View Full Version : Rebellions/Civil Wars
Sims2789 Jul 04, 2003, 11:47 PM It would be cool if part of your Empire (or an AI's Empire) could break away from their main Empire. For example, if i am playing as America, the Western part of my Empire could break away and form the Confederates, idmeitiately declaring war on me.

bippukt Jul 04, 2003, 11:53 PM I think that the unhappy citizens, propaganda and culture flips are already enough of a nuisance to the player :(. This rebellion stuff will really make it very difficult for the average player. I dont think that this idea is really feasible. And if it is there in the game, I would want it to be optional.
EddyG17 Jul 05, 2003, 11:27 AM The civil war would be trigger by: too much corruption, too far away from the mainland unless if the city/s were in an unattended civildisorder, too weak AFTER a war.
Imagine to play as England and discorver America, you get the idea.
PS. read independence!! many great ideas in there
RX2000 Jul 05, 2003, 07:21 PM As I stated in the other thread, I am opposed to this idea. It would REALLY upset people to lose half their empire in 1 turn. I just dont see how that could add fun to the game. Seems like just another thing to have to worry about.
AlcTrv Jul 08, 2003, 10:25 PM you should get a warning and stuff, and it starts slow, but i think we should have civil wars instead of culture flips
Black Waltz Jul 09, 2003, 04:26 AM I hate this idea. Imagine playing for a good few days... Then just because they got too unhappy you loose half your cities and have no chance of catching up... I think the culture flips and such are good enough.
Arne Jul 09, 2003, 04:35 AM I love the idea. Especially for scenarios.
Junzi Nicuzn Jul 09, 2003, 08:25 AM I think this is a great idea. A whole new aspect of the game. But it should be an option you can turn off, like culture flips, for those who don't want it and for those who get frustrated by it.
casual_moose Jul 09, 2003, 08:42 AM ya you should be able to turn it off, even though i would leave it on:goodjob:
PurplePacifier Jul 10, 2003, 04:20 AM I think that a civil war should occur at least once to every civ. No matter what the reason would be, I think at least once represents fairly well what happens in rl.
One suggestion I have is that every time a civ switches governments, there would be a 50% chance of civil war. I think this is a good percentage because I'm guessing that civs switch governments about twice per game. This percentage could be smaller for religious civs. These percentages could even be smaller if there are other criteria for having a civil war occur.
Another suggestion I have is to have a civil war soon after a golden age, or have a high percentage that one would occur soon after a golden age. This percentage could be smaller if there were other criteria.
Another criteria I have is if a civ has too many cities, a civil war would have a high percentage of occuring. There are a lot of ways to determine how many is too many.
