ok I think that the guerilla in the game is to weak so I"m thinking of giving him hidden nationality, but i have some questions.
what would happen if I kill the last defending unit in a city would it become my city or will it just get pillaged, or can I do that at all.
will that AI come into my land and try and kill them

You can take a city with HN units, but the AI will hunt them.

Be warned!

I once experimented with hidden nationality land units and the result was very annoying, to say the least. The AI loves them and will send masses of them into your territory despite any peace treaties.

I finally deleted all of these units, because the game was no fun anymore (at least for me! If you like chaos, this might be the right way for you)

I usually have at least a couple in my games, and either the AI builds nothing but, or none at all. Although I think the primary reason they build units is the cost/offense ratio, and then only if they have "build offensive units often" checked.

But yes, as mentioned earlier, the AI hunts them mercilessly. But I think they are fun, and if you are a low-handed scalawag like me, just put a worker in the stack and the AI can't do a darn thing.

I had a Ranger, with Kinboat's "Robin Hood" Animation be a Medieval era guerilla fighter, an Industrial Age Partisan, and then the normal Guerilla for modern times.

Conversely, you can take AI cities without declaring war. The game treats them like barbarians.

So, hypothetically speaking, if you give every unit the 'hidden nationality' flag, you could have games where noone would ever declare war? :p :crazyeye:

I had a sort of commando unit with hidden nationality in my game and that one is a lot of fun :)

airdropping them behind enemy lines and then attacking them is kind of neat

I made the guerillas hidden nationality, invisible and gave them the ability to airdrop deep into enemy territory. I've found that you can take a city but the civ you stole it from becomes furious at you.

Once I experimented with hidden nationality tactiacl nukes! Everybody declared war on me still but the difference was that I wasn't at war with the civ I nuked!

I have done it before. The friendly AI will send them at you regardless so you better protect your workers!! But it creates and exploit where you can capture other CIvs workers far to easly. And you can't turn off the capture command or it want be able to attack.

So If you put them in your game I wouldn't give them much attack or defence, or none at all and just let them pillage maybe.

Im thinking about replacing barbarian huts with a whole new civilization (or more than one for different regions of the world), and only allow that civilization to build its unique units which will have hidden nationality, that way, im guessing you could attack and conquer their cities, even if you're at peace with them, and they can do the same to you. I'll limit those civs technological progress by not allowing them to build workers (most city improvements in my mod require a special resource, so they wont be building them either).
