View Full Version : 'Stealth' Attack Not Working On Aircraft
Tacit_Exit Nov 28, 2003, 03:21 PM Description of problem - Both Stealth Bombers and Stealth Fighters have the new 'Stealth' option enabled but when you launch a bombing run with either you don't get an option to choose targets, as you do with Submarines.
Steps to reproduce - Launch bomb run with Stealth aircraft vs stack of dissimilar units.
Observed result - Bombard occurs as if no 'Stealth' ability were active (ie no target selection).
Expected result - Should get a drop down menu of valid targets before the bombard is executed.
NB: I have seen this mentioned before, but I couldn't find any reference in this Forum. Can provide a save if anyone thinks it necessary.

Before C3C you had to research Smart Weapons to get that capability, I doubt if that was changed.

You're talking about 'precision strike', which is an entirely different ability.
'Stealth Attack' is a new ability added to Submarines and Stealth Bombers/Fighters.

You would assume that they were intended to be able to, given that the abilities are active for both stealth aircraft and F-15s in the Epic game, but it appears some code reworking is necessary to get them to actually work in game.
Bamspeedy Nov 30, 2003, 05:44 PM I think the problem is that they are 'bombarding', not attacking, so that is why stealth ATTACK doesn't work. Yes, I would say some code reworking is in order.
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 07:04 PM "Stealth" means that it is harder to shoot down, IIRC. It was an option in both the Vanilla Civ3, and PTW editor. It is used on "stealth" aircraft. Notice that the menu for "Stealth Attack Targets" is now activated by choosing this option. Check out an older editor version if you don't believe me. I had this question a while back too, back soon figured it out.
Tacit_Exit Nov 30, 2003, 08:10 PM Stealth (reduced chance for interception) is under Unit Abilities, where its always been.
Stealth Attack is enabled by checking a box under Special Actions (along with Load, Bombard etc.); new to C3C.
Gogf Dec 01, 2003, 04:22 AM Oh, that's what you meant.

You just said "Stealth." Sorry for not understanding.
Gogf Dec 01, 2003, 04:23 AM Wow, you're right, it does have stealth attack checked. Woops.
