Term 2 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54811)

Welcome to the Office for the Governor of Capitoline! May his days be long and prosperous!

Currently, there are some issues outstanding:
I need to know what cities I command. The cartographic office has dissappeared. May somebody tell me the borders? If it is wished, I may run the Cartographic office for this Demogame.

What is our current standing? I have bits and pieces of information about what has happened so far. Apparently we are/were at war with Egypt, and we have a city in a culturally unstable site. We also need to claim our land, as other civs are approaching.

There is a turn chat on the 3rd. What issues are standing out, what is needed, what is not? Do we need infrastructure, military or expansion (or if we are doing badly, all of them)?

Now, let's charge our nation ahead, Fanaticans! We will be victorious!

Dear Governor,

As far as I can tell, the following cities in your province:

Noshuret, Gorina, Penguinadua, Nur Gisnod, Xak Tsaroth, Tyvek, Neopolis, Ingolemondor and Nafstac.

We are no longer at war with Egypt. We are concerned that Memphis, occupied by our glorious Legions during the recent war, will revolt and rejoin Cleopatra's empire. We do not need any more legions. We need settlers and spearmen. We also need infrasrtucture as we have only three cities with any culoture to speak of.

I would like to draw your attention to the following posts:

Memo from the President to all leaders (including governors). (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=1081058#post1081058)

Some micromanagement thoughts from a citizen. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=1081057#post1081057)

Preferred format for turn chat instructions. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=732595#post732595)

Thanks,
donsig

Governor GBM, below is a copy of a posting that I made to the previous administration here in the Capital Province a week ago and never got a response on. It deals with a request for a chnge in Build Queue and a Worker action:

From the Mayor of Gorina
Good Governor eyrei, I've just now read your suggestion about pre-building a marketplace in Gorina. A marketplace is all well and good, but a Colosseum would be much better. We have the Sistene Chapel coming up soon and we'll need the extra growth. Below I've copied a statement from the Gorina thread. It basically sums up my feelings on production and growth.

There are a couple of things I'd like to talk about -
1. Now that we are are Peace with the Egyptians, do we really need to be producing Legionaries? Our smaller towns can be producing Settlers and escorts for them. Gorina needs to grow into the Metropolis it is destined to be. We have already produced an abundance of Settlers and Military units for Fanatica. It's time to look towards the future and realize Gorina's place in society. As Mayor, I strongly recomend that our production be changed to a Colosseum. This will allow the city to grow, unhindered by happiness problems. A new Great Wonder should be in our future plans and a Colosseum is called for.

2. I would like to request a Worker from the group of three SW of Gorina to come and irrigated the Grasslands South of town. With the Colosseum built, we will be able to expand and bring in new minerals from the Hills of Gorina, but without some irrigation, this will be a very slow process. The Worker can be there in 1 turn and should be able to complete the irrigation before our next growth cycle.
___________________________________

In conclusion, I see that the Marketplace (or FP) was never started, so I'd like to change production from your proposed Marketplace to a Colosseum. The extra Culture will help immensely.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Governor GBM, with only two Luxuries, the Marketplace is not really going to help Gorina stay happy, whereas the Colosseum will. We have no idea when we will get new Luxs, so let's go with the sure thing. A colosseum and irrigation now is called for.

Greetings from a far off Mystical Place called Cape Cod!
I am the Mayor of Naftsac and the Annoying Citizen Who Wishes He Ran Penguinadua.
Both of these cities have the possibility to become big cities. They both need one thing, however. WORKERS. We NEED workers!!! We also need infastructure.
In Governor Eyrei's polls, Penguinadua was deemed a Settler Factory and Nafstac was never deemed anything. Nafstac has the ability to become a major port city and Penguinadua a city similar to Padua (cultural, economic and learning center). I urge you to make queues that support infastructure in both these cities. We no longer need Legions galore. We just need to build. I hope your term as governor will serve as a fruitful time of building, building and more building.

Citizen SaaM

PS- To everyone: Mac 1.29 Beta 2 supports the DG Save!!! I'll be able to be informed while I'm out.

OK, this country is in disarray. Now we have continued leadership woes.

I will still post my instructions, as it is my job which I must do, but I really think we should let the Vice President step in for the next turn chat. It will be for the good of fanatika.

Donovan Zoi

It's not going to happen, GBM. President donsig will be present and leading the chat on Saturday --- guaranteed.

Please post the instructions that you see fit. If it is written, it must be done.

Hopefully by "continued leadership woes," you do not mean to include my recent term as Presidency. Although I understand if that is the case. My leadership style stands in direct contrast with the current administration, as I may have relied a bit too much on the will of the people during Term 2. But I have always believed that this game should remain mostly forum-based, even if it means shorter turnchats.

Sorry, I just heard that the last term was a little unproductive. Again, just what I heard, I missed the first two terms. If anything, you were the best domestic advisor ever in DGII, full stop. You were the only one which put any interest into the feeble province that was Montis Abeo Gramen.

By the way, president donsig would prefer simple instructions instead of the ASCII, so I will post the ASCII maps here, but plain text instructions in the instruction thread.

Are there any people who want to be mayors? I will accept pretty much anyone. Though I would like at least one high-up member, as they seem to know about what is happening. Or is there some kind of mini-government I can run here?

The way I would run it is post the instructions here before the T/C, and ask for a citizen to back my actions, maybe even another to 2nd them. This would increase discussion and productiveness.

Govenor GBM, as you can see from post #3 above, I am the Mayor for Gorina. Please take note that Gorina is now building a Colosseum. Hopefully after that, we will be pre-building the Great Wonder Sistene Chapel.

Cyc: as the governor, you get the say in your city. Gorina's Queue will be Colusseum, then a Palace prebuild, as is your order.

Cyc

The people of Gorina thank you GBM. A Colosseum is just what we needed to keep the people happy. The Palace pre-build is right on time also (if I can get the Sci-Rate moved to 70% :D but that doesn't involve you...) as we definitely look forward to having the Sistene Chapel in our great city.

BTW, GBM...come closer...(you're the Governor, I'm just the mayor) ;)

Thanks again!

The people of Gorina would like to request Laborer and Worker actions. Actually the Laborer action would be preceeded by the re-allocation of a shared tile.

The Grassland tile S, SW of Gorina is currently being used by Tyvek, but also falls within the city borders of Gorina. Tyvek will be producing a Settler in two turns. The Settler will be ready next turn, but the city will not be ready for two turns because of food supply. If we were to switch Tyvek's tile usage from the Grassland I've mentioned above to the bonus grassland East of Tyvek, the situation would remain the same for Tyvek.

The difference would be that if we let Gorina use that Grassland tile S, SW of town, then Gorina would grow in 9 turns. This means we would be able to used a mined hill that much quicker (by four turns), plus our growth to size 9 would be accelerated also. That growth would also bring in another mined hill. :)

The requested Worker action is to have the Iron Hill mined. I thought this had been mined before, but I guess I was mistaken. I do know I have requested the action before in previous administrations.

So, that's it. Let Gorina use the irrigated Grassland that Tyvek is currently borrowing from us and mine the Iron Hill. Thanks,

Cyc
Mayor of Gorina.

Governor GingerbreadMan,

A new city build plan is located here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58336) , and while Capitolene is fairly well built up, there are still a couple of sites on map 2, and a couple on map 3 which might be in this province, depending on where the borders are. I lost track of the individual boder tiles...

Your opinion on the placements, their relative priority, and Capitolene's capacity to produce settlers is urgently needed so we can proceed to cement our dominion over the region. :D

Everything is running pretty smoothly in Gorina, Governor GBM. The Laborers and Workers both are doing a fine job. The only suggestions I might make as Mayor are that upon our next growth (to size 9), the laborer work the new mines being built SW of town. When the Workers complete that mine, they might build a new mine in the hills NW of town. One more thing..we might want to think about bringing a spearman or other unit into the city as our third Military policeman to calm any unrest as our city grows. Thanks,

Cyc

Governor GBM - Gorina will be done building the Sistene Chapel in 6 turns. At this time, I would like to recommend that gorina then build a Cathedral. We have 3 Happy citizens and 3 Unhappy citizens. This situation is limiting our growth. With the completion of the Sistine Chapel, a Cathedral will eliminate 3 Unhappy faces in Gorina, making them Content. We will then be able to grow to Size 12 without worrying about unhappiness. Here's our options:

Cathedral - makes 3 Unhappy faces Content - 3 culture, 2 maint. - takes 9 turns - result --> no Unhappy faces

Market - Increases tax revenue to treasury by 50%, adds happy faces by amount of lux's - 1 maint - takes 6 turns - results --> 2 extra coins

University - Increases Scientific Research of Gorina by 50% - 4 culture, 2 maint. - takes 11 turns - result --> 13 extra coins to Science.

Taking this all into consideration, I recommend a Cathedral. I understand that President donsig is suggesting that we will be getting more lux's via trade, which would enhance the prospect of a marketplace, but this suggestion is only a guess right now. Keep in mind when we lose the Gem trade with Russia in 5 turns, Gorina will riot if the LuxRate isn't increased to 10%. Of course this again depends on what Lux's we can afford to trade for after we discover Astronomy. A cathedral first is our best bet.

Once the mines are built on the roaded hills NE of Gorina, please irrigate one of the mined Grasslands, allowing Gorina to grow again. In fact two mined Grasslands could be irrigated.

Thanks,
Cyc

Officials and Citizens of Capitoline,

I would like to draw your attention to this discussion on balanced production. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59215) Please take it into consideration when planning your upcoming build queues. As always, your input to this important issue is greatly desired, please feel free to speak up in the linked thread.

Thanks!

Governor GBM,

Thank you for the honor of being the first city to produce a Fanatican Great Wonder. We shall keep it in all its glory, forever showing the world that we are now on the map.

Thank you also, for allowing us to build a Cathedral after the completion of the Sistene Chapel. This will ensure that not only will our 2 unhappy citizens become content, but also our next 4 unhappy citizens will automatically follow the same path to contentment. :)

 I see a marketplace is next in queue for our builders. This is excellent news also. The increase in revenue to the Treasury will boost Gorina's reputation as a leading city once again. We here in Gorina hope that a University follows the Marketplace and a Bank follows the University. That is, of course, unless we're to build another great Wonder. :)

As far as Laborer assignments, we requested last t/c that one of our mined Grasslands be irrigated (possibly even two) after the completion of the roaded hill being mined. Somehow that Worker wound up on the Plains tile, I assume to irrigate that. This is the wrong way to go about increasing our growth and production. We need to irrigate a mined Grassland (not the mined Bonus Grassland) to spur growth so we can take advantage of the two mined hills quickly. Irrigating the Plains tile will be a very ineffecient move as it will not be used. We should not waste time doing this.

Thanks again,
Mayor Cyc
