Hi all . In my last game ( PTW 1.21f , monarch ) I wanted 20K culture victory very much ( never got that before on monarch ) and did very good , my capitol had very early temple , almost every wonder available ( sure all the culture monsters like Shakespear's Theatre and Sistine Chapel ) and was producing 100+ CPT in middle 1400's . But at some point I've lost track of my overall culture and got 100K when capital was with 17K+ . What do you do in such cases ? Sell culture buildings ?? It is ridiqulous .

Yep, sell buildings. :(
Sometimes, your opponents might have enough culture (if not even more than you), so the 100k (respectively double culture amount) wouldn't be reached before 20k applies.
Well, you could not really influence that, maybe by not going to war yourself often.
But that's somewhat counter-productive for a 20k (especially: capital-) city as you probably need some GLs. Also, a slow tech pace to avoid ai wonder cascading is rather achieved by dragging the world into wars.

If some of your cities (not the capital) have built culture producing improvements very early (eg temple and libraries) they will be generating double culture points - what you could do is sell them then rebuild them to reduce their cultural influence but still retain their other effects for those cities. This may be enough to reduce your culture rating below the 100K level without sacrificing the other benefits of these buildings.

To speed this process up you could build some military units in other cities then when you sell any improvements send these units to that city and disband them to help rebuild the buildings more quickly.

I think the 20K is more of a security blanket incase the 100K is blocked by another civ with mucho culture. I think you just need to be glad that you won by culture. In the future, you could refrain from building too much culture in your empire or restrict the size of your empire. It doesnt make sense to destroy your own culture to avoid a win.

Budweiser, speaking of situations in which another civ has "mucho" culture, I had that situation in last month's GOTM (since the submission deadline has passed, I can talk about it.) Playing as the Vikings, I was determined to win via 100K culture, not only because it is my favorite victory type, but also, because of their combination of traits, a 100K cultural victory would be one of the more difficult roads to victory for them. England was a cultural giant, however. I decided to take out her top 5 cultural cities, which were conveniently closest to my empire, thinking that would slow her down enough for me to win when I achieved 100K points. Well, it didn't... I didn't win until I amassed 152K cultural points! I learned a big lesson: completely eliminate a civ that even appears too close for comfort. Just thought I would share. ;)

Your question has already been answered, but I'd like to add that there is a (relatively) easy way to get the 20k culture win on monarch: Play an OCC game. That's actually the only way I've got a culture win on monarch/emperor.
