I just bought a new computer, and when I went to install Civ3 from my original CD, it comes up with an error that DSETUP.DLL failed to load.

So I tried to install PTW, which I know won't actually work without CIV3 installed, but it allowed me to install it.

Any clues?

My new system is a Sony Vaio S420 running Windows XP Home edition. I've installed all the updates to WINXP, which included Directx 9.

Found the problem! I just had to clean the CD with a lint-free cloth. There was a message 16 pages back in the forum that gave me the solution. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34631

<sigh> I DO wish we could search the forums - I wouldn't have needed to post this problem since the answer was already in the forum.
