:)
Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted before. I recently invested in a copy of CivIII, and to my frustraton it doesn't work. When I open it the menu comes up but then when I try to play the music starts but the screen just goes black and the computer freezes up, and I have to restart. Iam not a computer buff (I used to delete things on my old computer at random because they were big and didn't seem to be doing much; "I don't need this explorer.exe thing.......Oh sh*t"), but i think it may be something to do with my graphics card. I am running XP. Has anyone else had this problem. More impiortantly, can you fix it? Thanks in advance. :)

I had this problem a while ago. I reinstalled Civ3 and PTW, and it worked fine :) -- that might do the trick

I've reinstalled a few times now. But what is PTW?

PTW, is an expansion pack for Civilisation 3. I assumed you had it. (doesnt matter if you dont)

If it hasnt worked after you reinstalling it, then i am as clueless as you are.

Sorry... :mischief:

What OS do you have? What video card make and model? What version of Direct X (Start -> Run -> "dxdiag")?

I had the same problem running on Win2k server with a 32MB GeForce MX400.

I had the same exact problem, 1st, patch the game (from the official website), then I got the latest drivers from Nvidia (even though my video card is an "el-cheapo" Visiontek, it still has a GeForce MX400 chipset, so the drivers work even better than the ones from the official distributor of my video card).

Now this is the weird part. It's really important to install the drivers of your monitor (yes, the monitor drivers... I was not aware that those things still exist).

After that, it's all good. :goodjob:

Hope this helps.
