Ive wonted to ask this for a while now but why isnt their a version of civ3 that is multi-player that is off-line. When some of my friends are over we would like to play off line without all the connection issues and that way you should still see everything and play quickly.
I though their was a version of an earlier civ where you could pick either human-comp-none-for each civ choice off-line.
That way you could take turns or take over a comp. civ at any point and not tie up your internet connection.

If you mean multiplayer on one computer you can play hotseat. Just start a game as a pbem and at the end of your turn click 'continue' instead of 'save and exit'. If you mean play multiplayer over a LAN then I don't know... but I would have thought it's doable.

There's also PBEM, and LAN play (click on Location to get to "Local").

Yes but all these still involve a internet connection. How about multi-player without a internet connection

A Hotseat game does not require an Internet Connection. And you only need one computer.
