I am looking for 1 serious multiplayer partner to start a game and play a couple of hours 1 night a week at a regular time each week. Parameters are negotiatible on Play the World version.

I am experienced in AI play, Not much multiplayer experience.

I'm willing to play. The thing is, I can play quite a bit until August 11, and then after that I can't really stick to a schedule, but I should probably be able to play an hour a week. Judging by my experience, you won't find much more commitment than that. :/ Sorry if it's not serious enough for you. We can always contact each other via PM, to find out when we can play each session, instead of sticking to a rigid schedule. I live in Alabama, so that's only one hour behind you; which is great for MP.

Here are my suggested settings, if you wanna play:

-regent
-simultaneous moves
-small map
-Sn00py's graphics
-random map settings
-all victory conditions enabled except for UN
-some sort of quick victory condition, such as regicide or elimination
-my civ: Iroquois

But of course feel free to make any changes. Also, I have version 1.21f, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you use that version. In fact, I wouldn't want to play you if you don't.

Let's hope this works out. :) I started a multiplayer thread myself (see sig), but so far nothing's really happened. If this goes well, I'll "stop" my other thread (by telling everyone I'm not interested anymore).

I am game. I will be on vacation Aug 3-10. We can schedule the next session from each session. How bout a regular size map. You can name the other features. I am good with the ones that you have named so far. I will tell you that I am very experienced playing AI, but not so with multiplayer. May need a little help in getting set up.

Sorry, I was away from home and missed last night. Standard size map is fine. How many AI opponents do you want? Maybe zero or one? Two would probably the most I'd want. The more AI, the greater the possiblity that we never/rarely have any interesting contact.

I'm not all that experienced in multiplayer, but I know the basics (getting set up, how it works, etc.). I'll be there when you set it up, so we can chat if you need help. As for experience with the AI, I'm about regent level or so; not that good, not that bad.

I can theoretically play pretty much any time for the rest of today, considering I have nothing planned, but other people use the computer (plus something might come up). If I could name a time, I'd say 9:00 for one hour (which is 10:00 for one hour in your timezone)? And as you said, we can make schedules from each session (with the chat feature). We can also use PMs (private messages, which you send/receive from the UserCP, which is one of the buttons at the top of the screen); we probably shouldn't continue using this thread for scheduling. Also, are any days/nights usually better than others for you? For example, are your Sunday nights generally free? Just so that we can get a general schedule going.

And click the location bar (in the main multiplayer screen) a couple of times; make sure it says "Internet," not "local."

Hey wwhill, are you currently viewing the multiplayer load game/setup screen? Are you able to select yourself as the second slot? I can't select you as the second slot, so I hope you're able to.

If you say nothing happened after the launch, that must mean I'm by myself in this screen, which would mean that as far as I know, it's impossible for me to load you in as a human opponent. :mad: Arrgh... Frustrating...

Extremely sorry. :o What should we do now? We either have to settle for reloading, where both of us will be a little messed up (because the AI controlled you for a while, and the turn limit was acting strange, so I missed out on a lot of desired actions, and I was extremely rushed). Or we could start over. Man, I wish I had saved it as a different file...

Never heard about the gamespy patch. I don't think it would matter, considering Gamespy is only used for finding players (such as in the main multiplayer screen), not setting up games. At least as far as I know.

Where can I get it? I'll try downloading it.

I loaded another game to make sure that I was working ok.

I think I know what the problem is. When we quit the first session, my geme did not come down as soon as you announced that we would quit. I went ahead and exited the game myself. I think that I must have left while you were saving the game. As a result the AI took orver, so that when we started the next day the computer recognized my player as an AI and not a human.

We will have to start a new game. I am availible tonite. Let me know when are.

This time when I say I'm quitting, I'll be absolutely sure to quit immediately, and how about you wait 15 or so seconds before you quit, just to be absolutely sure. :) I'll also save it as a different file each and every time, in case we mess up, and upon reloading sucessfully I'll delete the old file. Just to be safe.

No I am still alive and kicking. In fact your attempted onslaught on my armies was worse than the hurricane and we survived that. The hurricane did not do much here.

Well, unfortunately I was sitting at my computer, trying to edit a picture but it wouldn't all fit on the screen (which is necessary for the cut-and-paste thing I was trying to do), so I decided to change the resolution, but I accidentally changed it to more than my video card could handle, and the screen went black and I couldn't get to Windows. After a lengthy tech support call, I realized how to get to safe mode and switch resolutions back with that. I feel so stupid... And of course I wasn't able to play.

Anyway, I'll probably be available tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (usual time). Not all of those days, but at least one of them. I'll post again when I'm ready.

Sorry, my brother needed the computer for a school project. Also, lately I've been sick, and I thought I was getting better but apparently not. At the scheduled time I was way too tired to feel like playing Civ3. But my brother's getting a computer for Christmas (he actually got it today, since it'll take a long time to set up). Once it's up and running we'll probably be able to play more.

Oh, and what times are you often available, besides 10-11pm eastern? Or is that the only time you're often available? Maybe if we could arrange a wider possible time frame we'd find more opportunities to play. As for me, on days w/ school I'm generally able to play an hour during 5-11pm eastern. On other days (weekends and holidays) I'm generally able to play for a couple hours a day, almost any time of the day. This is of course excluding activities outside of school, but that shouldn't interefere too much.

Oh, and judging by last night, I won't be able to play tonight.

I can play other times to, but we will have to schedule it as we go. Let me know when you are ready again.
