View Full Version : Defend Your Castle
Cimbri Aug 22, 2003, 12:32 PM Defend Your Castle (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/castle.html)
This online game is so funny... Kill the little men… :yeah:
#1 Edit: You must pick up the little men and drop them from the sky
#2 Edit: You can upgrade your castle between the levels
#3 Edit: Here is a short what-to-do:
Buy a temple first. You can now convert the little men by gently dropping them into your castle.
You’ll now gain manpower used in the castle improvements.
Get the manapool to train wizards. They can use death- and convert spells. As you increase the amount of wizards, you’ll also gain a more powerful ‘detonate’ spell (Tactical nuke).
Acquire some archers for automatic defence, and the workshop can do you good as well (repairing your castle during battle).
Remember to reinforce and upgrade your walls between levels.
Keep in mind that you can loose some of your men during battle, so always have reinforcements in your manpower pool.
CivCube Aug 22, 2003, 01:03 PM Wonder if Bootstoots has seen this yet...?
This game is awesome!
brandonbowler Aug 22, 2003, 01:33 PM Man i think i got over 800 little men and almost upgraded it to full.
And my wrist hurts like hell!
CivCube Aug 22, 2003, 01:43 PM Ha! I dropped over a thousand of those guys and got the Mana Pool. :D
Then they got out the Big Stick Figure....
Cimbri Aug 22, 2003, 01:56 PM I hate those little men... Keep away from my keep!!!
 Don't click the 'sore wrist' button... Pop-up-inferno! :ack:
Wolfe Tone Aug 22, 2003, 02:01 PM That is cool, except Opera crashed, so I have to wait until it loads again.
Alex the Great Aug 22, 2003, 02:15 PM How do the Archery range, demolition lab, etc. work?
It's amazing how they keep coming! What sort of commander just sends in such endless melee attacks? Why not use artillery or siege the castle?
puglover Aug 22, 2003, 02:15 PM I killed about 280 of the little idiots before I quit. Do archers do anything?
Wolfe Tone Aug 22, 2003, 02:40 PM The archers fire at incoming troops, they are quite handy at thining out the ranks.
Alex the Great Aug 22, 2003, 02:42 PM They don't fire for me, how do I place them?
CivCube Aug 22, 2003, 03:25 PM Click on the red flag to place archers.
Casulties: 2279
Final score: 329280 :D
Aphex_Twin Aug 22, 2003, 04:19 PM Freeking addictive ! You should have see, raining little men, and blood, oh, the blood, the humanity !
Alex the Great Aug 22, 2003, 04:22 PM Great... level 12 and I still can't place archers. I'm thinkin' it has to do either with wall size or enemy casualties.
Because of the lack of archers 974 killed and a mesely score of 86660:devil2: :D On level 13:lol:
Cimbri Aug 22, 2003, 05:01 PM Oh God my wrist hurts
brandonbowler Aug 22, 2003, 05:27 PM jesus civcube!!
Smaasnekje Aug 22, 2003, 06:33 PM Smaasnekje moves his hands from the mouse to write something and his wrist makes sounds....
Japanrocks12 Aug 22, 2003, 07:45 PM what does temple do? mana pool?
Alex the Great Aug 22, 2003, 07:52 PM Temple zaps anyone who falls alive into your castle  . I haven't had the mana pool yet. How do you get uses for the workshop and archery?
CivCube Aug 22, 2003, 08:53 PM In order to place any type of unit into order, just click on their respective flag - red for archers, green for craftsman, and blue for wizards.
When you get the workshop, craftsman will be able to bring your castle's strength back up in the midst of battle.
The mana pool allows wizards, which can cast spells to defeat the enemy.
brandonbowler Aug 22, 2003, 10:46 PM But it wont do anythin when i click it it. The temple thing works but the archers dont work.
And how in the heck do you get that big huge guy down?
Alex the Great Aug 22, 2003, 10:47 PM I know you click the flags, but when I do nothing happens, the number below the flag on the tower stays at 0, I had men a few games ago but I don't know how your earn them.
And I still haven't figured out exactly how demolition labs work.
brandonbowler Aug 22, 2003, 10:52 PM i hear ya alex.

Clearly it's related to the Civ 3 AI...
Yoshimune Aug 23, 2003, 12:00 AM I figured it out... the temple doesn't zap people, it converts them. It takes a while, and then you'll have a person icon under the castle power level. Then you can click on the flags to train them.
So addictive! :)

WHOA!!! Those archers decimate, now time for wizards
Turner Aug 23, 2003, 02:31 AM Gets to be too easy after a bit.
Cimbri Aug 23, 2003, 06:17 AM Turner_727  Looks great!
Boy, I hate those small, fast, buggers...
Turner Aug 23, 2003, 06:23 AM It gets too easy after you have enough wizards. Then you just bomb them to death. . . .
I like converting the giants. . . don't ask my why.
Cimbri Aug 23, 2003, 07:21 AM I hate those exploding jerks. But they can be quite useful on occasions.
And yeah, converting the giant is fun :D
WillJ Aug 23, 2003, 07:42 AM Strangely addictive...
How do you use the demolition lab?

And how do you use the archers? I click on the flag and nothing happens. You should always purchase the temple first. When you drop the little bastards into your castle the temple will convert them. Then you will see some figures under your power bar, those are your available manpower.
You can then click on the various flags and that will add archers, wizards and workers.
May I recommend a few archers and lots of wizards.
Oh, and make sure you always have some available manpower, to account for the losses.
WillJ Aug 23, 2003, 08:34 AM @Cimbri: OK, thanks.
Alex the Great Aug 23, 2003, 10:39 AM Wait... do demolition labs create stick figure suicide bombers:eek: :crazyeye: Im still confused on this one. :hmm:
CivCube Aug 23, 2003, 10:41 AM They do indeed. Click on one of your men at the top, and one will come running out with dynamite strapped to him. Click on the fellow, and watch the carnage....
BTW, has anyone noticed that every now and then a dying guy yells like a dying archer in Civ 3?
Alex the Great Aug 23, 2003, 10:42 AM Really  :D ?
WillJ Aug 23, 2003, 10:51 AM Ah, so that's what the demolition lab is for...
And how do you pick up the big guys? I know you can kill them with spells, but ya'll have mentioned converting them, so how do you pick them up? Whenever I click them they just fall over and make that little noise that the others make when you drop them from too low a height.
CivCube Aug 23, 2003, 11:06 AM There's a converting spell as well. :D
WillJ Aug 23, 2003, 12:20 PM Originally posted by CivCube

CivCube Aug 23, 2003, 12:36 PM It probably just zaps them on the spot...I haven't made it that far. :(
WillJ Aug 23, 2003, 01:08 PM Originally posted by CivCube

I guess I'll try it out myself....
Alex the Great Aug 23, 2003, 02:40 PM It does create a beam WillJ, and its instantaneous (stupid speling:p ) You can read "Help" on the main menu. It describes everything. The thing is, you can't win. I mean if you can get past stage 17 (where I just died 2008, 274280) I'll bet it just keeps going, has anyone even seen an end in sight?:( And how do I keep losing converts :o?
CivCube Aug 23, 2003, 05:49 PM The reason you're losing units is because you don't have enough points to maintain them. I don't think there's an end to it either, as it's an arcade game.
Alex the Great Aug 23, 2003, 06:15 PM Oh:eek: Thank you...I didn't realize that.
Alex the Great Aug 23, 2003, 08:14 PM Jeez! They start sending suicide bombers:eek: And for every one you blow up a series of five spring up. . Good thing I have over 15 of archers, a few craftsmen, and ALOT of wizards:goodjob:
They start at about stage 20, I'm up to 28 :D  :)
 Over 12,000 casualties and a score of 2,387,410:eek:
273,000 for fort strength:p AND over 100,000 points in reserve.
Cimbri Aug 23, 2003, 08:31 PM CivCube that avatar!!! :rotfl:
@Alex the Great: Use the exploding jerks to your advantage. They can take quite a lot of Giants, little men, and other exploding jerks with them in their fiery death.
brandonbowler Aug 23, 2003, 08:33 PM How do you convert the big huge guys? I can't even pick them up!
I FINNALY got my archers to shoot and crap! :mwaha:
CivCube Aug 23, 2003, 08:41 PM Originally posted by brandonbowler

If you have enough wizards, you get a converting spell. :yeah: Yeah brandonbowler. Then just select the spell and click at the giants, that’ll convert those heathens.
I prefer blowing them all to heck though :yeah: Its much more beneficial in the long run. Increase your manpower by dropping the men into your castle instead.
The ‘convert spell’ takes a lot of mana.
brandonbowler Aug 23, 2003, 09:32 PM ooooooooooooo :o
brandonbowler Aug 23, 2003, 09:35 PM Civcube, personally i liked your other avatar better that this one.

Also, I've decided never to buy the demolition lab, considering that using up a potential wizard/archer/crafstman just so you can have your own suicide bomber running around (even though the enemy's suicide bombers are plentiful) is extremely stupid.
But anyway, thanks a million to whoever created this game. :goodjob: Very ingenius...
Rout Aug 23, 2003, 10:13 PM This game is fantastic...muahahahahha:jump: :mwaha: :die:
Alex the Great Aug 24, 2003, 01:13 AM Great avatar civ cube:goodjob:
I'm amazed at how you can hold back a front from just one bomber. Click on man, he blows up with other people, game automatically sends in new guy, repeat.
Also get wizards as soon as possible. I have well over 300 and I cast endless conversion spells, much quicker and effective than bombing or dropping. I doth converteth the heathens:devil2: :die: :worship: :jesus:
Knight-Dragon Aug 24, 2003, 11:22 AM Moved to Other Games...
naervod Aug 24, 2003, 12:28 PM Game is amazingly fun. only got to Lvl11 and wished I hadn't wasted money on a demo workshop.

phoenix_night Aug 24, 2003, 04:44 PM It does get easy after a while.
1.6 million points and 100+ each of archers, craftsmen and wizards.
I bet it would complete the next stage without needing me to raise a finger...
tctatheel7 Aug 24, 2003, 05:50 PM lol, this game is great!
Dale Aug 24, 2003, 10:57 PM Only got to level 22 before getting bored.
Spendable money: 842100
Score: 1142540
Casualties: 6433
Must admit a lot of fun though. :D
I only had 40 archers, 10 repairers and 50 wizards. Just cast constant fireball spells. I like how you can click on the enemy exploders and not waste any mana killing heaps. Mwahahahaha!
Turner Aug 25, 2003, 07:00 AM I went to their website, and after killing all the pop-ups, found out that the game does not end. It just keeps going and going.
I had over 100 archers, 100 wizards, and a small handfull of workers. Didn't hardly use the workers after I got enough wizards and archers.
Great game, but I fear that I've done all I can and will not return. . .maybe if they mixed it up a bit. . .
phoenix_night Aug 25, 2003, 07:32 AM Does everyone know you can save your game? At the end of a stage if you click save, and then save the webpage. When you open it up again and click load it does actually take you back to your save!
[Okay, obvious, but I'm excited 'cos now I'll have massive scores]
By now, the stages just complete themselves without myself having to do anything...
300000 points of foritification, 300 archers, 300 wizards, 300 craftsmen, 19000 casualties and 3.7 million points...
Zarn Aug 25, 2003, 10:59 AM Stage Finished: 25
Score: 1,930,130
Money: 405,944
Castle Strength: 130,000 (I think)
Archers: 450
Wizards: 150
Craftsmen: 20
Reserves: Unknown
All changes I make will be in this post to prevent spam.
Silverflame Aug 25, 2003, 11:46 AM The only hard part is making the jump to the big men. If you've got too many wizards/archers, they will all die off. Save the converts as regular men so they won't die, then have like 15 of each. After a few levels or so they won't die off anymore, and it's basically just clicking the mage spell over and over and over again.
Oh and a trick for those of you with sore wrists: If you flick the mouse to the left the men will fly up real high and go down splat. It's easier, I think.
G-Force Junkie Aug 26, 2003, 10:48 PM For today's forecast, we predict 500 soldiers to fall from the sky. Tommorrow's forecast is twice that. Be sure to pack an umbrella.
tctatheel7 Aug 27, 2003, 06:43 PM
i always think of those poor paratroopers whose shoots didn't open when i see the little guys hitting the ground
nivi Aug 30, 2003, 07:43 AM This game is FUN. One of the best time killers i seen.
I am about to go to stage 18 and i have yet to use an archer or a crafstman, :)
I have 2876 cas'
and 41500 castle power :)
And every improvment purchased.
I have a ton of manpower but when i turn them to wizards they keep getting killed so i barly have wizards now in the turn change, but in the stage i turn about 10 wizards and that is fine.
Cimbri Sep 02, 2003, 07:38 AM My wrist hurts sooo bad :ack:
Paalikles Sep 07, 2003, 07:52 AM Score 75280...got in trouble when my arm got tired;)
Quokka Sep 15, 2003, 07:47 PM Great game for a while. After stage 15 I had enough wizards to constantly do either the Explosive or Convert spells and the game got easy and my arm had time to rest. When they start sending the Demo guys it gets even easier. I stopped at level 30 with over 500,000 spendable points.

@Lord Draegon: You'll never get to stage 100, because level 35 just repeats itself infinitely.

IglooDude Dec 16, 2003, 07:20 AM Very cool game. I've got 100+ wizards, 400 archers, 50 craftsmen, and a 100K point castle, and I don't have to lift (or click) a finger anymore - the archers get darn near everyone, and the suicide bombers that do get through don't do much more than a dent that takes a few seconds to repair. Level 40-something, 31000 casualties, 6 million points or so, and just clicking to go on to the next level every once in a while.
puglover Dec 17, 2003, 01:29 PM AA! I can't BELIEVE I was defeated! :wallbash: It's the stupid Cheaptickets ad. I move the stickguys to the top of the screen and a drop down ad comes up RIGHT OVER MY GAME! So I have to click out of it and then I find 6 stickmen banging at my gate!

LOL... I was just getting ready to say, I am at about level 70 or so, and can verify that it does NOT stop at 35. These levels are lasting like 20 minutes now, and I think the last one showed something like 2500 enemy stickfigure guys were casualties, I'm up to 100,000 casualties total now.
Bring it on, suicide bombers!! I've got enough additional wall and enough craftsmen to let every one of you crash into the castle...
hbdragon88 Dec 17, 2003, 08:19 PM If you buy a CD that has all the games (Stick RPG, Defend Your Castle, Fishy, and more) there are dragons in it. It looks very cool. Except I won't pay $12.95 when $3.95 of it is shipping.
I used to play, but it gets boring...and repetitive. After I trained enough archers most of the suicide bombers and big stick guys are blown up before they get to the castle. And they're so efficient that it might be three minutes before I finally grab a stick figure to drop into the castle.
I like Stick RPG better.

You have to have enough points for mantainance of the "workers." I forget how much it is for each one; I think it's 100. If it is 100, what that means is that if you plan on having, say, 200 total men working for you by the end of the level, be sure to have 20,000 spare points coming into the level. Any ones that can't be paid because of lack of funds die.

D'oh! After one level all my archers, wizards. and repairers died. I knew the end was near...
trumpeteer Jan 26, 2004, 08:03 AM Now I know where my mind is. I haven't even started the game, but noticed the word "manapool" in the help. Reading further, I found that to convert an enemy I need 2000 mana. Damn! The only thing that could get THAT much mana would be an elf deck!!!
*Runs from mob of angry Magic: the Gathering players upset at his terrible MTG joke...
wildWolverine Jan 26, 2004, 02:43 PM query: after each round, i lose tons of men -- ~70% of wizards, ~80% of archers, and all of my repairers. I have more than enough points to spend on upkeep, i did not use any detonate spells close to my castle, and none of hte attackers even touched the castle. what am i doing wrong?
edit: never mind -- i finally figured it out -- "Spendable Points" can't be used to pay upkeep -- only for fortifications, repairs, etc. -- on each level, your intake must exceed your upkeep costs.
Lord Draegon Feb 21, 2004, 07:32 PM Ok, everything on my computer just got messed up so I had to Start over. Man I havent played it in so long and so I tottaly suck for now.
the mormegil Feb 22, 2004, 12:09 PM I got to level 30 but then it got boring because it became so easy. I had so many men I could just let my archers kill all the attackers and I had so many wizards that my mana bar never got lower than convert even when I was constantly clicking.
Bootstoots Feb 22, 2004, 06:35 PM I was just defeated on level 15 (or maybe 16) with a score of just under 200,000 and a casualty count of just under 1700. Addicting game!
willemvanoranje Feb 24, 2004, 12:56 PM this is nice
damunzy Feb 24, 2004, 02:17 PM If you have the web browser opera it is possible to save the game to your hard drive.
Bootstoots Feb 24, 2004, 03:46 PM I lost again, this time at stage 16 with a score of around 248,000. Why is it that I will suddenly lose most of my units in a later level, when I have enough points to easily pay for all of them and without setting off any explosions?
willemvanoranje Feb 24, 2004, 04:49 PM this is really easy...stage 17 now...over 240.000 points...still playing ;)
willemvanoranje Feb 24, 2004, 04:58 PM correction, stage 17 complete, over 420.000 points
damunzy Feb 25, 2004, 02:30 PM I keep losing my guys - and it has nothing to do with my amount coming in and earlier it had nothing to do with taking damage - has anyone figured out why this happens sometimes and not others?
the mormegil Feb 25, 2004, 03:42 PM You have to have enough to support those units before you do the stage. You will lose ALL the men you can't afford.
Xi 12 Feb 27, 2004, 05:55 PM Unit upkeep is 200 per unit.
the mormegil Feb 28, 2004, 07:07 AM I think it's only 50 for builders though.
damunzy Feb 28, 2004, 03:17 PM True, 200 for wizards and archers, and 50 for workers. I always thought they went by how much you made not how much you didn't spend the turn before.
Got 200+ archers, 160 Mages and 50 workers. Going for the record. ;)
the mormegil Feb 28, 2004, 03:24 PM What's the record?
Nylan Feb 28, 2004, 07:50 PM You have to use your wizards to kill, convert or blow up the big men. They are "too heavy" for the mouse to pick up.
the mormegil Feb 29, 2004, 03:30 AM Archers can still kill them and you can knock them over.

There's no point in knocking them over, they get up fast and you can't keep them from the castle for more than ten seconds. Either have the archers or use one of the wizard weapons to kill them.
