View Full Version : Huge C3C Game Rule File
Skydivingcows Dec 03, 2003, 01:08 AM This Word document is 19 pages. It includes everything you would want to know about the units, UU, wonders, improvements, terrain, resources, tech tree and more. If you have ever wanted to have one printed document beside you, then this is it.
Fixed errors reported by inudog and 14red.

Here's one page...
It's worth downloading for this page only.

kring Dec 04, 2003, 02:24 AM Based on that one page, it looks good.
When I try to download it, I get an error message about the file being currently unavailable.
Skydivingcows Dec 04, 2003, 08:57 PM I read through the forum and found out how to use the easy upload system. The file is now added to the link above. I suppose Geocities was down when you tried to download it.
Kal-el Dec 05, 2003, 12:27 AM Nice Job!
kring Dec 05, 2003, 01:18 AM I got it through Geocities finally :). I am glad you posted it here.
The wait was worth it. :goodjob:
MaGicBush Dec 05, 2003, 07:28 PM Hrm, when I try to open the word file it says "Unable to load graphics conversion filter. Continue with document conversion?"
Any suggestions? I click yes and it keeps popping up that same window, click no it exits word.
royfurr Dec 06, 2003, 01:52 PM Skydivingcows,
Your file looks great!
Thanks for your efforts.
Two questions:
1) Does this in essence replace all earlier guides/charts to vanilla Civ and PTW?
2) THE BIGGIE: I see in the civ's section the 31 "normal" civs ... do you have the info, could you do an addenda, that will show or add in the info, for the the "32" civ, the Austrians?
They may well become my favorite (sentimental reasons, mostly). It would be great to have their info at hand for making easy comparsions to the other "31".
As there has already been a thread, "What civ do you want to bump in order to add the Austrians?" (or to that effect), I may well not be the only person who would love to see the info for the Austrians added.
Thanks. Again, great job!
Colonel Kraken Dec 07, 2003, 07:21 PM Wow. Lot's of work went into that. Good job and thank you very much.
Skydivingcows Dec 07, 2003, 08:17 PM Sorry about the delay, I don't have the Internet at my place. I have no idea what might cause the graphics problem. Try Microsoft.com is all I can say. :ack:
And as much as I hate to admit it, I've never tried vanilla. Don't rightly know how to import it. It took me awhile just to add units the other day for the first time. I think this also implies that I don't know about the Austrians I suppose. It would be rather difficult to squeeze them in the screen as well so you'll have to add them to the very top. This guide DOES NOT work with PTW. There are a few subtle changes such as Republic (Unit cost?) Tech changes (Ironclads...) Englands traits and more I believe. I have a simple one page chart for PTW that I will upload when I switch computers (bro's final exam week, all his)
P.S. Colonel
Are the bold Tigers Korean? My bro was a crew chief in the Triple Nickel Fighter Squadron in Italy.

Nope. F-15s based out of Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.
Padma Dec 09, 2003, 11:11 AM Just got a chance to look at this. Very well done.
Skydivingcows Dec 10, 2003, 07:03 PM This is a small one page file resembling the picture in the first post. It works with PTW and Civ3. It includes the traits of the civs, their special unit with difference of original unit, resources and tech required to build the unit, and techs civ starts with. Great to tape on computer desk :)
14Red Dec 11, 2003, 05:13 AM Great job! Already printed it here at work.
A small remark, the commercial dock gives +1 commerce on water tiles instead of +1 food on water tiles.
inudog Dec 11, 2003, 09:41 AM Anarchy and despotism impose a penalty of one food or shield if the tile produces 3 or more food or shield respectively. It is a minor difference from what you have and only applies to a few bonus resources.

bru Dec 11, 2003, 09:47 AM Thanks for your efforts Skydivingcows.
planetfall Dec 11, 2003, 10:10 AM Skydivingcows,
What an image!!!!! too much fun!!!
Abilities file is fine. Overview file will not load at all. It starts to come up and then
crashes. Do you have a more friendly version. Current crashes on either scroll down or save as. I would guess it is a problem with embedded macros or linked graphics.
I have tried opening as both Word 2000 and Word97 and both fail.

Skydivingcows Dec 12, 2003, 12:25 AM I modified the file. I'll post it at the top when I get a chance. It includes the errors inudog and 14red caught. Funny thing is, I caught those myself but forgot to change them before uploading. Thanks for posting that. I also downloaded some updates for Office so maybe that will fix PF's problem, if not, post again. It's Word 2002.

planetfall Dec 12, 2003, 08:55 AM Very strange file. Don't have Word2002. When try to open it crashes and erases the file so have to unzip again. Very strange. I tried turning off DDE, OLE, autorun macros and same problem.
Any chance of posting Word 2000 version?

Padma Dec 12, 2003, 09:21 AM I run Word2000 and had no problem ....
planetfall Dec 12, 2003, 09:29 AM It may be a typical MS problem of adding extras so other apps break. MS has a reputation for designing their apps so other apps have a hard time with them. No surprise here. It's just that the import filters can't handle the file. This is not usual. Almost all Word files are ok unless there are special VBA type additions or embedded links to files that don't exist.

Strengefuhrer Dec 12, 2003, 01:54 PM Very, very nice file. I can just say however, that feudalism is just screwed up? Is it meant to be that way? What was firaxis thinking, since when does a metropolis provide less support then town?
vedoreus Dec 12, 2003, 03:07 PM Feudalism is not supposed to have any metropolises.
When Knight's and kings were ruling there were no huge city's.
To avoid sticking to feudalism in modern times you are penalized with less support.
Strengefuhrer Dec 12, 2003, 07:31 PM Makes no sense nonetheless.
clabauterman Dec 15, 2003, 04:12 AM Nice. Thank's for the effort
MaGicBush Dec 15, 2003, 03:54 PM I just have Word Pad 5 for windows XP. I downloaded the thing you linked me to Buk and it works! Thanks.
Great job Cows!
Misfit_travel Dec 23, 2003, 07:24 AM This is a very helpful user guide for quickly looking up information. Thankyou for taking the time to compile and post it.

dsr Oct 20, 2004, 10:07 PM bump.
IMHO - this should be added to the reference section in the main civfanatics page.
I added one page to the end with some other game type info (world sizes, difficulty levels, etc). This last page could use some serious cleanup... if/when/ever I get around to that I'll post the update.

Matt_G Jan 15, 2005, 09:50 PM For those that don't have MS Word, here (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/Civilization_Conquest_v1.1.zip) is a copy of the file in .pdf for Adobe Reader
one_hoop May 13, 2006, 11:21 AM This is pretty sweet and has already answered one question for me just from looking through it initially. I will probably have this pdf open whenever I'm running a game in case I need to switch over to it. You can't access the civolopedia when in the diplomacy screen or after viewing another city screen from establishing embassies or espionage. Nice to have all this info in one place and in an easy to digest form.
One suggestion or request would be for the unit images to match those that are used for the city screen (when it's your city, you can just "scroll over", but not for enemy cities). Sometimes when another civ is ahead of me or when they have special units I am left wondering what exactly is defending their city. It would be easier to answer using this reference if the pictures matched.
I especially like the fact that the tech tree already has their "prices" (in lightbulbs x10?) written in. Again, no civolopedia with diplomacy screens and it's nice to know how much another civ is "ripping me off" in tech trades ;).
