I found out that the english civ3ptw only works with english windows. that is why you got the error code problem. install the game on a english windows system may be the only solution, as far as i know.

good luck!

Darn, the english version only works on english windows? That's a crock and a scam. You should take it right back to the retailer...:rolleyes:

Please use another board to ask questions about problems with illegal hacks of games. Our policy here is zero tolerance for piracy.
You should take it right back to the retailer ... :rolleyes:
:lol: Agreed!

After talking with anfrey, he assured me he has a legal copy, so I have reopened this thread for any non-piracy-related discussion.

@Anfrey:

There's a file in the main Civ3 folder called Lsans.fot - try copying that to your Windows\Fonts folder. Not sure if that'll help though, as I somehow think Civ3 should have given you the same kind of problem.

If it doesn't, try unistalling all your Lucida fonts.

Thank you Isak, it really works. You are the real expert.

Another thing about the fake game, I will definitely buy the game after trying it out. Anyway, it is not ripped by me. I will support the game I like. Just do not be too radical about it.

game piracy is definately looked down upon. ppl spent lots of time and effort into these great games.

edit: haven't tried to recommended fix yet, but will do when i get home from work.

@wqhuk:

I'm glad it worked, especially if it means you'll go out and buy the game ;)

Just out of curiousity, which one of the two 'solutions' worked for you?

@anfrey:

Hope you get it working too :)

@wkhuq: First, let me reiterate what Isak said - "I'm glad it worked, especially if it means you'll go out and buy the game ;)"

Second (and please take this the way it is intended - not as a complaint/charge against you, but as an explanation of my position): Anyway, it is not ripped by me. I will support the game I like. Just do not be too radical about it.Ripped by you or not it is still piracy. Supporting piracy would be the death of this site. We have a very good relationship with Firaxis and Atari, and have grown to be the 2nd largest Civ site on the Net. Open approval of piracy, or even just 'winking at it', would poison that relationship. Therefore, part of my "job" as moderator is to shut down any piracy-related threads. I have to be "radical" about it.

Isak: It workd by copying the lsans.ttf to windows\fonts folder. Thanks!

Padma: I am really glad that there are people like you, and I mean it. However, you can not deny there are lots of rubbish games. Civ is a great, otherwise i won't be here.

Sturgeon's Law

Theodore Sturgeon (1918-1985), a noted Science fiction author, was once asked why he wrote Science Fiction, as "95% of Science Fiction is crap!"

His response, now known as "Sturgeon's Law", was "95% of everything is crap!"

Make of that what you will. ;)
