View Full Version : F^4 Are there any Sports fans here?
OneFastWarrior Jun 13, 2003, 05:36 PM I am a huge sports fan:D , Especially American Football. I have been running a Fantasy Football League for 13 years. (A.U.F.F.L.) I am a Miami Dolphins fan, I also root for the L.A. Dodgers in Baseball, St.Louis Blues in Hockey and the Philadelphia 76ers in Basketball.
It is going to be hectic in the fall trying to complete gotm's run my league and watch Football on Sundays and Mondays, Oh yeah and Bowling on Saturdays :D
denyd Jun 13, 2003, 05:46 PM After being a 15+ year Strat-O-Matic baseball player, a SF Giant & 49er fan, I find my time consumed by my wife, my 1 1/2 year old son, a new home and CIV GOTM. All in all a very good trade!!
CruddyLeper Jun 13, 2003, 06:16 PM I'm kind of a sports fan. I usually have the BBC radio sports channel switched on for a bit of ambient noise. I don't watch TV.
That solution (radio) could be the answer to your dilemma OneFastWarrior.
alexman Jun 13, 2003, 06:42 PM I'm a huge NFL fan also. Bill Parcells fan, to be precise! :)
Go Cowbows!
Ronald Jun 13, 2003, 07:01 PM I am a big fan (and 1 time winner) of the "Wiener Kaffeehaus Triathlon" (Viennese coffee shop triathlon) a really cruel test of endurance ;) consisting of the three most demanding sports: chess, billiards and tarock (a popular Austrian card game)
feght Jun 14, 2003, 01:04 AM Yeah, I can't get enough cricket. And I can't say I'm a fan, but I'm off down the local soon to watch the all blacks get done over by the english in the rugby.
I didn't realise American Football was a sport? ;)
JonathanValjean Jun 14, 2003, 01:09 AM I mainly follow college basketball, and the NBA during the playoffs. Sports-wise, more than anything, I like to play basketball. There is nothing like hearing a string symphony after you make an impossible shot over the outstretched hand of a solid opponent! :goodjob:
drewshark Jun 14, 2003, 02:21 AM My wife and I are die hard Oakland Raider fans here,...still sulking over our Super Bowl loss in San Diego last year but excited about the upcoming season!! I already have accepted a dare to show my face in Pittsburgh on Dec. 7 for the Steeler/Raider game with my die hard Steeler friend.
Capt Buttkick Jun 14, 2003, 10:56 AM Play football and watch football.
The kind that is actually played with your feet and not your hands :D
Ah, you knew someone would start it :P
Sabre Jun 14, 2003, 12:27 PM I'm a sad sack fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. I used to be a sad sack fan of the Anaheim Angels but now I'm a very happy fan of the Anaheim Angels. All those years of coming soooooo close finally rewarded! :)
I'm also the proud owner of two simulation baseball teams. One of which lost the championship last year. Just like a true Western New York team!
scubagtr Jun 15, 2003, 01:26 PM I really like the NFL, but love to watch the Florida Gators. I run 2 Fantasy Football leagues, and baseball, basketball and used to run a hockey league as well, but then CBS started charging too much to run it.
Jurimax Jun 15, 2003, 08:32 PM I'm a big soccer fan. My number 1 team is Club Brugge. They won the Belgian League last year and were able to keep their team together and get reinforcements where needed. It'll be an exciting season to come as they'll have to struggle thru some qualification rounds to get in the Champion's League where the big money is.
I'm also a fan of Snooker (active and passive), Rally and Darts.
Greetings Jurimax
Darkness Jun 16, 2003, 04:12 PM Football (European style). My favourite team is last years' UEFA Cup winner Feyenoord :D

You yanks should get into some real sports
USA has a team in the rugby world cup that is being held in Australia at the end of the year...
Also its a fact that the US are olympic champions in rugby union... Even if it has been 75 years since its was an olympic sport
My step father is from NZ, went to bed half way through the second half couldn't watch the all blacks loose again.. He even says he is not an All Black supporter nowdays...
Well lets just see if we can do any better against the poms this weekend...

No problem. The ABs only lost cuz they chose the wrong team, got a bung ref, and dropped the ball every time they attacked. The poms don't stand a snowball's against the like of Wendell Sailor.
People are talking about the ABs or the English for the world cup, but it's the Wallabies in my book.
But we'll have you in the cricket. One day.
Karasu Jun 17, 2003, 03:03 AM Lots of football fans out here.
I like watching it too, but couldn't play even if blackmailed...
My sports? Wow. Martial arts, hiking
I play team sports (soccer, volley) for fun -no real skills there- with friends and colleagues (the latter, hoping to place some good hits on a selected few...)
I sometime read cricket reports on newspapers when I am on an airplane, and I even had one Briton explain me the rules, but I must confess it is beyond my mental ability to understand it.
I am also one of the biggest world experts in SIESTA, and I used to consider myself as a good match in beer contests, until I found another Briton who totally shocked me...
Luithien Jun 17, 2003, 03:44 AM feght...
I'm surprised you didnt bring up the old faithful for any NZ cricket fan..
"At least we dont have to bowl underarm to win"
:goodjob:
