Ok, so who wants to help the idiot new guy? Great! Anyways. I've been running the game w/o a any problems. Until now that is . I want to take the game back to EB and trade it in on something new:but ,not actually give up playing. Now i know how to make copies;but all my attempts create what seem to be(upon inspection) exact duplicates with the exception of an unexplained 20 mb which wont transfer to my cd-r and wont reveal themselves when i explore the original.
Im on windows xp pro what am i doing wrong?

Let me be sure I understand correctly: you want to return the game you bought, but you don't want to return "the game". Perhaps a quote from the Forum Rules (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumRules.shtml) will help explain:Zero tolerance on piracy.
