Here is Section F of the DG2 Code of Laws. This section deals with the role of Forum Moderators. Please propose any modifications that will make for a better ruleset, as well as identify any passages that are no longer needed.

F. Forum Moderators
1. Democracy game forum moderators are responsible for handling elections and
site maintenance.
2. Democracy game forum moderators are responsible for enforcing Civfanatics
Forum rules within the Democracy Game Forums.
3. Are not officials in the demogame government just by virture of their status as
Moderators. However, Moderators, properly registered as citizens, may stand
for election, or appointment, to any office, or position, as allowed to all citizens
within the law.
4. Do not enforce Democracy Game specific rules, unless they have been elected,
or appointed, to an office that is tasked with such functions.

These are pretty clear-cut, DZ. I for one, have no problem with them. :)

I would like to see this section scraped. Since we have an Election office that can take care of all the Termly election needs.

I'll second that, it is not necessary for the mods to take over the election duties as we already have an election office.

@Padma - Welcome back to the DemoGame! :D

@CG, Boots - Since there may be times that the mods will need to close the election threads, I feel that should stay here to some extent. How about:

F. Forum Moderators
1. Democracy game forum moderators are responsible for site maintenance.
2. Democracy game forum moderators are responsible for enforcing Civfanatics
Forum rules within the Democracy Game Forums.
3. Democracy game forum moderators are responsible
for overseeing the election process and determining the validity of election results.

While the Election Office plays an important role, I believe that the buck should stop at the mods' doorstep.

Also, we now have the ability to screen the results of an election for unregistered citizens and DLs(double log-ins) so we may need to cover this in the Code of Standards discussion when it comes up. Or we can discuss it now. :)

@DZ - That is even better :D. YOu can be an important ally to the Election Office :D.

I just hope the vote scans dont corrupt the forums :).

With the absense of further comment, I recommend proceeding with the poll.
