i'm trying to install play the world and i keep getting this error message that says component tranfer error file e:data2.cab, data error (cyclic redundancy check)

anyone know what thie means?

Well the cyclic redundancy check is used for detecting errors.
For most games the Data.cab thingies are the largest files, so this may be cause there is a scratch on your cd. Check it.

Otherwise i dont have a clue, sorry.

Try copying the whole CD to your hard drive and see if you get any errors.
