There are two things I'd like to see become possible in Conquests:

1. Losing a contact after you haven't seen someone. Civ2 had this. In Civ3 style, the Romans and the Chinese would've had contact around 1 AD.

2. Losing technology. This is less important, but since this is "Conquests" it might be fun to make some sort of apocalypse possible.

For Civ2 there was a scenario called "Apocalypse", and there you start with medieval/industrial technology. But when the biggest enemies have technology for nukes they start using them and everything should start all over again, except for the fact that everyone kept their technology.

I'd like to see some sort of apocalypse be possible in Civ3. :) Apart from that, a special Apocalypse scenario would be fun too. http://forums.civfanatics.com/images/icons/icon16.gif But that's not what I'm asking. ;)

I like that idea. Would enable dark ages period. Since barbarians in Civ3 cannot take cities and such that could really represent an invasion setback.
Pb is to how and when ? In scenarios it could be nice anyway.

I don't think we will see that in the expansion though.

Or for diplomatic contact, stop contact after a certain number of turns if you haven't met any units of the civ again. Of course it would evolve with new techs. That part sounds feasible.

Contact could also be tied to having a trade route to the civ in question. If you didn't you could only contact via right-clicking a visible unit from that civ. Once you got harbors this wouldn't be an issue anymore but it might add something to the early exploration period of the game.

How about a maintenance cost for techs and contact, which disapears with the construction of the Internet!!
