View Full Version : CCF2 -- 300x300 map, Monarch
CaptainCivFreak Nov 02, 2003, 04:49 PM Ok... this is my second SG, it has a 300x300, non-edited map.
I'll take six-eight players in this one.
1. CaptainCivFreak
2. gunnerxtr
3. Infoman
4. Wizard
5. ??????
6. ??????
If you want to be the 7th or 8th player, you must be at or below the Regent level (this will be training). Because I don't want more than 6 higher players in this one. Monarchs & above are welcome, but if you're already in another SG, we don't really need you.
Note: I did not actually mean this to be a training game, I just don't want people @ the Emperor & Deity level coming and taking over from the people who haven't gotten that high yet...
Parameters:
All world conditions are random except Barbarians (sedentary) and world size... 300x300.
Our civ: Portugal (seafaring, expansionist)
Enemy civs: 13 others; random
Other: All conditions except cultural victory, no respawn AI, ACCEL. PRODUCTION, Cultural conversions on. No elim, (mass) regicide, vp locations, or capture the princess.
Difficulty: Monarch
Edit: I deleted the turn record and the Save file because this SG is going to wait until C3C. All parameters will remain the same.
ChrTh Nov 02, 2003, 04:52 PM @CCF:
If it's meant to be TDG, or even a normal Training Game, you might want to mention that in the subject.
CaptainCivFreak Nov 02, 2003, 05:15 PM Thx
gunnerxtr Nov 04, 2003, 04:55 PM hey i will join if u wanna wait till conquests
CaptainCivFreak Nov 04, 2003, 05:05 PM Ok... I'll change it to Conquests.
gunnerxtr Nov 04, 2003, 06:40 PM cool, so do you want to play a normal game or a conquest?
CaptainCivFreak Nov 05, 2003, 07:46 AM Ok... I haven't done as much reading about Conquests as I should have... or do you just mean win by conquest (victory type)?
Matt_G Nov 05, 2003, 08:35 AM Go here (http://www.kalikokottage.com/civ3/sullla/CQ.html) to read about Conquests. :)
gunnerxtr Nov 05, 2003, 10:40 AM i meant doing one of the nine? conquests
CaptainCivFreak Nov 05, 2003, 05:28 PM Nine what?
gunnerxtr Nov 05, 2003, 07:38 PM they are scenarios, C3C comes with 9 new scenarios (conquests)
CaptainCivFreak Nov 05, 2003, 09:21 PM Ok... I'll take a look (I might not get conquests for several weeks though.)
CaptainCivFreak Nov 07, 2003, 04:45 PM We'll do #8, Napoleonic Europe, I'll mod it so that we can have a 300x300 map with decent starting position (I'll just basically load the map of the original set of turns into that scenario and save it as a new mod... :D)
gunnerxtr Nov 07, 2003, 05:16 PM ok, so are u from europe?
CaptainCivFreak Nov 07, 2003, 05:24 PM No... I live in nice... burning hot Phoenix, Arizona, US!
CaptainCivFreak Nov 09, 2003, 04:00 PM I'll probably get C3C on Tuesday.
CaptainCivFreak Nov 12, 2003, 07:18 PM I've gotten C3C, but I've changed my mind about the Conquest, I'm just gonna use the C3C editor to roll out a start and play the first couple of turns.
CaptainCivFreak Nov 13, 2003, 06:56 AM Here are the updated parameters:
All world conditions are random except Barbarians (sedentary) and world size... 300x300.
Our civ: Portugal (seafaring, expansionist)
Enemy civs: 13 others; random
Other: All conditions except cultural victory, no respawn AI, ACCEL. PRODUCTION, Cultural conversions on. No elim, (mass) regicide, vp locations, or capture the princess.
Difficulty: Monarch
Anything I've forgotten???
infoman Nov 13, 2003, 07:12 AM It seems the other SG I am in has died. I usually play on Regent but would love to move in levels. I do have C3C so that is not a problem. I am currently playing my first C3C solo game on regent.
CaptainCivFreak Nov 13, 2003, 05:30 PM Welcome aboard! Unless gunnerxtr has C3C yet, you'll be after me, once I post the 1st set of turns ;)
gunnerxtr Nov 14, 2003, 04:18 PM yes i do have my copy of c3c, i also normally play on regent, one question, we will be playing with accel production on or off?
CaptainCivFreak Nov 14, 2003, 04:36 PM I should probably mention that more often... yes, Accel. Production is on.
Edit: I'll play the turns tonight (just as soon as I finish my homework ;))
ZapatoGrande Nov 17, 2003, 10:41 PM EDIT: Please cancel my request to join, I need to to a couple of training games first. Good luck, I will lurk on this game.

Teknoice Nov 19, 2003, 03:29 PM .
Ankka Nov 20, 2003, 08:29 AM Ok, got it. :)
Are we heading for some special victory, or are we just playing?
Ankka Nov 20, 2003, 08:30 AM Umm... Infoman, the link is invalid. Could you post it again, please?
infoman Nov 20, 2003, 10:10 AM at previous post. If it does not work let me know.
CaptainCivFreak Nov 20, 2003, 05:06 PM Still doesn't work. Here you go ||>>Save that I fixed for Infoman<<|| (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/CCF2-2550_BC.SAV)
FYI, the upload system does not like spaces in the file names, so it puts an underscore (_) in instead of a space, the web browser reads a space as %20
CaptainCivFreak Nov 20, 2003, 08:11 PM No special victory, but I turned off cultural victories.
Ankka Nov 20, 2003, 11:43 PM Ok, got it. I'll play after school today. :)

I know, that's kinda corny... :crazyeye: ;) :D
gunnerxtr Nov 21, 2003, 07:59 PM well i think our empire is growing nicely, so here is a screenshot (hopefully):)
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/ourempire1.JPG
notice the iron on the bottom of the screen, we should prioritize connecting that to our trade network
Ankka Nov 22, 2003, 01:15 AM Yes, the only problem is AFAWK, the nearest rivers are way too far in the East near Lagos...:(
But we'll manage. :)
CaptainCivFreak Nov 22, 2003, 05:22 PM I've been having computer problems, but I'll be able to play tonight... I'll have the turns done and posted by tomorrow morning.
Ankka Nov 23, 2003, 02:02 AM No problem. :)
I think we should try to get the statue of Zeus, because then we would get all those ancient cavalry units free. :)
gunnerxtr Nov 23, 2003, 10:04 AM is there a source of ivory close by?
Ankka Nov 23, 2003, 10:13 AM Good point... IIRC, no...:(
gunnerxtr Nov 23, 2003, 01:17 PM well that rules the statue of zues out for now i guess

this is our water situation
and here is the save:Save (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/CCF2_2150_BC1.SAV)
gunnerxtr Nov 23, 2003, 08:33 PM BTW the save's date is wrong, but I checked and it is the right save (if that makes sense)
CaptainCivFreak Nov 23, 2003, 09:43 PM I get it exactly, you mean that the name of the save is the wrong date, but it is the correct file, right?
Umm... I forgot to mention that I wanted the settlers to found cities exactly where they were going, so thanks for not screwing it up. j/k
For your first set of turns ever that's really good :goodjob:. I'm assuming that ToA is Temple of Artemis. FYI, you don't need to tell us exactly what units you moved.
We'll have an easy time going though the map, barbarians are sedentary and we're expansionist so we can't pop them from huts. But what's really weird is that Portugal is a Seafaring civ and we should actually start by the coast. It shouldn't have anything to do with the fact that I rolled this map out of the editor to make it 300x300.
I'm guessing that this game will last a lot longer than most others, since the map is so big. Lucky for us I didn't turn on just conquest or domination. Domination would be impossible on a map this size.
We need to spread our scouts out instead of just sending them one direction as I saw Infoman and Wizard did (no offense). If we're to use our traits to their full potential, we need to get some costal cities.
I've just taken a glance at the map in the editor (I didn't look for resources or anything), but we're pretty far from the ocean. I won't say which direction or how far unless asked.
Umm... I won't use that to our advantage as I'd really like to win this without doing that (I kinda consider it cheating).
From my records, Infoman should be up. Then Wizard.
Good luck to the next player. I probably won't be able to play Monday, definitely not Thursday (gotta help with Thanksgiving Dinner ;))
gunnerxtr Nov 23, 2003, 09:51 PM yea thats what i meant, the date's wrong but file's right becasue i overwrote the save
Ankka Nov 24, 2003, 07:35 AM Ok... So I'm up after Infoman?
Looks good, BTW, except for the water...:D
infoman Nov 24, 2003, 07:51 AM Please skip me this turn. I am in the process of moving and I am going out of town for Thanksgiving. So I will not be able to play until next Saturday at the earliest. Sorry for the incomvienence.
Ankka Nov 24, 2003, 07:56 AM So, It's me next, then...
I'll play tomorrow, I'm in a lazy mood today...:p
gunnerxtr Nov 24, 2003, 03:58 PM alright, game's going good i think guys. lets keep this rolling
CaptainCivFreak Nov 24, 2003, 04:42 PM That's alright, Infoman. Everyone here is welcome to have a real life.
Ankka Nov 25, 2003, 07:49 AM Yeah, sure. :)
Hmm... I'm not totally sure if I'll manage to play it today...:(
If I haven't posted it at 8 pm GMT, please skip me.
infoman Nov 25, 2003, 08:07 AM Captain CF. Those first 10 turns went quick and I can't wait to get back in the rotation. It is odd that we are not close to the coast. I thought that seafaring civs were suppose to start near or on the coast. This will add to the difficulty some.
Ankka Nov 25, 2003, 08:15 AM IIRC it affects so that there is a bigger chance to start near the coast, it doesn't mean you would always start near the shore.
Ankka Nov 25, 2003, 12:33 PM Turnlog:
Preturn: Everything seems nice, although our score isn't the best possible due to our no water- starting place...
IBT: Evora spear, library. Aargh! Seems like I can't continue in this SG, my computer is just too slow, it takes ages to wait the IBT period on this size maps...
Sorry. I'll have to quit. :( But I'll promise to lurk here, I'll just not play...
The save:  (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/CCF2_1500BC.SAV)
I hope that is the right save...
gunnerxtr Nov 25, 2003, 03:58 PM i was thinking this would be an issue and i for one am not looking forward to the 1hr turns in the future, this is only a suggestion, maybe we should start a game on a huge size map or maybe even smaller.
CaptainCivFreak Nov 25, 2003, 04:10 PM @gunnerxtr
I suppose that would be alright. I'll roll a new map in the editor and mod it so that we have all the same cities, units, and etc... is all the same, just with a smaller map. I'll try to make the cities the same distance apart, and I'll put the starting locations (to scale) where they were on the original map (if possible, I won't start the Egyptians or someone out in the middle of the ocean... lol)
I just never thought we'd get all the way to the modern era, I usually win in the mid-industrial ages... but on a map this size that'd be a problem.
@wizard
As you see above we'll reroll the map and you can join back up if you want. But until you post again, I'll take you off the turn roster.
@everyone:
I'm wanting to play on a larger map than huge. How about 200x200 (huge being 160x160)?
Edit: We are going to restart the game from here.
Last thing: I am going to restart this game as CCF3 -- C3C Monarch. Here's the link: >:D< (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69913)
gunnerxtr Nov 25, 2003, 05:04 PM to save time and effort, why not just start from scratch all over again, but decision is yours.
CaptainCivFreak Nov 25, 2003, 08:32 PM As I posted in the new thread. That is what I'm going to do. From now on we all should not post in this thread, but rather the thread for CCF3: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69913
Ankka Nov 26, 2003, 06:35 AM I like it, as I posted in the new thread...:)
