Hi,

I'm looking for 2-5 opponents for a PTW1.27 pbem game. Min. 4 turns per week. Max. number of AI players.

Here are the settings (can be negotiated):
- world size large or huge (yes, it will be a long game...)
- barbarians sedentary or roaming
- land mass continents
- water 70%
- climate normal
- temperature temperate
- age 4 billion years
- difficulty regent or monarch

Victory conditions domination, space race, diplomatic, conquest and cultural.
No accelerated production.

(Copied these settings from Crocodile´s thread - thanx:goodjob: )

a game with a large or huge map will take quite a while to play obviously...

I was thinking you should wait until the expansion is released, then start the game...

If so, I'd join.

That's o.k.

I'm interested. Newbie to PBEM games here, but am a pretty decent CIV player.
I'm on U.S. West coast time, (Pacific Standard Time) and can usually play in the Evenings/Late night most days of the week. I can sneak in a few hours at work also when the boss is gone. ;)

Count me in as the Egyptians. My address is "mmcauliffe at pclv dot com"

I'm in Las Vegas, NV and suggest that you order the players from east to west around the world so that the game moves most expeditiously.

I'd like to join in as the Ottomans.

Great!:p

Currently we´ve got 6 players:

Sourboy
Rubberjello - Random ???
Playboy - Egypt
Jo_the_stipper - Ottomans
TradeMarc - France
Louis Wu - Arabia

I personally would rather start one anyway, since Conquests may or may not even ship at the end of October (2 months away). We could all go for a smaller map and early conquest, and maybe have a shot at finishing it.

By the way...no preference on which Civ for me.

sourboy

we can always start another one when the expansion comes out...

go ahead and start if you'd like!

I agree with Sourboy and Rubberjello that we'd start a game right now and can start another with the expansion as soon as it's released. This can take a while here in Germany... :(

LouisWu
Sep 04, 2003, 11:27 AM
O.k., that suits me as well.
We've got 6 players so I'd like to propose we take a standard map instead of a large or huge one.
I need your civ-choices and E-Mail-Addies (if not posted yet) and then I'll start the game.

Order of play:
Playboy
Rubberjello
Sourboy
LouisWu
Jo_the_Stipper
Trade Marc

@ Jo:
Release-Date in Germany is Oktober 20th.

Like I said before, no Civ preference here....surprise me!

Playboy: About what time (PST) could I expect your turns to be passed on usually? No pressure...its just that my email addy is not a POP account and I have to manually check for anything new.

sourboy
Sep 07, 2003, 10:54 AM
no civ preference here, random is ok

LouisWu
Sep 07, 2003, 04:39 PM
I'll start the game now.:p

Order of play:

LouisWu
Playboy
Sourboy
Rubberjello
TradeMarc

Edit:
-> sent it to Playboy

Got the file. Played it, but I need Sourboy's email addy to forward the game.

RJ - I will usually pass the game within three hours of receiving it. I'll let you know as I start receiving the turns.

Got and played it. Sent it on. I am the Celts, btw. Thanks for starting up this game! :D

@Playboy: A moot point now that the play order has changed. Thanks for the response though.

Having established established uncontested dominion over nine tiles of territory, the hardworking and honorable Egyptian pipples do seek to expand their knowledge and spread the message of the Nile Gods and the afterlife.

We set forth to explore this terra incognito in pursuit of this quest. Barbarians will be dealt without mercy, while enlightened societies will be met with a spirit of friendship and co-operation.

We will respect the borders of any established municipalities, but our men shall feel free to explore anywhere not so marked.

*Sotto voice* ...Until you smack the snot out of them as soon as they turn their backs on you! :D

Errr...can we confirm the exact game settings? Size of map, Barb level, difficulty?
Thanks.

Are you insinuating, sir, that I am a dishonorable, backstabbing player?

Rubberjello
Sep 10, 2003, 10:23 AM
Noooooooo.....

Its just that my council of druids have advised me that any Civ/religion that comes out of the desert regions of the world cannot be trusted. Something to do with the sun worshippers and "the hot sun addling the brains" or some such. Everyone knows that its the Moon that is the primary divine celestial being guiding the lives of men.

(Dang! I've got to read up more on the Celts if we are going to do some roleplaying!)

TradeMarc
Sep 10, 2003, 03:14 PM
Interesting theory RJ, but that takes care of just about all the religions of any note. I am sure that this Civ adventure will prove once and for all that all men can live together forever in Peace and Harmony. Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean! Calm Blue Ocean!............................................ ...............................................

What's the status here folks? Did we even make the first round yet? Once a week will mean the default winner will be the player who physically doesn't die in the next 5 years! :D

I´ve cleared my mailbox just on thursday so that I can´t see if I sent it.

LouisWu

Just got the mail from Playboy. He says he received the save on the 11th and has send it to Sourboy a few minutes later. Sourboy, did you receive it and send it to the next player ? If so, either Rubberjello or TradeMarc are having the save at the moment  .

TradeMarc

I will send on again

TradeMarc

I have sent on to Jo the Stipper right?

Playboy
Sep 17, 2003, 09:19 PM
I sent it to kdsroka on 9/11 at 12:04am, and I know the addy was valid, because it was pulled from the same one I sent to on the first turn.

I suggest that we implement the very simple policy of sending an acknowledgement of receipt of game. That way, the host can poll the group if and when necessary, and determine the logjam within a few hours.

Rubberjello
Sep 17, 2003, 10:31 PM
Good Idea, Playboy.
I'll always reply with an Acknowledge of receipt.
Got turn 2 from Sourboy and sent onto Trademarc as per the time stamp on this post.

Actually it's more a can't install it on NT because I'm not an administrator problem. =)

Firing me wouldn't make such a big sense... have to start studying for university next month anyway.

I received the save game yesterday already but couldn't find any time to play it. Today it will be nearly impossible as well.
I hope to be able to play it tonight at 9 MET or tomorrow morning.

Sorry for the unconvience but I had to help my brother by moving to another place...

I'm really sorry but after my system crashed down (my old graphics card didn't want to be used any longer, so I had to get a new one) my email provider hamburg.de wanted to renew their servers so I couldn't download nor send any.

Now it's 3.30 o'clock in the night and I'm going to play the game in a second. I hope you still want to play on the game...

Playboy

Last sent 3800 BC on 10/4 at 9:21pm.

I have not received confirmation of receipt, but that's not unusual from this player.

It´s been another week since I´ve played my last turn (which in fact was actually the repeat of that turn). I´m tired of looking every week where the save got stuck and why. I´m out of this game.:suicide:
Sorry! :(

Rubberjello
Oct 25, 2003, 08:15 PM
Yes. Let's just put a stake through the heart and maybe try again in Conquests comes out?
