This is the MiG-31 Foxhound, it is basically an upgrade of the
MiG-25 Foxbat. It is extremely fast, with a maximum speed of Mach 2.83. It is a long-range interceptor, but can be used for Electronic Contermeasures and Reconnaisance. It is one of the best fighter aircraft in the Russian Air Force (after the Su-37, S-37, and the Mig-35). It is extremely similar to the MiG 25.

Here it is:

there is a problem with your units snsfro... they don't fit civ3 at all. you use different viewing angle (should be 30 degrees, your seems to like 15-20) and perspective of a 50mm camera (civ3 is isometric - it has no perspective in renaissance means, can be achieved by focal length of 200mm or more).

Ugh, This is not the Quality of the MiG-31 THat I am looking for. I am looking for a Bebo, Smoking Mirror, or Knboat's Quality unit.

I know, me too, this is just to pass the time until they create one.

And embryo, what do you mean? Again, I just started unit making, so I need some tips.

I don't know what program you are using, but generally every 3D software has something like camera... You should set your camera (the one you use for rendering) so the unit looks like in civ3, with right angle and no perspective. The camera's angle towards ground plane should be 30 degrees. If you have only XYZ coordinates in your program, try to do it by hand - generally should be a little higher than now.
By no perspective I mean that a model should not be distorted with distance. Just find "focal length" setting of your camera and set it to 200 mm, all distortion will go away.
Also try use right directions for your models. If you keep your camera at place, rotate the model by 0, 45, 90, 135, 180, -135, -90 and -45 degress - that will produce perfect directions.
cheers :)

Dont care who says what snsfro. But personally I kinda like a non conformist unit. Sure it ain't the best out there, but so what. I maself couldn't come up with one half as good even if I tried.

Keep up the good work. It'll get better. :)

I think you've got a very good model there snsfro, but listen to embryodead and work on correcting you camera angles.

I've seen quite a few mediocre units at best get rave reviews, and yet nothing but criticism for snsfro's attempts, or at the very least, a little pat on the head.
Seriously, is it because of his Sebsagian intro to the forums?

Why don't everybody come down and try and behave civilized
everyone has to start somewhere and this isn't a bad start you should have seen the kind of crap that I made in the start
If you can get the camera angles right you got a really nice unit there

OK, Now don't go crazy but I have a Su-25 Frogfoot Attacker that I can Make. It will be of the same quality as the Mig-31 with a bit more color. Doi you want me to post it? Something is better than nothing, right? I don't see any "good" unit makers making these units so I am. I won't post it unless it is wanterd, so reply!

I think you should post it, but with these great models you have, I think you should spend the time to get the right camera angles and the units would look so much better.

very good starting point, but IMHO you should work a little bit on model. Unfortunatelly, it doesnt look like MIG31. I'd say it looks more like F18 :).
