Matrix Sep 04, 2003, 04:31 AM And let's hope it'll work this time. ;)
I'm looking forward to it in any case! http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/yeah.gif
Knight-Dragon Sep 04, 2003, 04:33 AM It better work. I'll there every step of the way to harrass it on. :p
Knight-Dragon Sep 04, 2003, 06:56 AM The Han Empire - Turn 1
The hardworking citizen-soldiers of the Han built the city of Chang An, Eternal Peace :mischief:, as our capital.
Sent to Matrix.
WildFire Sep 04, 2003, 02:48 PM Oh c'mon, no screenie? You can't TRUST your fellow moderators?
:p
I will follow this one with upmost attention. How did you get CT to play emperor anyway?
And how come cracker isn't playing, you would think he would love to beat you all ;)
Matrix Sep 04, 2003, 03:22 PM I pressed Print Scrn, but I forgot to paste it in Paint Shop Pro after I sent the game forth. But my starting position is quite good, I think. Got two fur close and one wheat next to my capital. ;)

It's TF's turn I think.
anarres Sep 05, 2003, 07:06 AM Nice! Lets hope for a quicker turn rate than last time. :D
Donovan Zoi Sep 05, 2003, 05:45 PM Just so everyone knows, I will be gone all day Saturday and Sunday. I haven't yet received the save from Thunderfall, but will check for it before I leave on Saturday.
Knight-Dragon Sep 05, 2003, 06:44 PM No worries, we can play it slowly. Most weekends, I'll be gone too. ;)
Knight-Dragon Sep 08, 2003, 09:41 AM Who has the game? :hammer:
Thunderfall Sep 08, 2003, 08:44 PM I have it. I'll be sure to play it tonight and send the game to the next person.
This will be the first time I play a Civ3 PBEM. :)
Edit: File sent to Donovan at donovan_zoi@civfanatics.net. Man, this is a really slow way to play Civ. :)
Donovan Zoi Sep 08, 2003, 10:52 PM I agree, Thunderfall. Hopefully once the game gets going, we will able to get a quicker turnover. Still, these first 20-30 turns will be excruciating. ;)
BTW, save sent to Chieftess at chieftess@civfanatics.net.
Matrix Sep 09, 2003, 04:18 AM We should try to play one turn a day. That's very doable.
(You might just click on the first link in my sig... ;))
Knight-Dragon Sep 09, 2003, 06:41 AM Sent to Matrix... :)
Matrix Sep 09, 2003, 12:00 PM To Col. I wasn't home till 18:00. :undecide:
col Sep 09, 2003, 02:21 PM I'm happy with my start position too....
sent to TF
Matrix Sep 09, 2003, 02:51 PM Aw, such a quiet and peaceful valley. ;)
(for the time being)
col Sep 09, 2003, 03:13 PM Matrix - you know you're a nice builder, like me. Why go around trying to imply youre a big bad warmonger?
It is a pretty valley aint it? Seems a shame to spoil it with nasty mines and irrigation....
Curious to know if we're on tiny or huge map. It kinda makes a difference to my build order........ it will make exploring fun. I wish I'd picked an expansionist now.....

I was just fooling around. But indeed, something tells me it'll take a long time before I will be the aggressor in the game. That also has something to do with the fact that I'll never be in a position (i.e. too weak) to attack. I'm not that good.
(Or am I stigmating myself now?)
Thunderfall Sep 10, 2003, 06:34 PM Save sent to Donovan....
Next turn I will post a screenshot of my starting position... :)
Donovan Zoi Sep 10, 2003, 11:10 PM Ok, save sent to Chieftess.
Anyway, here's my screenshot. After looking at col's start, this seriously makes me wonder why the game is rigged in my favor. Maybe I am stuck on an island and this is all I have. ;)
In the interest of fair disclosure........
Knight-Dragon Sep 11, 2003, 07:32 AM I'm a very peaceful builder-type - I'm not giving away my map so that people won't attack me... :mischief:
MarineCorps Sep 11, 2003, 07:42 AM Are all of you the builder type?
col Sep 11, 2003, 12:17 PM $$$$ ***** @@@@ 3 cows, wheat and 2 bonus grassland.
I just hope you're a long long way away from me, Donovan - or that your nearest iron and horsies are on the next continent.
WildFire Sep 11, 2003, 02:52 PM @Col- 4 cows, his worker is roading one ;)
Builders? Watch out for col in the early game :p
col Sep 11, 2003, 04:22 PM You launch one little sneak attack and you get a reputation
4 cows+wheat means he can just roll over all of us unless he is stopped. I wish I had an archer right next to Don rght now.
Donovan Zoi Sep 11, 2003, 05:34 PM Which is it, col?
Do you want to be far away from me or next to me?
Also, keep in mind that XIII seems wary about offering up his start. I don't want to be the only one with a bullseye painted on my back. :D
@MarineCorps - I am usually a builder, but am adaptable. Especially when everyone is eyeing my beloved city.
Knight-Dragon Sep 11, 2003, 06:03 PM I don't have anything good to show... :p
I haven't received anything fr CT, so I won't be playing my round till Sunday - weekend you understand. ;)
col Sep 12, 2003, 02:20 AM I want to be far away,Dom I'd like an archer next to you but I think that by the time I can build an archer your cows will have built a small army.......
Why is everyone so coy? Its normal to publish your start position - without giving away your location of course ;)
Knight-Dragon Sep 12, 2003, 05:53 AM It is normal... for an allied game that is. I'm not as good as you, col. :p
Oops, forgotten to add the AI civs - so only 6 of us to battle it out. I don't think anyone will want to restart?

I dont really think of myself as a good player since I habituate pbems with deity killing players such as Anarres and Erikk who are rather better than me .
There are advantages in not having AIs around having just got crunched in a pbem by 4 Emperor level AIs + my opponent who had bought alliances against me (he paid more than I did)
I dont think posting your start position gives the other players much info but it does make it a bit more fun through the early tedious moves.

Exactly the way I like it. :D
(Remember our reputation discussion? ;))
I just sent you the save, by the way.

Your reputation as well as mine. Look at the heihojin threads :p
Thunderfall Sep 14, 2003, 07:04 PM Turn 3 save sent to DZ.
Here is my starting location... pretty nice, isn't it? :)

Eh. ;)
----
Save sent to Chieftess. Has she even posted here yet? I think she is the only one that hasn't taken the opportunity to downplay her Civ skills in this thread. I am not buying a word of it, from any of you. ;)
Oh BTW, I am pretty lousy at this game too. :mischief: And col, I am just eternally grateful that the Beef Brigade has my back.
Matrix Sep 21, 2003, 07:13 AM Where is the save? I haven't seen it in quite a while.
Knight-Dragon Sep 21, 2003, 08:41 AM @Matrix - Did you receive turn 4 from me? That's the last one I had, AFAIK. ;)
Matrix Sep 21, 2003, 10:09 AM No. Last one I received was turn 3 at 12-09-2003 12:56. Sent at 19:28.
Knight-Dragon Sep 21, 2003, 10:11 AM I'll resend. ;)
This is all very strange...
Matrix Sep 21, 2003, 11:01 AM Sorry, I have skipped a line in Outlook Express: I did receive turn 4 at 15-09-2003 13:42. But I played that turn at the university and even though I believe I remembered and used the correct e-mail address of Col, something still might have gone wrong, so I replayed and resent too.
Knight-Dragon Sep 22, 2003, 06:36 AM I'll like to say many things to you, but I'll choose not to say them aloud. :mischief:
Let's get the game going again. ;)
col Sep 22, 2003, 04:58 PM Just got the new save - but my computer is knackered. Nothing that a new hard drive and complete reformat, new motherboard, processor and memory wont fix though......
I'll try and get running in a few days. In the meanwhile I can just about scrape internet access together, so I've got nothing to do but mod at the moment ....
WildFire Sep 22, 2003, 05:06 PM How come people's computers always crap (polite word) up when they play pbem's?

I know. Sorry. :o
WildFire, I have no idea. PTW is dangerous for harddisks. http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/Satan.gif
Matrix Sep 27, 2003, 04:46 PM Where is the savegame?
Knight-Dragon Sep 28, 2003, 09:05 AM With col I assume, no? ;)
Matrix Sep 28, 2003, 12:00 PM Still? Ok. :undecide:
col Sep 30, 2003, 05:35 AM I should be able to move it on tonight....
col Sep 30, 2003, 07:16 AM Sent to TF
Aggie Sep 30, 2003, 08:41 AM This surely has all aspects of a multi-human pbem :D You should be able to finish before Christmas...2004 :mischief:
MarineCorps Sep 30, 2003, 09:36 AM 2004? With the way things are going I'd say more like 2005.:D
Thunderfall Sep 30, 2003, 08:16 PM Save sent to Donovan.
2004? With the way things are going I'd say more like 2005.
It's been 3 weeks and we are only in turn 4. :p Civ4 probably will be out by the time we finish this game. :D
Skyfish Oct 01, 2003, 04:25 AM I have only seen real beautiful start positions (some absolutely amazing ) so there *must* be someone stuck in a jungle or something ;)

A few minutes every week or so won't hurt. ;)
Donovan Zoi Oct 02, 2003, 05:53 PM OK, the game's back on. :D
I will play the save tonite.
Matrix Oct 06, 2003, 05:02 PM It's great that the game is on again, but then why haven't I received it yet? C'mon, as staff members we're all online very often and surely we should be able to play one turn a day... :(
Knight-Dragon Oct 06, 2003, 08:18 PM I haven't seen it - so I assume it's with CT?
Donovan Zoi Oct 06, 2003, 10:56 PM I sent it to CT, but admittedly not until Sunday. :(
RL(work and personal) has been a bit demanding lately.
Hopefully, you will see it shortly, XIII. I will do my best not to be the "loose wheel" in the proceedings from here on out. ;)
Knight-Dragon Oct 07, 2003, 12:00 AM Don't worry, I'm not that excited about the game. :p Busy with FFTA right now... :D I even bought a GBA SP just to play it. :yeah:
FFTA = Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Matrix Oct 07, 2003, 03:25 PM http://www.straland.com/images/smilies/what.gif Whatever. As long as you play the game when you receive it.

Ok, but that was three days ago. I still don't have it.
col Oct 10, 2003, 08:15 AM Be optimistic - maybe this staff pbem will get further than the last one. Wait a minute, it already has .....
Matrix Oct 10, 2003, 09:02 AM Yahoo.
Knight-Dragon Oct 12, 2003, 08:04 PM I still don't have it - don't look at me... ;)
col Oct 14, 2003, 12:19 PM Or me. The last save i saw was turn 4 sent to TF on 30 Sept....
Knight-Dragon Oct 14, 2003, 08:07 PM I think it's with CT... pokes CT... :)
Knight-Dragon Nov 04, 2003, 07:40 AM Alright, who has the game!? :hmm:
Donovan Zoi Nov 04, 2003, 05:22 PM If you haven't seen it, then it's still in the same place, XIII. ;)
I will send the save to Chieftess again, as a reminder......
