View Full Version : F^4 - You're HOW old?

ControlFreak
Jun 13, 2003, 08:24 AM
Born in 1969, making me 34. I always feel like I'm older than the other users until someone mentions its their 50th birthday or something.:)

EDIT: Oops, forgot to put the F_4 in the title. Cracker, could you fix or better yet move all the F_4s to a subthread?

Problem fixed. My first use of my mod powers and it was for a good cause. :)

Techinically speaking a legal drinker but soon will join the thirty somethings.

I'm soon 23. The way I write makes me look way younger I think.

I'm 30 (-not-something), so where do I fit in?
I see that I tend to fall outside the polls here...
Nm, I would have voted for drinker anyway :)

I'll oblige, I'm 40 (if that's old enough for you... :)).

Wow, so far I the old guy on this post (and feeling older every day with a 16 month old son!!). Born in 1955 (for those bad at math, I'll be 48 in December)

:mwaha:

Note: Last time I checked, because of a date error in the forum database, all birthdays before December 31, 1969 were reset to that date. Has that been fixed?

I have you beat, denyd. I am 59. And yes, I am still tough enough to wallop the Zulus in this GOTM.

My 3 boys are grown and all of them played at least one of the versions of Civ.

I was a fan of Buddy Holly before he was killed, and I was at University when the Beatles hit the top twenty and JFK was assasinated. That makes me feel very old!

I'm so old that if I was a lizard, I'd be a belt! ;)

Nice to finally see Cracker responding to one of these personality threads, even if his answer was as usual, indirect.

I thought that all you had to do was look at someones profile to know how old they are but just noticed that zagnut is about the same age as me and when I looked at his profile it said born 31 Dec 1969. When I registered I put my birthday in as well and it said 31 Dec 1969 when you check my profile. If I try to correct my profile it has my correct birthday.

I was born the day the 505th Airborne Infantry regiment captured the bridge in Nijmegen, Holand during WWII.

I have a 30 year old daughter who has been playing Civ since it came out.

zagnut, you may be tough enough to beat the Zulus but all I did was pay them lots of tribute. Maybe Gotm21 will be different, I'll have some time to hone my skills.

I think I out-age you guys by a year or two then I had already visited a few air-raid shelters by 1944.

Anyway, I chickened out and played Conquest this, first, time around, and my Zulus are giving me no pain.

Turning 40 this year was not such a bad experience for me. (I took it better than turning 30 hundred years ago ;) )

AlanH and Svar:

Glad to see there are a couple of us old timers on the site. While I now live in the US, I was born in London in 1944. The hospital in which I was born was hit by a bomb 2 days after my arrival. It rattled my brains a little and is probably the cause of my civ addiction.

Hmm...that's strange. It sounds like it's getting past through something that uses Unix time.

Unix time is recorded as the number of seconds since 1/1/1970, so that's the oldest date it can record. Apparently there's an off-by-one error in there too.

Or maybe they just assumed when they started the board that everyone over thirty would just like to pretend they're twenty-nine forever ;)

Oh yes....I'm 22. In my country it is possible to be a teenager and a legal drinker. This is especially embarassing since I still get carded!

So how could anyone who plays civ III truly be over the hill?

Place me in the early-middle-agers section.

I like Moonsinger's approach to this thread. After all, a lady never speaks her age. I'm older than rabies but not older than ControlFreak. ;)

I second Moonsinger's evasive, yet informative reply to the sensitive age question: I'm older than Capt Buttkick, younger than A Space Oddity. Hopefully, it will take a while before they rip out my intestines, fill me with spices and make me a grinning corpse cast in gold (=:egypt: ).

Yeah, it *so* nice to be used as a measure of ages , makes me feel like 100 years old. Oh well, serves me right for being frank about my age. There's some wisdom in common behaviour.. ;).
