FionnMcCumhall Nov 18, 2003, 08:29 PM This sounds like a challenge for the ages.

eric_A Nov 20, 2003, 03:38 PM Is this a scenario with a real map of Europe?
Do I need to download a Mod?
I would play Russia.
FionnMcCumhall Nov 20, 2003, 11:44 PM This is a Conquests Scenario

Great: I just picked up conquests recently.
You might get more response if you post this again in
the PBEM forum, but I can probably find more players if
I ask around in my other two PBEM games.
portuga Nov 21, 2003, 04:10 PM I'll play the otomans :-)
Norlamand Nov 21, 2003, 08:50 PM I'll play if there is room. Is France open?
eric_A Nov 24, 2003, 11:33 AM I gave this Conquest a test run on the weekend, as the Russians.
Got my butt kicked the first go. The second time I chose my allies
very, very carefully and managed to do OK up till 1806, which
is as far as I got.
I also tried a mutiplayer hotseat game for a couple of turns
just to see how if it worked without bugs. It seems the first player
must play Prussia for some reason, but other than that it went
OK.
I like this Conquest, it reminds me of the old Avalon Hill board
game called "War & Peace". This would make for a great PBEM
game in my opinion. You would need human players for at least:
Britian
France
Prussian
Austria
&Russia
Optionally you could also play:
Ottomans
Swedes
& Spain
or just leave them for the AI
Beam Nov 24, 2003, 03:23 PM This indeed is the toughest scenario. In single player France is doable, but has a LOT of borders with unfriendly neighbours which is a major disadvantage in MP. Same applies for Austria and Prussia, the latter being confined.
Looking at the minimap I would say Britian has a fair change if it can establish a stronghold on the continent, and only France really is in a position to try a naval invasion. The Russians have a large territory and relatively defendable borders. If they can withstand early Prussian / Austrian pressure and do some smart diplo they should be able to dominate in the longer run.
Hey, it is just 2 cents I am throwing in!
eric_A Nov 24, 2003, 04:31 PM The Russians have MAJOR corruption problems in the south, and
need to build the FP in Kiev to fix them. But it takes about 7
years to do it, even with chopping down every forest within 4
squares.
WildFire Nov 24, 2003, 10:35 PM I will be France, my nationality and all.
EDIT:
Ill be very selective picking the players.
You ok'ed me right?

As you can see from the above quote,
France has already been called. We need players
for Prussia and Austria.
If someone wants to take on the Russians I will
switch to Prussia to help get this started.
WildFire Nov 25, 2003, 05:07 PM Oh...
The list of players wasn't updated and I wasn't sure if he had ok'ed them...
I will be prussia then.

I don't think he's OK'd anyone yet, haven't heard from Fionn in a while on this thread. I will run the game if he won't.

FionnMcCumhall Nov 26, 2003, 10:41 AM Ive had classes lol. List is updated now only need one more player

Norlamand Dec 02, 2003, 09:21 PM I can't access the email list and can't forward the game to you Fionn. If you can email me the email list I'll send you the turn. My email is dasuboat@hotmail.com
FionnMcCumhall Dec 02, 2003, 10:43 PM fixed the list, it should download for you all
eric_A Dec 03, 2003, 11:32 AM Just want to warn everyone, there was a bug in
PTW with giving gifts. Not sure if this has been
fixed in Conquests, but better to be safe than
sorry as it will cause the game to lock-up.
When doing diplomacy, never give anything away for
free; always get something in return even if it is just
1 gold or a map you don't need.
LouLong Dec 04, 2003, 11:35 AM Sorry just realized I had actually received the file.
Played and sent back to Prussia. I will be faster next turn.
WildFire Dec 04, 2003, 01:41 PM I did not get the save.

I checked and it left OK, will resend it though.
eric_A Dec 05, 2003, 03:29 PM Fionn:
Do you plan to run the game right through the holidays or pause for awhile? I will be doing some traveling but I
have a friend who can play a few turns for me if needed.
LouLong Dec 07, 2003, 12:25 PM Wildfire, did you get it alright ?
Whose turn is it right now ?
FionnMcCumhall Dec 07, 2003, 01:45 PM depends on the others and how we get the turns. I dont plan to play on christmas or xmas eve as i got places to go, same with new years so if i have the save on any of those days i wont play them til after the holidays
WildFire Dec 07, 2003, 02:19 PM Still didn't get it.
Upload here and I'll download it?
eric_A Dec 16, 2003, 04:36 PM Czar Eric the 1st will be travelling in the east from

Received, played and sent game today.
The spanish envoy showed up at the kremlin yesterday
asking for a military alliance against the British. So Britian
and Spain are now at war, very interesting. I don't
suppose you had anything to do with this Norlamand?
Czar Eric
FionnMcCumhall Dec 31, 2003, 12:33 PM Heh you kidding. Im at war with the spanish, ottomans, swedes and france.
Norlamand Jan 04, 2004, 03:32 PM I can neither confirm, nor deny, any involvement in the international disputes in question. ;)
Norlamand Jan 08, 2004, 06:06 PM Oh my, I hear that the English have now gotten into it with the Austrians! Silly Brits!
Rumor has it that a band of British seadogs washed ashore south-west of Amsterdam in French territory. They were soundly thrashed by the local peasants and their landing craft burned.
News from the south is that Le Grand Armee is waging a very successful campaign to liberate our Italian brethren and the Holy city of Rome from the rum breathed English privateers that have invaded their sovereign nation. The Emperor sincerely hopes that the British Monarch will see the foolishness of the path he has chosen and surrender to the tender mercies of his Continental peers.
FionnMcCumhall Jan 08, 2004, 11:24 PM he is rubbing it in i see, hmmm, tis time to get my full war machine going then i guess
WildFire Jan 08, 2004, 11:38 PM And stop asking for military alliances/MPP's :p
Norlamand Jan 09, 2004, 06:12 PM Can't we all just get along?
LouLong Jan 15, 2004, 10:04 AM Who has it now ?
eric_A Jan 15, 2004, 07:48 PM I sent the game to Rich last Sunady, Jan 11.
Norlamand Jan 18, 2004, 07:37 PM I sent it to Fionn yesterday or the day before.
Norlamand Feb 15, 2004, 03:35 PM Has anyone seen the game?
FionnMcCumhall Feb 15, 2004, 04:43 PM i sent it to LouLong a while ago
eric_A Feb 17, 2004, 07:35 AM I got the game from Wildfire last night, played it and

Norlamand Feb 23, 2004, 03:24 PM I believe that I played it and sent it along to Fionn. Would you mind resending the turn again and I'll make sure that I did as I recall. Too damned many PBEM games going on.........

Norlamand Mar 03, 2004, 11:54 PM Have left home but am still stuck in Texas for the next few days.
LouLong Mar 17, 2004, 09:41 AM I thought this was as good a time as any to provide a status description of our game.
Western Europe is mostly the place and aim of war between two old ennemis : France and England. But France has grown lavishly in the decade following the 1789 revolution and annexed states (Western Germany,...) or allies (Denmark) make up a strong holding on the mainland.
England, well protected by the Channel, had dropped its isolationism, thinking it could easily operate on the continent too. But its encircling theory (Amsterdam, Italy and Portugal) may have caused weakness more than brought strength. Indeed Italy is on the way to become French, and the agreement with the Russians allowing for an English naval base in the Black sea means little as far as influence in the Med is concerned. The quest for allies has started but apart from Austria that sided with the French in the Med, few monarchs seem tempted to go looking for glory on the battlefield. The bloody exemples of France and Britain might scare a few actually.
Spain's King is a trouble-maker, at war with many countries such as the Ottomans (for religious reasons as usual) or Austria (whose leadership among the catholic monarchs it tries to challenge).
Prussia and Russia seem to be very much "waiting and seeing" ( ;) ), strengthening their grip on their holdings. Maybe waiting for France and England to weaken.
That is all for now.
WildFire Mar 17, 2004, 11:52 AM Have it, will send when I get home from work

I got the game this morning and will play and send tonight.
Norlamand Mar 19, 2004, 11:32 AM I have the game but am stuck in Germany for the moment without access to my laptop and the C3C CD.
LouLong Apr 02, 2004, 11:37 AM Is this game dead ?
FionnMcCumhall Apr 03, 2004, 12:21 AM no i hadnt sent the save yet, i didnt get to it til today
sending tonight
LouLong Apr 03, 2004, 02:58 AM Edit : already sent to Wildfire (v1.20).
A few surprises this turn.;)
LouLong Apr 12, 2004, 03:28 PM Eer.... Any news ?
Norlamand Apr 16, 2004, 09:44 AM Has anyone contacted Wildfire? He was booted from another PBEM game that I am involved in for not responding. How long will we wait?
Suprises Lou? Now you have my attention. Care to elaborate?

Well, it seems it is not blocked with you, nor with Eric-A, and obviously you did not get the turn I sent (:p ). So it is either Wildfire or Fionn (I sent him a message) or worst, both.
If Fionn reacts I propose we replace Wildfire. What do you think ?
Care to elaborate ? Well, maybe not but maybe I should :D . I will send you a PM.
LouLong Apr 16, 2004, 05:09 PM Fionn has replied so it must be Wildfire. I propose we get a replacement player, except if someone knwos his whereabouts. I have already posted an "advertisement" for the position !
Norlamand Apr 17, 2004, 12:56 PM No PM. The suspence is killing me.
If nobody applies for the game I have a friend that is new to CivIII but would like to play. He is inexperienced but reliable.
LouLong Apr 17, 2004, 01:25 PM I'd say go for him !
Eric_A has said he was kicked from another PBEM as well for not replying so.
Yep sorry I will send something....
Rubberjello Apr 18, 2004, 09:24 AM If you still need a stand-in for Prussia, I'd be available.
rubberjello at yahoo dot com
LouLong Apr 18, 2004, 09:41 AM OK, then your turn is next, I am sending it to you.
But I don't know who was next after Wildfire : Normaland or Eric_A ?
Rubberjello Apr 18, 2004, 11:35 AM Sent to Eric A.
Errr.... Is there any outstanding "agreements" Wildfire had going with anyone that I should be aware of?
(And please, not the usual smarta$$ comments about "giving all their cities to xxxx country!)
eric_A Apr 18, 2004, 10:03 PM I had no agreements with Wildfire.
BTW: The turn which was sent to me, the Sept. 1801
turn had already been played, I was expecting the
November turn.
Norlamand Apr 19, 2004, 02:03 PM I'll hold the current turn until I get clarification on whether we are starting at Sept or Nov 1801. I too was expecting the Nov turn, but would be quite happy to play the September turn again. :)
Rubberjello Apr 19, 2004, 02:14 PM Well, I certainly didn't screw up since I was only sent one turn! ;) If Loulong sends along the correct turn to me, we could speed things up a bit and avoid replaying.
Hmmmm...Prussia is the first player. I wonder if there was some sort of bug with the date not being advanced???
Norlamand Apr 19, 2004, 02:15 PM Oh! That would just be horrible!! Then we would have to play the turn over..........hmmmmmm.
LouLong Apr 19, 2004, 03:37 PM Originally posted by Norlamand

:D :D
OK I checked, seems I made a mistake.
Sorry for that to everyone. I kind of became excited to start again...
I will send it again to Rubberjello, hoping you won't mind (Rubberjello, Eric_A) replaying it again...
Rubberjello Apr 19, 2004, 05:43 PM Correct turn played played and sent.
Great...a couple of useless Universities were completed instead of me catching them and converting them to banks on the first turn I got.
The new ruler of the Prussians wishes to announce that he has decided to continue his predecessor's penchant for neutrality for at least the immediate future. :D
(Like I really have a choice with all these behemoth opponents all around me!)
Norlamand Apr 19, 2004, 05:50 PM Well I await the turn with some degee of anxiety. What with the winds of change bring?
FionnMcCumhall Apr 19, 2004, 09:25 PM Prussia wussing out as usual. I dont get how they ever become a power during napoleans time ;)
I hope everyones at the latest patch 1.22 because i am :)
eric_A Apr 19, 2004, 10:27 PM Sent to Norlamand.

It is 1.20. 1.22 does not accept ealier SAV so there is no way this game can be converted to 1.22. Try to install 1.20 on another directory.
RJ, sorry for that. But indeed the turns were pretty different, weren't they ?
LouLong Apr 21, 2004, 10:54 AM Is it moving ? (after my false restart :o ).
Norlamand Apr 21, 2004, 01:59 PM I have it and it is being mulled over............I seem to have misplaced a city or two.........I don't suppose anyone has seen them?
Rubberjello Apr 21, 2004, 03:19 PM Originally posted by Norlamand

This is an aberration. I've heard short people (Napoleon) usually are very good at not losing things. The scientific reasoning being that they are closer to the floor!
LouLong Apr 24, 2004, 03:05 AM So is it moving ?
Norlamand Apr 24, 2004, 03:21 PM I sent it to Fionn today. Despite the fact that I couldn't find those damned cities...........
Norlamand May 02, 2004, 03:29 AM Going on a week and no word. Is this game dead or just having a near death experience?
LouLong May 02, 2004, 03:39 AM Fionn told me he had to download/install 1.20 (he was on 1.22) and should send it to me shortly. Hope so...
BTW Normaland, you have the grognards' turn to play yourself....
LouLong May 02, 2004, 01:23 PM Turn played and sent to Rubberjello (Prussia).
Norlamand May 02, 2004, 01:27 PM got the Grognards turn, but haven't had a chance to play it yet today. Will play it and send it out later today.
dgfred May 02, 2004, 02:20 PM Could one of you guys post a screen shot or two with some
comments? That would make alot of people :D
I have followed some of you guys before and you are very
good players.
:thanx: and :goodjob:
eric_A May 03, 2004, 06:37 PM Turn sent to Norlamand.
Norlamand May 05, 2004, 01:49 PM sent to Fionn early this morning
LouLong May 11, 2004, 06:42 AM Sent to Rubberjello yesterday
LouLong May 22, 2004, 03:30 PM OK, as far as I am concerned, this PBEM is dead. Sorry Rubberjello for draging you into it. Really thought it could live again, tried quite hard...
FionnMcCumhall May 22, 2004, 07:43 PM it shouldnt be dead whos holding onto it. i sent it to you recently, at least it shouldve gone thru :)
LouLong May 23, 2004, 01:46 AM Well it sure did not....
FionnMcCumhall May 23, 2004, 03:40 PM Ill resend it then, i was under the assumption it went thru
LouLong May 23, 2004, 03:53 PM Ill resend it then, i was under the assumption it went thru
You know I think Normaland is out too. He kind of disappeared from my Napoleonic PBEM (grognards)...
FionnMcCumhall May 23, 2004, 03:55 PM its resent if he is out of the game i hope he either finds a replacement or we can start this over again
LouLong May 23, 2004, 04:23 PM resent ? You men angry ?
Then I guess it is against me. If it is about the city I razed, fair enough. It was a mistake and I should not have done it. If it is because change of alliance, well, that definitely is part of the game. If he thinks all the other people (except you of course) would just help him freely then give him their lands, then I think he prefers playing against AI. Less interesting IMHO but everybody has one's own preferences.
Finding a replacement ? Well, considering the few turns played, if he really dropped I would be more in favor of restarting, and with more humans (Spain, Ottomans).
FionnMcCumhall May 23, 2004, 04:25 PM no i resent the save
LouLong May 24, 2004, 05:00 AM Ok, it won't die because of me ! Played and sent to RJ ...
Rubberjello May 24, 2004, 09:18 AM Played and sent on to Eric A.
So who is going to play France?
LouLong Jun 10, 2004, 11:11 AM GPS to Rubberjello
Norlamand Jun 20, 2004, 05:31 AM Is this game dead or stalled?
eric_A Jun 23, 2004, 11:30 PM Is this game dead or stalled?
Last turn I got was on May 24th, which I played and sent to you.
Rubberjello Jun 24, 2004, 02:56 AM That's my last record of it also. I sent it to Eric A on the 24'th of May.
LouLong Jun 24, 2004, 03:08 AM Apparently RJ did not get it on the 10th, maybe because of a clock pb on my mail.
Just resent (forwarded) it !
eric_A Jun 24, 2004, 10:55 AM I got it from RJ this morning, will play it tonight after work.
eric_A Jun 25, 2004, 08:23 AM Played and Sent to Norlamand.
I suggest we post here each time we send our turns, It will
make it easier to track where the game is.
FionnMcCumhall Jul 02, 2004, 03:49 PM i think e should end this game, its going way to slowly even for my tastes, i jusnt now got the save. as much as id like to finish this im afraid we wont finish this game before the end of next year. Anybody else agree with me?
Rubberjello Jul 02, 2004, 05:37 PM Could just be a lot of people are on vacation. All my PBEM games have slowed down dramatically in the last 3 weeks.
eric_A Jul 04, 2004, 11:13 AM I think part of the problem is Norlamands intermittant
access to the net in Iraq.
