View Full Version : installing patches 1.27f and 1.29f

I just started playing PTW again after a long period of inactivity, and I was getting all kinds of weird crashes and startup issues. So, I decided to do a clean reinstall and now everything is fine, but it got me thinking: Do I need to reinstall Civ III, then Civ III patch 1.29f, then PTW, then PTW patch 1.27f? Or can I skip 1.29f? Or do I need to install both Civ III and PTW, then patch over both of them? I hate to expose my ignorance here, but this is the first game with an expansion pack that I have ever played, and I don't really know if the order in which I patch things matters. Thanks in advance.

In this particular case, you just need to install Civ3, then PTW, then patch PTW to v1.27f. The PTW installation process automatically updates Civ3 to v1.29f.

Do i need to install any patch before installing C3C.I thought that C3C included previous patches so i just installed it over CIV3 but is it so or what?

If you want to play generic Civ3, you would want to install the Civ3 v1.29f patch. (For some reason, Conquests comes with a fully-patched PTW, but doesn't patch Civ3 up to 1.29. :crazyeye: )

I don't know if not patching Civ3 to 1.29f will make a difference to Conquests or not....

It's been a busy couple of days. I just got back to check this thread. Thanks for the reply.

Reading the Conquests forum, I think it is important to patch Civ3 to v1.29f.

Padma in the file Infogrames Interactive/Civ3/Readme(not C3C or PTW Readme)i found that it has the additions/Changes/fixes of v1.29f-v1.21f-v1.17f and v1.16f patches. So this means that these patches are included and have been installed with C3C.Or am i wrong?

(I have posted this in another thread also)

Sounds like the patches *should* be installed. But I have heard too many stories from people who say that their Civ3 was still in an unpatched state. I'm guessing it is safer to do a manual patch than to just assume it's alright.
