Umm... with this thread being started in the Civ 3 forum, I’m guessing that we're talking about only Civ 3 governments, and that would rule out Fanaticism. While it was great for Civ 2, I’m going to have to go with Republic early, and if I need the money (usually not) i go for Democracy once the AI has researched it and traded it away to me for something they find more valuable, like those warehouses full of luxuries I usually have lying around. :D

Anarchy- without it you'd be stuck in depotism the whole game, unable to change governments.

So Bacon King, having a catastrophic production rate, and double worker job time is important to you?

I figure that Republic is the most all-round gov't - good for peace and useful in war.

Always in Democracy. If I go to war, I go into Anarchy and, since it usually takes about 7 turns, by the time it asks me to pick a new government, I go back to Democracy because the war's already over! That's why I do all my building before the war, I never rely on reinforcements.
