Can anyone explain to me how the computer has infantry and guerrila units before researching replaceable parts????

The babylonian empire is tresspassing on my territory with cavarly (surrounded by me) and infantry units(what the hell?) on their way to crush the carthagan empire whose territory is not touchable by the babylonians.....I'm really tempted to attack the cavarly, but those mysteryious infantry are giving me a pause....where did they come from? How the hell did Babylon make them if they don't have the tech??????? Someone pls tell me what the hell to do. I can take the cavarly on a first strike option, but the infantry is hard as hell to crack.

How do you know that they do not have the tech? Are you about to research it yourself? If you are not, they may have it, but it doesn't show in the diplo screen cause you need other techs first.

I'm three techs away from it...and I'm tried to negotiate for other techs...they're at least two techs away and if I can't see it in the negotiation window under technologies to trade....then doesn't that mean they don't have it?

Nope, you can only see the techs that you are currently able to research on the AI negotiation screen. It's possible to see only Ancient Age techs when the AI civs are well into the Middle Ages, for example. You are simply too far behind to see whether or not the AI civs have Replaceable Parts on the diplomatic screen, but the presence of infantry should serve as a sign that they do indeed have it.

And this thread has no place in the Stories and Tales forum; suggestion that a mod move it somewhere better ASAP. :)
