After having looked around, I haven't been able to find any answers.
I'm trying to take a portion from a file with one colour table, and add it to another with a different colour table - where moving one to the other conforms the new graphic with the files colour table, and takes out many of the colours I want it to keep.
I'm thinking I need to somehow add the first colour table to the second - enlarging the second - but don't know how.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try to convert the first pic to 24bit before adding it to the second. However, that could also mean color loss. But normally the software should try to convert the pic from 24bit to the 8bit color table of the second pic as best as possible.

:)
I have the same problem ... I have just think about a solution that I didn't test yet but I will . Perhaps it's enough to load for the two pictures a same largest color palette where you can find the colors of the two pictures . I think it's perhaps possible to create a picture with all the colors and to create a large color palette from this picture... I will test it ...
For your previous question, 10seven, unfortunatly I don't have a 3D programm ( for the moment ) which could allow me liberty to create. But I will think how I can answer to your resquest . I will be happy to create new advisors ...

I found a utility at CDG that lets you click on a colour, thereby adding it to a palete - this would seem, so far, the best way of adding the two paletes together - albeit a long process. I have very little experience with photoshop :(
Frenchman :) any help would be greatly appreciated :) I've also decided to solicit play testing during the next month - though this will have a number of 'placeholder' graphics, until dedicated graphics are made - I'm also researching a little more into the Laotian area of conflict, and think this will see the addition of another civilisation... Just email me when/if you're latter able.

If you save the pallet from your main image first.
(a .ACT file in Photoshop)
Then in the second image you can switch from Indexed Color to RGB and then switch the image back to Indexed Color making sure to select Custom Pallet (the .ACT file you saved).
Photoshop will then remap the pixels quite nicely.
If you are still needing more colors you could look for another .PCX file that look like it has the colors you need, save the .ACT pallet file and remap both images to the new pallet.
Hope this helps.
