Yo,

I'm having quite strange MP issue with PTW. Now I have two computers connected to internet with different public (no 10. or 192.) IPs, no firewall and all the latest Windows XP patches (+ DirectX 9) and PTW 1.21f patch installed.

XP built in firewall is disabled and no other firewall softwares are running. PTW is bought from finland (UK version i guess) and patched with 1.21f UK patch released some days ago.

Problem is that neither of those computers (lets call them computer A & computer B) can host games to OTHER computer on the room.

Both computers can see other players at GameSpy lobby, join games hosted by other players, host games for other players and chat to each other, but computer A cannot see computer B at the game list or join games hosted by that computer. When asked if the computer hosting can be seen by other players at the lobby the answer is yes. Both computers also can join games hosted by someone else at the same time.

At local game mode computer B game crashes when trying to host. And when hosting with computer A it doesn't show on the list.

Direct ip attempt from computer B to computer A causes instant "You might be behind firewall... etc" message and Direct ip attempt from computer A to computer B at internet mode (B cannot host local games) just times out.

Im running out of ideas... would be cool if someone could give some insight about this issue.

...Actually problem is now solved. Soundcard for second machine (B) was not configured properly and installing new soundcard helped to this issue.

I think this problem can be traced back to DirectX API (DirectPlay), as i really have hard time beliving installing new soundcard would otherwise have any effect on network problems.

Just to let anyone with similar weird MP problems to know...
