View Full Version : Moonsinger Sid++ attempt
Moonsinger Dec 22, 2003, 08:09 PM It's Sid plus plus becuase the AIs are exploiting the gpt bug like crazy! !!! By the time I met them and before I was able to make my first deal, IIRC, the Incan and the Indian already got over 20000 gold piling up in their treasury. Even Japan and America (the poorest among them) had more gold than me. Anyway, a recap on my starting position:

To save time and shield, I popped most of the nearby hut by settlers. And here is my little world at 2190 BC with 1 granary in full operation and two more were about to come online shortly:

Peacefully expand in my little corner around 650 BC and beyond:

 Methinks me will be waiting for a patch...
I am curious though, what are your game settings (other than Sid)?
Even though I'm sure you'll have no trouble earning a score to make the HOF Sid list, I'll wish you luck anyway...
Moonsinger Dec 22, 2003, 08:48 PM Since everyone were so rich, I had no choice but to play Robin Hood with them for awhile to build up my treasury. I threw a tea party here and there and invited some AIs to come over for song and dance (well, they came anyway with or without invitation:(). The problem is that when the party is over, they don't want to leave my land and usually leave me with an option of "leave" or "declare war". In most case, I turned all my citizens into tax collector to pump up my income to the max then buy as many techs from them as possible (sometimes I asked them for a big loan), then ask them to leave, they declared, and I don't have to pay them back anything.:) Sorry, it's an exploit but what else could I do.;) I will let Aeson and you guys to decide whether to allow or disallow. Since the AIs were trading like crazy among themselves (and with the gpt bug), I don't stand much of a chance if I don't exploit them back. Anyway, here is the snapshot of the weathiest civ on the planet:

A few turn ago, Gandhi was first; he's in second place with just a little bit over 80K gold now. I'm coming 5th place with just a little bit over 40K gold:

The Inca is in third with over 54K gold:

Basically, everyone are super rich in this game. I have been making a lot of money from fighting a lot of phony wars and 1 real war against Japan. For each city that I conquered, I would collect anywhere between 630 to 4000 gold right there; instantly pay for the cost to replace my lost units.:)
Moonsinger Dec 22, 2003, 08:56 PM My current army:

My current alliance:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/ms_sid360ad3.jpg
Basically, everyone are currently at war with at least two other civs and they are switching their alliance almost every turn. Since everybody are having a lot of money to throw around, they could buy and break their alliance without any problem. So far, I haven't broken any deal yet.:)

Huge, Wet, Warm, 5 bilions year, sedentary barb with 8 random AIs set to the least aggressive mode.
Moonsinger Dec 22, 2003, 09:12 PM My current score:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/ms_sid360ad5.jpg
Although the Korean is the weathiest civ, they don't really know what to do with their money. Each of their town is worth around 4000 gold. at the monent.
It seems to me that the AIs don't pay cash to rush their military units like we do.
Moonsinger Dec 22, 2003, 09:36 PM My latest save (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/ms_sid_430ad.zip). It just cracked again. It seems that everytime I click on a scientist, the game freeze up.:(

Oh, I don't blame you one bit. You're doing what you have to in order to maintain pace with the AI. It's just I don't think I personally could pull it off. Remember, I'm someone that can beat the "old" Emperor and Deity but not in such a fashion as to get into the HOF on those levels.
Industrial age techs in the 4th century AD?!! Not my cup of tea...:goodjob:

Least aggressive mode? Is there a new menu option I'm unaware of?

Yes, here is the screen shot of that:

Note: the AI mode is at the bottom right.
superslug Dec 22, 2003, 11:15 PM Thanks, I wasn't aware of that!

A bug perhaps? If so, have you already posted it in the bugs forum?
On the game: Very impressive! :goodjob:

No, I haven't posted it in the bugs forum yet. I'm now 100% sure about that bug because it can be repeated in any game turn. Basically, if I click to change a scientist into an entertainer, the game will freeze. Note: it will happen in any scientist that you can find.
Edit: I have found a solution to this problem! Since I was using the old EvanCiv smiley graphic mood pack that didn't have policeman or whatever, that's why it cracked up on the scientist.
Moonsinger Jan 04, 2004, 11:13 AM Well, I think I won't continue this game because it's becoming too easy and the AIs can't put up much of the fight.:( It's like taking candies from the baby.:( At the current rate, I could easily reach the domination limit by 1000 AD.
The problem with the gpt bug is worse than I thought! Most of the AIs in my game are extremely weathy with at least 50K gold in their treasuries. Even when they are losing the war badly, their treasuries keep on filing up.
For one thing, most of them are addicted to Fascism!!! IMO, Fascism spells doom to the AIs becuase they couldn't spend their gold to rush anything. They are now sitting on a mountian of gold and couldn't spend it!!! Of course, that means everytime I capture one of their cities, I would collect at least 2000 gold per city. With that kind of money, I could easily replace my lost and still have extra money to rush improvement. This game has become too easy; therefore, I think I will start a new Sid game when the patch come out.
I'm going back to PTW for now.:)
Chieftess Jan 09, 2004, 01:22 PM I would say that was a lucky starting posistion though - semi isolated. I only had 1 sid level start like that during testing. :)
