Vander Jan 01, 2004, 03:02 AM I'll be your deputy. I ran Esquiline for it's last term in the last game.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Jan 01, 2004, 10:12 AM Congrats, Plex. Well run race, but I have to critique the province name. Berry? At least make it some sort of wine (or, in my case, whine)
Fier Canadien Jan 01, 2004, 03:13 PM Hi, allpowerful Plexus. I'd be interested in the position of mayor. Would you be interested in appointing me (if it's still the way it's done)?
CivGeneral Jan 01, 2004, 06:55 PM Congrats Plexus. If you get any Cities without mayors, let me know and Ill find some people who would be interested in mayorship :).

Propose something, then. I have considered Burgundy, Bordeaux and Champagne.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Jan 01, 2004, 07:57 PM Well, first I have to say "Cabaret", since that was my idea. But next, why not one of the wines (the ones you mentioned, sans champagne) or Normandy?
Plexus Jan 01, 2004, 09:02 PM We had 'Normandy' before, remember?
Cyc Jan 01, 2004, 09:23 PM I think Berry is fine. We don't have to go with wines.
DaveShack Jan 02, 2004, 01:22 AM Dear Governor Plexus,
I see we don't have a thread in the Government forum for the Senate. As the senior senator (by vote count) I think you get that honor. :D
Plexus Jan 02, 2004, 01:50 AM Thanks for reminding me. Posted.
Plexus Jan 02, 2004, 01:53 AM @Vander- A confirmation poll will be posted. Welcome. :)
Plexus Jan 02, 2004, 01:56 AM @Mayorial hopefuls- Once there is a new city, people who want such positions will be selected on merits and my past experiances with that person.

Umm, the new CoL article on appointed positions has not been ratified yet. ;) FYI, confirmation polls are no longer required, but any citizen can post a poll asking for the appointment to be voided. See this poll (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73790) for text of the proposed appointment process.
Plexus Jan 02, 2004, 02:02 AM Ha. Guess I need to brush up on the old CoL... uhh... new CoL.
Vander, consider yourself appointed.
Vander Jan 02, 2004, 01:52 PM Sweet! (Pun) So what do you want me to do, as your deputy?
Plexus Jan 02, 2004, 03:55 PM Help with the queue, support the mayors... pretty much anything that you think would help improve our province.
Vander Jan 03, 2004, 01:36 AM I can do that.
Cyc Jan 04, 2004, 09:54 PM Mr. Governor, may I suggest that we free up the Worker to go North and explore for a while, rather than work on irrigation or mining? I believe that because we will be producing Settlers so quickly, that we get an early idea of what our map looks like.

Do we not have a Warrior for exploration? With such a bountiful starting point, the worker can be used to maximize the Flood Plains and get us Settlers and Workers even faster.
Or we can build roads on river tiles and implement them at first. This can give us an early Scientific(or commerce) boost.
Let's not send a Worker out into the unknown undefended, please.
Vander Jan 04, 2004, 11:11 PM Screenshot of our start-location:

I'd like to know if the Governor thinks we should settle here or not. Perhaps the hill wouold make a better location?
Plexus Jan 04, 2004, 11:26 PM @Cyc- I would rather build roads for the time being and order the warrior that will soon be built to explore.
@Vander- Actually, I think that our current location is best, as it will allow us to get all the benefits of the surrounding terrain.
CivGeneral Jan 05, 2004, 04:48 PM The Ministry of Defense is proud of the build queues the Province of Berry has placed in 2 Warriors into the slots :).
donsig Jan 05, 2004, 07:52 PM I applaud the governor for posting build queues in a timely manner but I feel compelled to point out that a little citizen discussion and maybe even a citizen poll on this matter would be appropriate. ;)
Vander Jan 05, 2004, 11:40 PM (Discussing: ) I agree with the governor on his choice. I would also propose that we put in another warrior and then a settler. Three directions of exploration are better than two.
wlievens Jan 08, 2004, 09:18 AM Plexus: since we started, it might be a good idea to update your first posts.

@plexus
tip: if you just dump updates in new posts last in the thread, rather than updating the first posts, it's easier for viewers to keep track of any changes. plus, the progress will be easier to follow if we for any reason want to check it later.
Plexus Jan 08, 2004, 04:28 PM Jeeze, guys, it's been what... 24 hours since our capital was founded? Most of those, I've been out, sleeping or at school.

There's actually a bit of tradition in keeping summary informational posts at the top of the thread, and posting notices of what changed at the bottom. So you're both right... :D
And to back Plexus up a bit, having it updated before the next turnchat is usually doing pretty good. Often people will be gone for a day or two. If there were only a way to let individuals edit a common post without giving them mod authority as well...
DaveShack Jan 08, 2004, 05:07 PM And now for an in-game request, while the IA ministry applauds getting a settler out as soon as possible, another warrior first to replace dear departed Chuck would be a good idea. To that end I'd suggest working both bonus grass for enough turns to squeeze out a warrior, and then switching back to one bonus grass and the irrigated wheat.
FortyJ Jan 09, 2004, 12:08 PM Does the esteemed Governor intend to revisit his previous insructions as they relate to the order of production in our capitol city given the recent events which resulted in the loss of our very first military unit?
Bill_in_PDX Jan 09, 2004, 05:51 PM Dear Governor,
I respectfully request that you consider the option of shifting our immediate priorities from production of a band of settlers, and instead replace the fallen comrades who died against 3-1 odds attempting to save our fair city.
CivGeneral Jan 09, 2004, 07:56 PM Plexus,
As Minister of Defense. I would like to see mre warriors placed in the build queue to replace the one we lost in the barbarian assault.
DaveShack Jan 09, 2004, 10:33 PM We definitely need 1 or even 2 more warriors prior to the 1st settler. Please consider setting the queue accordingly, and issuing orders to micro-manage to maximize shields over growth so we don't end up having to raise the lux rate when the pop reaches 3 or 4.
Plexus Jan 09, 2004, 11:35 PM I would concur with the current feelings on the queue. Another warrior (or two) would be a good idea. A new queue will be polled.
Plexus Jan 09, 2004, 11:57 PM A discussion on the current queue has been posted. You can find it HERE (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74838).
Bill_in_PDX Jan 10, 2004, 01:59 AM Thank you Plexus for your quick and effective response.
Plexus Jan 12, 2004, 05:55 PM A discussion on the current queue has been posted. You can find it HERE (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75122).
CivGeneral Jan 19, 2004, 10:53 AM Two Ministry of Defense sponsered threads and polls
I wish for the Govenor and citizens of the province of Berry to partisipate in the following polls and discussion threads.
Military Poll: Unit Quantity (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75905)
Military Discussion: Attack Russia or no? (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75904)
ravensfire Jan 19, 2004, 11:43 AM My Lord Governor,
Could you perchance place a screen shot of the status of our city in your office?
My thanks!

Chieftess Jan 21, 2004, 05:07 PM Very well... since mayorships are opening, I'll sign up for one... Perhaps Vandelay, or any desert (floodplain) town that opens up, assuming that it's in this province.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/DG4_futurecity_flag_cloth.jpg
What secrets will this cloth contain...???
Vander Jan 22, 2004, 04:28 AM I'm all cool for you being mayor, yet...
We shall see what the actual governor decrees...
Will_518 Jan 26, 2004, 11:47 AM hey, hopefully there are more than one town in the province.
i'd like to sign up for the position of a major as well. i want a bit more involvement in the game, and a little experience doesn't hurt.
Plexus Jan 26, 2004, 03:47 PM After much deliberation, I have decided to give the mayorship to Chieftess. Congratulations on your new post, CT. Give me the link to your town thread and I'll put it up.
RoddyVR Jan 27, 2004, 11:52 AM guess i should have read throught this thread just in case before posting that thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76779).
I'd like to be the mayor of Vo Mimbre, but as Vandelay seems to already have a mayor (Cheiftess) and Will_518 has requested a mayorship too, i guess i'm second in line with only one city available. lol.
if i cant have Vo Mimbre, i'd like to be considered for mayorship of any other town that gets settles that ISNT in/on a floodplain. i'm allergic to all the bugs and desease that those places produce.
Cyc Jan 27, 2004, 12:23 PM Vandelay was not taken by CT, RoddyVR. C T's Mayorship is for the Capital City (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=1548916#post1548916), Deux Rivieres. This means there are still two cities open as far as a Mayorship goes. :)
RoddyVR Jan 27, 2004, 12:30 PM oh, good point. i had assumed CT had Vandelay cause:
1. he mentioned it in his post asking to be mayor.
2. i assumed the governor holds the Mayoral position of the "main" city of the province.
guess i was wrong to assume. lol.
so i guess, i'm still asking to be mayor of Vo Mimbre.
I'm sure i'll be more thorough as a mayor, as i'll have a more limited amount of threads to look through for "relative" info, as aposed to a broad "i wonder where this could be" i was faced with in this issue.

No offense, CT. But I'm looking for a smiley that's laughing while not making any noise...

oh, sorry. i guess i assume most people on here are guys, and dont pay enough attention to the names to see that that clearly aint the case here.
Rik Meleet Jan 28, 2004, 07:53 AM And a "she" with a Firaxis - history.
She is in the credits for PTW and C3C !
CivGeneral Jan 28, 2004, 09:10 AM Well, I would like to sign up in advance for mayorship of Mara Jadeville
