View Full Version : How to use modpacks
Sarevok Oct 25, 2003, 03:17 PM I have a question
How do i use modpacks for design for my maps? If you wont write it here then could you at least give me a website or something that would allow me to find out how to use mods for my scenarios?
embryodead Oct 25, 2003, 03:46 PM 1. load the mod .bix in the editor.
2. make a map
3. save as a new file "whatever.bix"
Yoda Power Oct 25, 2003, 04:19 PM embryo he asked how to use them, not how to make them.
Sarevok just if you download a mod then do this, ex: You get one bix and a folder. The folder is called "Sci-fi modpack" and the bix is called Sfi-Fi. Just put these two in the scenarios folder, you dont need to open them or anything. In the bix there is a text that links the bix to the folder and sub-folders, its under scenario properties.
warpstorm Oct 25, 2003, 05:04 PM To emphasize what yoda is saying, they won't work correctly unless the bix and the folder that goes with it (if any) are in the scenarios folder.
Sarevok Oct 25, 2003, 07:31 PM but dont i have to do something else? i have tried that, but it doesent work!
mrtn Oct 25, 2003, 07:36 PM Have you got the correct patch?
Do you get any specific Error Messages?
Vanilla or PTW?
Details are important.
Sarevok Oct 25, 2003, 08:49 PM im talking about putting them in the scenarios. i put the folder root cotrrect, i get everything in the right folders, but the graphic wont show up. yes i got the current patch.
Sarevok Oct 25, 2003, 08:50 PM i got PTW btw
embryodead Oct 25, 2003, 09:35 PM check if the path is CIV3PTW/Scenarios/ModName/Art...
NOT CIV3PTW/Scenarios/ModName/ModName/Art...
this happens often when unzipping
What mods exactly? Some use links to external stuff like terrain packs that come with PTW (have you not moved them?)
One more question: the graphics won't show up in the editor only or in game too?
Sarevok Oct 25, 2003, 11:38 PM im talking about units, not terrain.
warpstorm Oct 25, 2003, 11:57 PM If you are trying to add units to the game that is a different story (unless a scenraio maker has done it for you already). This is complex. Rather than duplicating a major thread, I'll point you to it.
