View Full Version : ATTENTION: Civ3 Creation News Initiative

In the past we used to post a list of new Civ3 files each week on the frontpage news. Now we are ready to resume the feature to give new/updated Civ3 files more exposure, but we'll do it a little differently this time.

Instead of having a helper looking through the files forums for new or updated files, we can create a sticky thread in the main Civ3 Creation forum something like "Civ3 Creation News Submission" where scenario creators, modpack makers, unit creators, cartographers, etc, can post news/press release about their file to the thread. Every week (or even twice a week depending on the number of submissions) I can check the thread and post frontpage news about the new/updated files announced in that thread. Before I make a news post, I would make a post in the thread such as "Post 10-25 will be featured in the next news release".

To submit a news to the thread, creators can fill out a simple form, for example:
----------------------
File Title:
File Type (Scen, Unit, Modpk, etc):
Version:
Forum Thread:
Author:
What's new in this version?:
----------------------

This system is very feasible since I would not need to browse thru hundreds of threads to see which ones got updated. It probably will take less than 30 minutes each week to prepare the news post.

Let me know what you think of this proposal. :)

PS: I can post the weekly news in the beginning but eventually I hope to find someone who's willing to do this weekly news posting...

Does this mean C&C might get it's own mod?

I would be willing to do the weekly posting.

Very good idea - gives the creators room in the news and helps users to keep track what´s cool amongst the latest stuff :)

Thunderfall,

In a question in the ACW-thread (Post1700) I asked
if asked if you thought it was possible to have auto-counting
of downloads
for scenarios that not come as attached files.

You answered that new software should be coming.

Again: Auto-counting would be of great value for scenario-
creators. Do you think its possible to have it after the new
software is working?

Yes, as I mentioned in Post 1700 the ACW-thread:
the site "rugged defene" (They cover The Operational
Art of Warfare games) with 988 members and 518
scenarios for download have this function for all scenarios
no matter the size of them it should not be an economic
question or am I wrong?

Best Regards
