altough ptw has some really good features, i'd wait a few months and buy civ III conquest, the new expansion. of course, if you got money enough, and really like playing online, go for it!

I'm getting PTW so I can play as the new Civs and get the single-player updates. I noticed PTW games LOOK different than regular ones- the forests, for example, and the ocean.

Like Zeekater said, wait for Conquests unless you have extra $$ or you want to play multiplayer. As far as I know, you will still need PTW to play multiplayer even if you have Conquests.

Actually, I just read that Conquest will include all PTW content and multiplayer !!

I'd probably get PTW now, and get the 1.21 patch, and enjoy the new PTW civs and the Multiplayer world using a nice stable game.

It will take them a while to get the kinks out of Conquests (it was some time before PTW was playable, really.)

You could buy Conquests new, for 40 or so, and help them with field-testing. Or you can pick up PTW for 20 bucks now, and Conquests for about that when it's properly baked.

It depends, how much is $30 worth to you? If you think a few months of play till Conquests comes out (it'll also retail for $30 I'm thinking) is worth it to you go for it. I would.

BTW, Conquests today seems more stable than PTW was on release day.

it's worth getting PTW for the new civs, in my opinion. i wish they had added another religious/industrious civ (so far egypt is the only one)
i just think those are the two best traits...

I was at best Bust Buy today and was asked to give a 3 minute customer evaluation in exchange for a $5 gift certificate, so the 14.99 price for PTW was a no-brainer.

Play The World is worth it but for those of us who already have PTW, it sounds like they're sticking it to us with Conquests.

I would wait for Conquests unless you're really into the Civ series and can't wait until Oct. 28 (I've got that date memorized). It'll have everything PTW does and more.

Your decision also depends where you're at. The American patches for PTW came out months before the European patches were available. Atari promised that wouldn't happen again, but you can't be sure. If Conquests needs patches (probably not an "if" statement) and you're playing in Europe, you may not be able to get a playable version of Conquests until sometime next year. You pays your penny and you takes your choice.

BTW, welcome to CFC.
