I'd like to play an old fashioned regular game of Civ, but with the new icons and such I have no iron, and instead have oysters in my mountains!
Is there a thread or a page that explains how to temporarily uninstall the GOTM updates, or do you just reinstall Civ?
I'm sure there's a simple way to do it, but I am unaware.
Thanks for the feedback in advance.

I am guessing that you have regular CivIII. Also would have helped if you had said what GOTM you played.
When you installed GOTM there were some instructions about what to do with the original resource files, and how to restore them.
Here is a quote from the readme file.
"First look in your Civilization III/Art folder and locate your original files named "resources.pcx" and "resources_shadows.pcx". You want to cut an past or drag and drop these files into the folder that has been provided in your "resources storage" folder and named "my original resources folder". This folder wil lallow you to reclaim a copy of your original resource craphics and easily place them back into the correct position so that any other Civ3 game will run without any conflicts."

More details.
I am using the vanilla civ. I have already completed the current GOTM, so I've been using the new utility autoinstaller which I have used exclusively.
I found the folder you mentioned
C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\resources storage\gotm21_before
It has 2 files. I'll try replacing the current files with these and see if it does the trick.
Thanks again,

This is one of many reasons to get PTW, as you don't have to do any of the file swapping with PTW.

Heaven forbid if any one would use this as a lame excuse to purchase the PTW product when all else would tell us that this is not a wise choice.
For any GOTM game on the Civ3v1.29 version of the software you will find a text file titled "Readme - Swapping Resources.txt" and this will give you some easy instructions to swap the resources back and forth whenever you choose.
For the three major text files (civilopedia, diplomacy, and pediaicons) you can find backups of the original versions stored on your hrad drive in folders titled "/gotmXX_before" for each game that you play.

Thanks all.
The file referred to by Cracker is located at
C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Text\gotm24_before
If anyone else needs to find it easily.
In any event, switching between the GOTM and original version took only 30 seconds, so I probably won't use that reason to buy PTW.
