I'm attempting to make a scenario for myself and some online friends, who play our own version of a NES at Sarge506's HQ (http://www.sarge506.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?s=3f3c57fe1799ffff;act=SF;f=42) . You have to register to read the news, but it's sometimes entertaining. I decided to make a Civ scenario based on the game. I was exploring the editor that came with my GOTY edition and decided to improve the dead-endness of swordsmen by making two new units- Medieval Foot Soldier and Offensive Musketman. I figured I didn't want the MFS to look like a Swordsman, so I slid the icon over to the icon used for Immortals. I used the Musketeer's icon for the Offensive Musketman. And from this, I have my first question- will the units look like immortals and musketeers, and have their animations?
I made a new goverment, fascism. I gave it the production of democracy, the trade of republic, and the corruption of a monarchy. I also made the rush strategy whipping. To enable fascism, you have to research Nationlism- I figured this was pretty accurate. Do any of you have suggestions for improving this?
In our NES, my nation is an incredibly small four-city island. My goverment is one inspired by Plato's book The Republic. which oulines a perfect society where philosophers would be the leaders because they were the wisest. Also going with Plato's beliefs, my nation, being (hopefully) the only nation that would pursue this, favors it and shuns Democracy, since Plato didn't like it- he felt too many unqualified people held important posistions and that masses of people often make incorrect or rash decisions. I agree with the latter, so this suits me.. Anyway, I made the prerequisite for this goverment Philosophy- which comes early in the game, but then again, Plato DID live from 427 to 347 BC. Does that sound reasonable? (I mean making the key tech Phil- I'm not inviting a political discussion. :lol)
Also, since my civ is incredibly small, yet still a major producer in the game, I needed to come up with a way to make this the same in the scenario. Since according to my civ's constitution in our NES that the leader is trained in various schools, I added a new improvement called the Leadership Training Academy, that requires Philosophy and MUST be built in the capitol city. I have two problems, however. I would like to make its icon in the game the same as the Military Academy, and I would like it to be able to produce Leaders. Yep, I want to produce Great LEaders from the city I have this improvement in- I figure with GLs rushing wonders and such, I can play catchup with the AI. But I didn't want the AI doing the same, so I just disabled the abilty to have leaders for the other civs. They can deal with it- I've never seen the AI produce a GL, anyway. Is there any way to get these two wishes met? I made the cost for these Trained Leaders fairly expensive- at the same cost as wonders. I'm also looking for a "can't rush" key to make sure you can't whip your cities into oblivion so you can rush the Pyramids.
I also edited some of the Wonders. Places that are actual locations like the Pyramids, the Sistine Chapel, Copernicus' Observatory- I made them give a trade effect. You know, tourism. Sound reasonable?
I'd appreciate any and all replies. And thanks for reading..I'll continue poking my head in this editor trying to find something.
