Welcome to Quirnial Province! I, Bootstoots, am your governor, and Bacon King is the Deputy Governor. Enjoy your stay!

Currently, we have nine cities. The provincial borders haven't been defined yet but are generally considered to be the part of the peninsula that the cities are on. We need three more mayors, so if you're at all interested, sign up here!

This is the list of mayors and the cities they govern:
Bootia - Bacon King
Gingerbread City - D'yer Mak'er
Yet Another City - zorven
South Bootia - Gainy Bo
DePaolo - Civanator
PDX III - vacant, needs a mayor
Shaitan - vacant, needs a mayor
Cold Harbor - vacant, needs a mayor
Malvern Hill - deshelbr

Here is a map (please note that the border actually extends slightly to the north of what is shown here, update to come soon):

This is the Quirnial (please correct me if I was wrong on spelling) Province thread. I was planning on resigning but will stay on board as no action was taken. The borders have not been defined yet but are considered to include the cities of Bootia and Gingerbread City on the peninsula.

Governor Bootstoots,

Here are the provincial borders to the North, as defined in a previous poll on the borders of Aventine. As you can see there are currently 3 cities in your province :)

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/dg3-quirinal-N-border.jpg

I will start a thread immediately on placement of the Southern border in relationship to the new city build plan.

P.S. Glad you're staying! :)

Bacon king, Bootia it is. You are on the roster of mayors, and will be a candidate for Deputy Governor.

Also, CG, I was thinking more like having a citizen roster and maybe voting on mayors in the future, though for right now, I'm still appointing. Perhaps I could set up a Provincial Senate or something.

When will the "nominations" for deputy governer stop and we vote?

I'm planning on having them stop tomorrow morning, when a poll will be set up. The 48 hours part was added in a post edit yesterday morning.

bacon king - I just made a candidate list, and Tula and Teayo haven't officially been added, they may become part of a fifth province.

Also, I would like some build queue advice for Bootia, if you don't mind.

I would like to see some culture in Tula and Teayo soon, if possible. That is only if you have jurisdiction over those cities, of course.

Domestic agrees that after the current spearmen are completed, the next priority for these towns should be cultural in nature. Libraries would be good, and temples would also be acceptable if the general opinion is that libraries would take too many shields. :) In any event, we would have many turns to decide. :(

Also please post instructions that Tula should be bounced in and out of disorder, just to get some production out of it. Domestic will post identical instructions, so no matter whether this town is in this province or not the right thing gets done. Looks like the previous ruler did some pop rushing, and we will have to follow the cycle

Put laborer on mined game for +4 food, 1 shield
One turn production
Change to entertainer
One turn no production
Work the game square

At least there are only 5 "productive" turns until growth, and the spear will get shields even when there is an entertainer... After it grows it won't be stuck in unhappieness any longer.

Sure, that's a great idea. I will make you the mayor of Yet Another City (which will probably be renamed soon). You should start a thread with information about Yet Another City, and you are encouraged but not required to post build queue suggestions for that city. Welcome to the demogame, BTW.

Governor Bootstoots,

I am currently analyzing our city plans and need to know if there are any production needs from the Province or National level?

I see that we are currenlty producing a spearman. There is a spearman north of our city - is that spear destined for garrison duty here or elsewhere? If it is destined for us, then we can change our production.

If we change our production, we could build a settler in 20 turns to settle the area south of us. There are currently no active settlers in the country and only one being built.

In summary:
Do we continue to build a spearman?
If not, should we build a settler or focus on city improvements?

I will have further advice after these questions have been answered.

Thank you,

zorven
Mayor of Yet Another City

p.s. When / How do we get our city name changed?

Bootstoots
Jul 17, 2003, 03:25 PM
Mayor zorven,

I think a settler would be a good idea for Yet Another City. I have no idea as to whether the spearman is heading for Yet Another City or not. I think we should switch over production to a settler from a spearman whether Yet Another City will receive the spearman or not, as we are not at war and YAC appears to be in no danger. As far as name change, that will be performed as soon as whoever is supposed to name it gets around to giving it a name. I'll be looking forward to seeing a city thread soon.

Your governor,
Bootstoots

zorven

Governor Bootstoots,

Based on your feedback, my recommendation is:
1) Change production to a Settler.
2) In 6 turns our town will grow to size 2. The new laborer should be put to work on the grassland (with road) to the SE of town.
3) In 12 turns (from now), one laborer needs to be moved to the forest NW of town.

This will allow our town to produce a settler 20 turns from now. I will add advice later for what we should build after that.

zorven
Mayor of Yet Another City

p.s. I will add a city thread when our permanent name is given.

Please add South Bootia and South Gingerbread City to the city list.

When will we rename theese cities?

I belive the current que of Library, Settler is fine.

Also, i noticed the save says Bootia was founded in 3900 BC  Is Bootia that old?

Bootstoots
Jul 18, 2003, 12:36 PM
I have no idea when the cities will be given permanent names. It could conceivably take weeks. I will want you, Mayor zorven, to start a city thread soon, and you can change the title of the thread if Yet Another City gets a permanent name.

Also, I've noticed that about the city founding dates too. There must be some kind of bug, because there is that problem with all cities, not just Bootia.

And one more thing, we have three cities, Gingerbread City, South Gingerbread City, and South Bootia, that need mayors. Please sign up here if you are at all interested.

Dear Governor,

I am writing to apologize for the recent errors I made regarding the instructions for your province. I do not know how the build queue regarding the spearman/temple was overlooked on my part but rest assured that in the future I will take much more care in doing the build queues of all the governors. Please accept my apologies in this matter.

The laborer instructions are more than just an oversight as I engaged in an incredible amount of micromanaging these last turns in an effort to keep our science rate up at 70% without running a deficit (per domestic leader instructions). In some cities both food and shield produciton was sacrificed in the effort to keep our treasury our of the red. I am not sure at this time if the city in question was part of this fund raising effort or not. (I do not have access to the game right now.) Another trouble with the laborer instruction process is that (generally) the game play instruction thread is consulted during the preturn and instructions for later turns are difficult to remember and/or find again in the heat of game play. This also affects requests for worker actions. We need a more efficient way of posting instructions so that those pertianing to turns after the preturn are consoolidated into one post in the game play instruciton thread. Perhaps our VP would go through the various game play instructions and copy those for the later turns into a single post itemizing them per turn. Of course this would require that governors not post instructions at the last minute.

If you can help to formulate a more efficient means of posting post-pre-turn instructions it would be greatly appreciated and would be a great service to your country as well.

Thank you,
donsig

Dear President,
I thank you for the apology, and I would myself like to apologize for carrying it too far by filing a PI against you for trivial offenses. I will not PI you or any future President again due to small oversights, keeping in mind the grand scheme of things.

It may be best if you played the preturn along with the chat as is normally done, rather than in a separate offline session. This way, leader and governor instructions conducted after the preturn stand a much lesser chance of being forgotten. The idea you had for the VP sounds like a great idea, and I'm sure that CG would be willing to do it.

Again, thank you for your apology, which I accept completely.

Thank you,
Bootstoots

Dyer Maker - You have been made Mayor of Gingerbread City. Please create a city thread, with a screenshot of your city's radius. Thanks! Now we just need one more mayor!

Perhaps we could get started on the Provincial Government idea, which might be able to be implemented now that we have four mayors.

But I do play the pre-turn along with the chat. The only special off-line preturn was the one where we established the embassy with Babylon and renegotiated our peace treaties. I think the best way to find these oversights quickly is to you the pre-turn save that is uploaded after the pre-turn is complete. Anyone is free to download that save and check around for any mistakes that are made in pre-turn. Any that are found can be brought to the DP's attention during the chat and corrected right then and there. :)

suggestions for gbc

1. Temple
2. Courthouse
3. Library

this post is 710AD, but i have recieved information from the govenor that this city still produces Library.

1. A temple is cheaper than a library. Also, when the upcoming switch to democracy is made we might need the decrease in unhappiness depending on how lux trade deals look.

2. Since GBC has shown signs of having high corruption and waste* AND is located in a high production site, we could gain many shields by putting up an early courthouse.

*
out of 3 shields, 2 goes to waste
out of 4 shields, 2 goes to waste
out of 5 shields, 3 goes to waste

D'yer Mak'er
Jul 25, 2003, 06:04 AM
one thing I don't understand though, is why the temple in Gorina generates 4 culture, while all other temples only generate 2?

Bootstoots
Jul 25, 2003, 06:35 AM
When a culture building is up for over a thousand years, it generates double the culture. For instance, at the beginning of the game, the Palace generates only 1 culture but that doubles to 2 after 3000 BC (assuming your capital was founded in 4000 BC)

D'yer Mak'er
