View Full Version : All in favor of the Mayans?
Hygro Dec 26, 2003, 05:53 PM Here's a poll to see how many people want to SPECIFICALLY play the mayans. IF you don't SPECIFICALLY want to play as them, even if it would be okay if we did, vote the bottom option of NO (which I am aware is poorly worded).
Cheetah Dec 26, 2003, 05:57 PM Couldn't there be a third option: "Yes, Maya is fine by me."
I'd vote for that one. :)
Hygro Dec 27, 2003, 01:01 AM ok I shall edit my first post to include that option two just means that you don't specifically want to be the mayans, even though you have nothing against it.
Ankka Dec 27, 2003, 07:53 AM Yes, very much wanna be them. :)
Good of you to put up his poll. :)
But, in case someone else wants to be them too, we'll have to have another option too, just in case. (I doubt though)
Emp.Napoleon Dec 27, 2003, 01:59 PM Maybe you should say the Pro's and con's.
Ankka Dec 28, 2003, 02:12 AM Good:
Agricultural > early bonus.
Javelin Throwers can capture workers by defeating untis like barb warriors. :whipped:
Bad:

Emp.Napoleon Dec 28, 2003, 02:17 PM With what tech does Javelin Throwers come with.
Ankka Dec 29, 2003, 01:27 AM Warrior Code, IIRC.
Gainy Dec 30, 2003, 06:26 PM I'm happy to go the Maya, but i'm really not too fussed. Are we definately going one of the new civs?
Ankka Jan 01, 2004, 09:22 AM Yes, we are.
Matrix Jan 02, 2004, 06:51 PM I'm not very fond of the Maya. :undecide: Especially their UU, I don't like it. I much rather be Germany, Arabia, Scandinavia, Chinese - civs that have a much more useful UU.
But it seems some of you do like the Maya UU, but ah well, just my two cents. :)
Ankka Jan 03, 2004, 04:39 AM But the point is that it is much more useful to have an early UU than a late one. Actualy, it would be almost useless to get Panzers, chances are we'll never get there. And in the current one we are China, and still aren't getting Riders... Same with Arabia. Scandinavia has an great ŁU, but it comes a bit late...
Well, all suggestions are good, anyway.
Peri Jan 04, 2004, 04:08 AM I'd quite like to be the Japanese since their uu has the virtue of being mounted without requiring horses. It also comes at a time when the best wonders become available.
Ankka Jan 04, 2004, 07:54 AM There is one but: It takes ages to get that far in the game. But, I guess it doesnt matter...
And the Japanese don't have so good stats IMHO for an ISDG. The Maya would have a very good bonus from the start, as they are agricultural. Gah, I can't remember wether they are sci or ind on the second stat... Both of them are a bonus too, though.
Gainy Jan 04, 2004, 07:56 AM Question: Do we even know if we can go the Maya? Do we know what the other sites have chosen as their civs? I'm beyond the point of caring who we go anyways, just choose one ;)
EDIT: I might be misunderstanding how ISDG's work, can someone explain?
Ankka Jan 04, 2004, 08:02 AM Well, I dunno what I should explain. but this is the point: Every team lists 2 or 3 of their civ choices, with the one they most want as no: 1, the second as number 2 etc. If 2 teams wanna be the same civ, the game admins flip a coin. So we need 3 choices on who we wanna be.
Gainy Jan 04, 2004, 08:04 AM But am I right in saying that each Site has it's own team, and each team goes a different Civ, and each has their own president etc?
Cheetah Jan 04, 2004, 10:06 AM Correct.
Now, it looks like we will be playing 2 games in this ISDG, since there are so many sites who wants to play. The admins will probably split us so that if two sites chooses the same civ, they don't play the same game, and are allowed to have the civ of their choice.
But we realy should have our 3 Civ-choises ready soon!
Hygro Jan 04, 2004, 09:17 PM how about the mayans, incans, and sumerians?
Ankka Jan 05, 2004, 08:17 AM They're all agr, so I think they're not bad choices at all. :)
Gainy Jan 05, 2004, 11:34 AM I'm against going the Inca. Their scout is too expensive, and ruins the expansionist trait. I'm happy to go anyone else though :)
Hygro Jan 05, 2004, 02:28 PM isn't their scout ATR?
Ankka Jan 06, 2004, 01:56 AM ATR? Ah, All Terrain As Road... Yes, but it has only 1 movement point. But he also has attack and defence so... you chose.
