View Full Version : Civ colors flicker (to blue?)

When at the normal map view, I sometimes see my units flicker from their civ-specific color to some other color (blue I believe, but I cannot tell for sure - this happens for very brief periods of time). This seems to happen particularly often when closing the city screen, and also when closing various advisors.

I am running Windows XP service pack 1 on 2.6 GHz processor with hyperthreading. I meet the DirectX requirement and run relatively recent OpenGL libraries (though I don't think that the problem is in any of that).

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

An unrelated problem is the absence of civ-specific color on the Domestic Advisor screen on the turn a game has been loaded (the units there are usually red).

something to this effect has happened to me before, except it was regarding cultural borders and in an earlier version of ptw.. actually, i think it was in 1.29 of original civ 3. i thought perhaps it might have to do with either too many civs (nah) or too many civs with the same culutral border colors.. i dunno really.. i have also had this happen in the same version with units, if i recall correctly. no clue, honestly.

What video card are you using?

I had a "blue flash" recently, but thought nothing of it til I saw your thread.

I often have a problem with units turning blue or red instead of their civ-specific colors. I think they turn red or blue depending on whether they are offensive or defensive units, and the color shift lasts a _long_ time. Restarting or rebooting didn't necessarily fix it, but it would eventually go away. When I set up to play the GOTM, I got these nice colored circles around units, and these colored circles don't change color to red or blue, so I no longer care about the problem.

I'm running ME and PTW 1.27, and I have no clue what my video card is (and that computer isn't here, so I can't check).
