I hope the ministry of internal affairs will have plans to bring in gold into our coffers for future upgrades of our warriors to swordsmen :).

CG, we dont even start out with Bronze. Why research two techs that our opponents will go for when we can research Math, one of the most expensive early techs, right off the bat?

Well, internal affairs doesn't handle the budget under current, though unratified, proposals. Also Trade & Technology organizes decisions on what to research.

That said, this office would advocate acquiring the techs which show resources (Iron Working and the Wheel) as soon as possible, so it can guide us towards settling in the best locations. The idea of researching Mathematics and then using it to trade for other 1st and 2nd tier techs sounds promising.

Calling all citizens

If you are interested in the position of Internal Affairs Deputy, please post here or send a PM. I don't bite, and have been considering ways to actively involve deputies in day to day operations so it will likely not be a do-nothing position. :D

Though, It seems like you will be managing the sliders though, make sure to include in your first instructions to turn down the science slider to get the +1gpt (while at the same research speed). Also, make sure to include to switch IMMEDIANTLY to the tech the sci/trade department choose's instead of waiting for the pop-up (gives you an extra turn of research).

If I'm don't get the Trade & Technology deputy, and your still looking for a deputy, I would be happy to take the job. :)

I would like to suggest that we settle in our starting location.

I agree with donsig. I also believe we should use our worker for exploration for a while as we'll have plenty of food and production.

I would disagree. I think that the hill would make a better location. It has better defense and more shields than on the desert tile. Besides, the loss of one turn will quickly be made up with all the people we will "grow."

Settling in a location other than the starting one would mean losing valuable development time.

On the other hand, moving to the hills might be more productive...

I'd say, somebody do the maths?

Do we really lose very much by taking one turn to move to a different location?

If we move one turn, no.

I think we should move the worker to the wheat. Settle where we are, unless the worker spots something very very interesting (can't imagine what). Let the hut pop by cultural expansion.

Don't waste valuable worker time walking around.

Has any thought be given to our response to possible demands from other countries. Although a bit early, I would prefer that we have a planned response ready.

We got a bunch of reports from exploration parties about the surrounding contryside. It does not look particularily good, but we have a few more options to consider. Please share your thoughts in the continuing saga of the city placement thread, here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74665)

Id suggest for the next city to put in in the south-west along the path our worker can make a road to the new location, but also we have a luxury down there.

Let's classify our cities according to their primary function: settler factory, culture generator, military depot, etc. We did this in an earlier demogame and it was a great idea. It would be very useful to do that here.

I think I actually set those classifications up. Too bad domestic leader is such a tough job, because it was a lot of fun. :)
