View Full Version : New Unit: Gas Shell
Gogf Nov 29, 2003, 02:22 PM I did none of the art in this unit, I simply put Kinboat's Howitzer togeather with Smoking Mirror's Gas Explosion. They deserve all the credit.
Here's the essential Gas Shell for everyone making a WWI Scenario. I'm putting it in my WWI scenario (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=70232)!
Download The Zip (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/GasShell2.zip)
How to install the unit: Put the unit folder (UNZIPPED!) in the "YOUR_SCENARIO_NAME_HERE/Art/Units" folder, and then put it into the editor in the following way (DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING WITH A * BEFORE IT, AS IT WILL MAKE THIS NOT WORK CORRECTLY):
A.D.M: 0.0.1
B.R.Rof: 20.2.7
Cost: Not sure
Creates Craters
Colateral Damage
*Cruise missile
*Ranged attack animation
Requires Escort
AI Strategy: Tactical Nuke
GeneralMeng Nov 29, 2003, 03:50 PM What is Colateral Damage?
Gogf Nov 29, 2003, 03:54 PM In Conquests that is kills civilians, destroys building, destroys terrain improvements (I think). Civilians would be killed, and roads and building ruined.
Gogf Nov 29, 2003, 03:58 PM From the editor help file:
"Create Craters and Collateral Damage (Unit Statistics)
Create Craters - This unit attribute checkbox is not selectable for units with a Bombard strength of 0. Units with this attribute can create craters during bombard attacks.
Collateral Damage - If a unit with the "Collateral Damage" capability attacks an enemy unit and the enemy takes damage, then:
If the defending unit is not in a city, the artillery/bombard value of the attacking unit is used to conduct a bombard attack on that space to determine if any terrain improvements are also destroyed.
If the defending unit is in a city, the[sic, should be then] the artillery/bombard value of the attacking unit is used to conduct a bombard attack on that city to see if any buildings or citizens of that city are destroyed."
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 05:59 AM So, how do you like it everyone?
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 06:09 AM Okay, I'm going to ask you guys a question:
How do I post an attachment, so that it has that little WinZip logo on the left of it, and it says how many times it was downloaded? I want to see how many times it was downloaded, and need to do this. However, I can't seem to find out how...
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 06:10 AM Uhh... Never mind. I just never use the "Post Reply" option, I always use the "Quick Reply." Oh well.
The Last Conformist Nov 30, 2003, 06:16 AM Previews?
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 06:20 AM Sorry. How do I make it a .gif? It's an flc.
Edit: If this helps, I have photoshop.
zulu9812 Nov 30, 2003, 06:43 AM Tool for converting FLC to animated GIF (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31847)
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 06:48 AM Thanks.
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 06:55 AM Okay, got the gifs. Be aware, they are rather slow.
The gas you see in enemy territory (the gas has misteriously become darker colored in the gif...):
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 07:00 AM FIRE!:
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 07:09 AM THE 20000th post in this forum!!!:
----------------------------------------------------------------
So, who likes it? Somebody: tell me if it works, in game.
The Last Conformist Nov 30, 2003, 07:40 AM It looks good, if nothing else. Can't check it in-game, ATM, sorry.
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 08:08 AM The Gas looks a lot brighter in the flc, it's more of a light green there, btw.
Louis XXIV Nov 30, 2003, 08:12 AM Its probably the conversion to gif that lowers the quality.
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 08:13 AM I'm sure it is.
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 08:14 AM BTW, I've changed the AI strategy to Tactical Nuke, as it is sort of an early version. Too powerful to be a Cruise Missile.
zulu9812 Nov 30, 2003, 12:51 PM btw, wasn't it Kinboat who made that howitzer?
Gogf Nov 30, 2003, 01:03 PM Wow, your right. How did I get them mixed up? Hmmm... Changing first post now...
Sarevok Nov 30, 2003, 03:01 PM so here is you gas shell thread...
Gogf Dec 01, 2003, 01:20 PM yup
