:)
can't build settlers or whatever until size 3.
seems like a food special(is there any?) and a granary or Pyramids type wonder will be useful.
Build on food special(possible?)....build a granary...size 3 and at least 2 settler units maybe 3.I see a much smaller foodbox in screenshots that doesn't appear to get bigger as the city gets bigger.
Build a new city.Use 2nd settler for a little work then join new city after size 2(possible?).
repeat

I have no idea :D

if im not mistaking, they dont
they dont have home cities, so there is no city to take food from
they, like all other units take gold as support

That is correct---no more settlers eating food! I find that great!

but don't settlers also take 2 population points from the city it's built, and the workers take 1 pop. point? So in addtion to gold, they also take pop point... instead of a food i think. at least that's what i read somewhere at the info center:crazyeyes

that's right. it was to make ICS harder.

IIRC, the food box is limited. As I recall, it never gets beyond 80 to grow to the next city size (and thus 40 if you've got a granary).

ICS = Infinite City Spread / Sprawl

i guess ICS will not be a serious option because there will be soooooo much corruption that those far away cities won´t be able to function in any way...
and will be there for enemies to take...

As far as I can tell, no ICS. You can certainly crank out settlers if you have the terrain...a city on grasslands with a sprinkling of shields and +food squares can be mined for great production (Instead of irrigated, which is irritating now that you need fresh water...not many rivers on small islands) :( I had a fully mined out city at size 6 cranking out a settler, switching to something else, growing back to size 6, and cranking out another settler. Its not the same as ICS in the earlier Civs, but I don't know that it is good to grow extremely fast...corruption is a killer and Monarchy is quite aways off when you first start.
