CivGeneral May 25, 2003, 04:01 PM I am wondering if there is a way to troubleshoot the problem I am experiancing. Here is my problem. THe Game loads up correctly with the video intro, but after the intro, it just crashes to the desktop. Can anyone help me work around this?
My computer exceads the Minumum Requierments, and my OS is Windows XP.

CivGeneral May 25, 2003, 11:24 PM I am getting the feeling it has to do something with my Video Chip, Since I have check and they are an Intel Chip ser (And I Dont want to dish out money to get an upgrade). Hopefully they will releace a patch to resolve this.
anonymous4401 May 26, 2003, 08:14 PM I have the same problem, CivGeneral. Unfortunately, I think you will HAVE to dish out some cash for a new video card.
CivGeneral Jun 02, 2003, 11:43 PM Drat :s. Hopefully there would be a patch that will be releaced soon that would fix the problem. Since I would not want to mess with the insides of my Computer.
anonymous4401 Jun 02, 2003, 11:46 PM Well, we'll have to buy new cards, or new computers sooner or later. If an RTS needs a fancy video card, you can bet soon all games will be needing them.
mongoose201 Jun 06, 2003, 09:58 PM I have an HP with an Intel 82845G/GL video card. The computer exceeds the requirments for the game by far. When i first tried to play, the game started to load, then stopped and a window came up and told me that my video card didn't support the game and to dl the latest driver....Well, I thought I had the latest driver, but I went to HP, and sure enough, there was nothing newer there than what I had.
I must say that I was beginning to despair, but I went to Intel and had a look...Lo and Behold, and new driver for my video card..dl'ed and installed, and the game works fine (except for the fact that I can't seem to force myself to enjoy the game) ;)
unregistered141 Jun 07, 2003, 01:12 PM yeah i'm having that same problem right now, my video card is supported, and i have all the latest drivers for it. and its still screwing up. one time i made it to the main menu and the imaged was all stuffed up, then i hit the graphix button and it crashed to windows.
unregistered141 Jun 07, 2003, 01:14 PM then again my comp has been on for like 6 days, could use some cooling down
aneeshm Jun 10, 2003, 02:31 PM No video card . I have an Intel 810e . Same thing happens . Any help ?
Paalikles Jul 01, 2003, 04:44 PM It actually happened to me, though I am a gforce 4 user, with NEW drivers installed. Reinstalled the game, and have not had any crashes since (except for today - but that was because of a corrupted file....something to do with bad date adjustment.... )
The driver issue was quite obvious to me , as I started playing freelancer at about the same time as I got RoN - and that was the reason I went to nvidia.com to update my drivers (game started but displayed colors wrong and lousy details + removed all layer graphics to be replaced with greyish color)
So I guess the best thing to do is to look for a driver update unless your hardware is really old - but I am no expert
