View Full Version : Term 3 - Presidential Elections CivGeneral Jun 28, 2003, 07:10 PM Please vote yes, no or abstain. This poll will remain open until the end of the month GMT. Yours, The Election Office Staff Falcon02 Jun 28, 2003, 07:13 PM 2 minutes old and CG takes an early lead 3-0-0-0 GO CG!!! Bootstoots Jun 28, 2003, 07:14 PM I voted for CG for President of Fanatica. He has been doing the best job of almost any Fanatican citizen, and he will serve our country the best that is possible. He has run several times for President and I believe it is high time that he is elected to be our President. Falcon02 Jun 28, 2003, 07:15 PM Originally posted by bootstoots I voted for CG for President of Fanatica. Not to mention is CG wins we're garenteed to get new blood in the Military Department ;) Donovan Zoi Jun 28, 2003, 08:37 PM I voted for the "redhead hottie." Show us what you've got, CG. It looks like your time has come. Strider Jun 28, 2003, 09:17 PM I vote for CivGeneral. He has always stood behind me in my election and has proved invaluable in the Military Department. FionnMcCumhall Jun 28, 2003, 09:17 PM Go me, no votes so far hehe, i actually voted for CG its his time Octavian X Jun 28, 2003, 10:07 PM Originally posted by CivGeneral [B]Please vote yes, no or abstain. What yes and no? :p BTW, I voted for donsig's experience. Rik Meleet Jun 28, 2003, 10:54 PM Fionn: I hope you don't mind, but I'm voting for Donsig. FionnMcCumhall Jun 29, 2003, 01:44 PM *sigh* maybe i shouldve voted for myself, at least then im guarenteed at least one vote in this race ;) Plexus Jun 29, 2003, 02:56 PM I think CG deserves it this time around. Go CG. :) Eklektikos Jun 29, 2003, 03:14 PM Donsig has my vote this term. He's a good player, a decisive & enthusiastic leader and a great communicator - what more could one ask for in a president? Civanator Jun 29, 2003, 03:54 PM GO CG!!!!!! Bill_in_PDX Jun 29, 2003, 04:59 PM donsig has been a committed demo game play since day one. He has earned our votes. CivGeneral Jun 29, 2003, 05:18 PM I beleve it is time for me to take the ropes of the Presidency. I encurage all citizens to vote for me for President. I was a Military Leader, Govenor, and Science Leader. Recently I became the Director of the Election Office and #demogame perm- Op. So Citizens, lend me your ears and Vote for me, CivGeneral :). Bootstoots Jun 29, 2003, 08:30 PM CivGeneral really does deserve your votes. He is the best candidate I can imagine for President. He has tried many times for President and he certainly deserves to be president this time. His activity and dedication to the demogame are evident by his commitments and very frequent participation and posting. Please vote for CivGeneral, a vote for him is a vote for Fanatica as a whole. Civanator Jun 29, 2003, 08:52 PM HOLY SHIZA!!!! Donsig has come from behind!!! 15-17!!! VOTE FOR CIVGENERAL!!!!! Bootstoots Jun 29, 2003, 09:01 PM I would like to announce a possible problem that may have beset this election. I can't help but notice that donsig received 8 votes in rapid succession, whereas CG and Fionn received none. Also, no unusual amount of votes rang in in the other polls. I suspect that there may have been a DL fraud involving several DL's. I have contacted Thunderfall on this issue, and he may conduct an IP scan. I am not accusing anybody of fraud, but this needs to be investigated. I ask that the moderators in this forum give this issue their full attention. I would also ask that if anybody did this, please contact TF and be honest about it. Donovan Zoi Jun 29, 2003, 09:19 PM I am on the case, Boots. No more than 5 hours ago, he was down 15-9. I will look into this matter right away. Bootstoots: To help narrow things down, did you notice this discrepency when you last posted (post #16) just under an hour ago? CivGeneral Jun 29, 2003, 09:22 PM Originally posted by Donovan Zoi Bootstoots: To help narrow things down, did you notice this discrepency when you last posted (post #16) just under an hour ago? Boots and I have Discovered that discrepency around the time Boots has posted his Post #16. Somewhere Between My Post #15 and #16 There was a Huge Jump on Donsig's Side. Donovan Zoi Jun 29, 2003, 09:44 PM It is important that we do not rush to judgment here as an election is still in progress. I have sent a PM to Thunderfall explaining the details of this matter, and myself or eyrei will update the citizenry on any new details as they come in. If you have any further concerns on this matter, please PM one of us. Do not post here. Thank you. eyrei Jun 29, 2003, 11:21 PM I don't see any reason to suspect any foul play here, and I may even be able to offer an explanation. Many people who used to be involved in the demogame vote in the presidential elections and no others. It is perfectly normal for this election to receive more votes than the others. Also, there are those (myself included) who may have started voting and then stopped for some reason. Currently, I have been interrupted twice while trying to cast my votes, and still haven't finished. Further, I have seen this phenomena before in other elections. Particularly, the group that often hangs out in the chat room usually votes earlier than others (because they find out the polls were posted first), and tend to vote for certain candidates. Thus, a candidate sometimes will get a large number of votes early on, and then end up losing the election as the rest of the populace votes. This seems to be the case here... There is also no way to tell who voted in a poll without running a gigantic search of every poll ever posted, so I wouldn't expect Thunderfall to find anything. Octavian X Jun 29, 2003, 11:49 PM eyrei's right - there are always people who draw in outsiders and lurkers for the vote. donsig's been here since the beginning, and has simply drawn out those who support him who aren't necessarily active. Besides, the Presiential election has historically drawn out more voters than all the others. FionnMcCumhall Jun 30, 2003, 01:58 AM you would think i could at least get one vote for myself in this contest. This is my worst election since joining this game lol Sir John Jun 30, 2003, 07:06 AM Isnt it possible to see who actually voted on the poll?? Then u could see if they were even in the dg.. Bootstoots Jun 30, 2003, 07:09 AM YAY!!!! Fionn got a vote! :D Rik Meleet Jun 30, 2003, 07:41 AM This is by far the most interesting election. It resembles the USA last presidential election. Great Fionn. The election between the 2 is too thrilling for me to "waste" my vote on the 3rd place candidate, if it possible to "waste" a vote if it goes to an able candidate. Noldodan Jun 30, 2003, 09:40 AM Originally posted by eyrei Further, I have seen this phenomena before in other elections. In the Term 1 elections for Domestic, I received the first three votes, but then only received three more throughout the election. *sighs* CivGeneral Jun 30, 2003, 10:29 AM I encurage Everyone to vote for CivGeneral. I will do a good job and I have attended all of the Turn Chats. Eklektikos Jun 30, 2003, 10:37 AM Turn chat attendance really isn't an issue in the Presidential race though, given that the Pres can schedule them to allow him or herself to attend every single one during their term of office. CivGeneral Jun 30, 2003, 11:19 AM Vote For CivGeneral. Vote for Me. In the Past, I have made several attempts to make it to President. In the last Term of DG2, I made it to Vice President. In Term 1 of this Demogame, I was the Military Leader. In Term 2 I was automadicly appointed Vice President after CT has left. I beleve it is about time for me to get a chance to be president. Like Donovon Zoi, I to never had a chance on becoming president. So People, I encourage you to vote for CivGeneral. I will surely bring good times to Term 3. Give CivGeneral a chance at the Presidancy, Vote for CG. FionnMcCumhall Jun 30, 2003, 11:29 AM Vote CG for president and lets see what he can do as the Commander-in-chief. We have see what donsig can do as president, lets see what CivGeneral can bring to the plate. so remember vote CG for president! Donovan Zoi Jun 30, 2003, 11:46 AM After further investigation, there is no evidence that supports any claims of "foul play." The results in this election will stand. Bootstoots Jun 30, 2003, 12:45 PM Did TF do an IP scan or (unlikely) perform a "who voted" check? CivGeneral Jun 30, 2003, 01:01 PM Originally posted by Bootstoots Did TF do an IP scan or (unlikely) perform a "who voted" check? TF said that if he did a "Who voted" scan, that it would crash the forums. Vote for CivGeneral eyrei Jun 30, 2003, 01:19 PM Originally posted by Bootstoots Did TF do an IP scan or (unlikely) perform a "who voted" check? No. There is no way to get any evidence here, so there is no way to continue the investigation. Bootstoots Jun 30, 2003, 01:48 PM Come on CG! If you haven't voted yet, cast your ballots for CG, he is the best choice of these three candidates! He will do very well as President, he won't let Fanatica down! Vote CivGeneral! Bootstoots Jun 30, 2003, 06:43 PM Originally posted by Donovan Zoi After further investigation, there is no evidence that supports any claims of "foul play." The results in this election will stand. I thank you, DZ, for your cooperation on this matter. I would like it if TF could place an IP scan to figure out if a user that frequents the demogame has a large quantity of DL's. This will help to settle this beyond all reasonable doubt. AFAIK, there is no way other than an IP scan that could be done to prove or disprove any "foul play". I would appreciate it if he could do that before we officially consider this investigation closed. In the meantime, however, these election results would stand. BTW, Go CG! Around 10-15 minutes to go and you only need one more vote to tie it! Bootstoots Jun 30, 2003, 07:01 PM Poll results are the following: Donsig: 21 CivGeneral: 19 Fionn: 1 Abstain: 1 This is posted in case the polls don't close on time. Eklektikos Jun 30, 2003, 07:01 PM Time, gentlemen, please! Cyc Jun 30, 2003, 07:08 PM Congratulations, President donsig. I cant beleve this has happened :wallbash:. I thought I had an easy win if "There is still time" - DZ Peri Jun 30, 2003, 07:14 PM Well done Mr. President. My condolences CivGen. I talked with Thunderfall in great detail on all our options, and wouldn't have posted with such finality if there were more that could be done. And regarding your idea of checking everyone's IP for DL's, I am not about to put all of of Fanatica through such an ordeal for this. This matter is closed. :) Congratulations, donsig! You are Fanatica's new President. Bootstoots Jun 30, 2003, 07:33 PM Ok, I accept that. CivGeneral Jun 30, 2003, 07:36 PM Halt the presses. Stop the Presses. CivGeneral actualy won the Elections :D http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/CGdefeatsdonsig1.JPG donsig Jun 30, 2003, 07:51 PM That's beautiful, Mr. Vice-President! On a more serious note, I think it is about time we considered doing away with secret ballots, at least in the presidential elections. If our election thread was not a poll but a thread where each citizen had to publicly post his or her vote we could avoid divisive allegations such as those made during this election. Please note I have scheduled the first term 3 turn chat for a scant 47.5 hours from now. there's much work to be done so let's get to it! :whipped: Bootstoots Jun 30, 2003, 07:56 PM That's a very good idea, Mr. President. I don't believe that there is much need for anonymity, given that most people post who they voted for anyway. We should begin discussion on this idea, to prevent allegations and DL possibilities from happening. Bill_in_PDX Jun 30, 2003, 08:05 PM congrats donsig! Octavian X Jun 30, 2003, 10:14 PM Hmm... Term 3 of DG3... I wonder, will Mr. donsig repeat the infamous Term 3 of DG1? :p donsig Jun 30, 2003, 10:31 PM Originally posted by Octavian X Hmm... Term 3 of DG3... I wonder, will Mr. donsig repeat the infamous Term 3 of DG1? :p IIRC, Phoenatica was at war with the Aztecs back then... I wouldn't mind repeating that. :D Falcon02 Jul 01, 2003, 12:11 AM Originally posted by donsig IIRC, Phoenatica was at war with the Aztecs back then... Rik Meleet Jul 01, 2003, 02:45 AM Congrats Donsig Civanator Jul 01, 2003, 08:56 AM Wow. Donsig had a come-from-behind victory. Congrats Donsig. |
