This is the widely popular game from TechTV's Unscrewed with Martin Sargent. Props to TechTV. There are two versions of the game.

Original Rules:

1. There are no rules.

2. Actually, there are several rules.

3. Up to three contestants, the first three people to respond with an answer are the three contestants.

4. The Searchmaster chooses a number between 1 and 200,000,000.

5. The contestants must choose a Google search query that will generate a total number of results closest to the Searchmaster's number.

6. The contestant whose total is closest to the Searchmaster's number is the winner. The winner becomes the new Searchmaster, the new Searchmaster may decide what type of game they want to start, or invent their own.

Variant Rules:

1. The Searchmaster chooses three similar sounding words.

2. The contestant must pick out the word that they think will generate the most results.

3. The contestant who picks out the correct word wins. The winner becomes the new Searchmaster.

Being the first Searchmaster, I will start a standard game.

The number I have chosen is 2,570,000.

Searched the web for sodium. Results 1 - 10 of about 2,670,000. Search took 0.08 seconds

Dang, are these your guy's first guesses or are you just trying to find a good one? ;)

Well I did search one or two other things to get an idea of things but then I thought Civilization would be a good guess. :)

Bah! Nevermind the fact that while Perfection was off by a hundred-thousand results, mine was dead-on with photographic proof (It's midnight, I'm bored, what else am I gonna do?)

Oh well. It doesn't really matter, I just like complaining. Here's my submission for Perfection's number.

I searched 'Perfection', got 2,120,000 results

HMMM, It went down 20,000 in 7 minutes, weird! I'll give it to you cause that's the one I used.

 I figured thats what you used. And the results do vary on Google. Earlier today when I looked up 'bored' it was 2,590,000, then 2,530,000 a few hours later.

Anywho...My number is 8,130,000. Brownie points if anyone can actually guess what I searched, as unlikely as that may be.

Why did Perfection get the last guess when me and Junzi were closer?

Perfection
Aug 18, 2003, 07:34 AM
Because I had a cooler word

SPAM!!!

I guess it wasn't that unlikey anyway. Shoulda chosen a word that had nothing to do with CFC. Well, Perfection guessed the word, so I don't need to check Google results. You're up, Perfection.
