Hello.

This is a specialist Multi-figure unit for Civ3, "Pioneers."
Made from the default Civ3 Rifleman, and "Modern" Settler, with the "Riderless Horse" created by Kryten.

My recommended stats, are, well, I made it to be an Expansionist-only Settler unit, availible with "Imperialism" (a late Middle Age tech), with "all terrain as roads" flag. I won't go into more specifics, since I've severly modified everything, but I suggest just make this to be a Settler, but better!

Oh yeah, it does have an attack animation as well - I gave it no attack value, but a low defense value to fend off units that would be obsolete by the time this unit can be built.

Installation:

Just unzip the file to art/units/Pioneers/ (or whatever you wish to name the unit - the .ini uses the name Pioneers), and have fun. The .ini is set up to use the default Calvary sound effects, as well.

This is seriously a very unique and necessary addition to any "Age of Sail" based mods (and general DyP type of mods) out there.

A great unit, and I added it to my mod immediately!

But since I gave it only to expansionist civilizations, I fear that the rest of the civs should be balanced for it somehow. Any ideas? Or should I just make them available to them all?

Thanks for the compliments all.

As for balance with other Civs, I give them a wagon-settler type unit, but make them alot slower than the pioneers - no terrain as roads flag.

very good idea!
i understood your pioneer as a settler but a little quicker and with the Attck/ Defense pts as a musketman, anyway, i putted it in my mod as it and i thank you!

why not creating a wheeled settler? or a plane settler?

Great job, I really like it. So much in fact that I'd like to request versions of these from all four erras.

Settler with warrior
Settler with spearman
Settler with roman flair
Settler with viking flair

You did a great job, btw, can't wait to see more from you.

Those last two are for personal reasons :)

Hehe, actually I'm working on a unit called "Tribe" which consists of the vanilla warrior, settler, and worker.

Civ3 editing is really on the back burner at the moment though, been working on maps and skins for Jedi Academy, and been playing too much. :o

Spincrus is right about it being really handy for Age of Sail Scenarios!!! Their looks fit right in and they help against those masses of barbarians on uninhabited areas of the map!!!

Also, I hope to see Bjorn's new unit coming out with the warrior, worker and settler- the tribe.

Keep up the good work all!

Like what, just a scout and a settler together? Would it require any combat animations? What's it supposed to all do?

Hehehe I don't really like to take requests, that is partly why - I want to make things how I want it, and not how I (guess) other people want it... so you'd have to post what exactly you would want the unit to do, before I'll consider it.

Actually, Rufus T. Firefly came through for me on the Settler/Scout, so no worries. Thanks though. :)
