Hi I have a query with regards to reinstalling windows
compressed folder option. I previously installed winace
in order to be able to view a .rar archieve succefully. I
have no removed the program after a month and I can no
longer create a compressed file from the File menu. Is
there a way to reinstall this without reinstalling
windows? If so could someone kindly point me in the right
direction? :)

Many Thanks

Mark

I can't answer your question, but I *can* move this to the general "Computer Talk" Forum. ;)

I don't know what compression option you are referring to. I don't recall Windows having a compression method unless you install a program like WinZip, WinAce, WinRAR, or another.

I suggest just downloading WinZip or WinRAR, or both. They are free.

Yes, there is an option called Compressed Folder, which means that all zip-files (unless associated with a zip program) shows as a folder with a zipper on them.

I don't know how to install it, but in the register, it seems as if it is the file zipfldr.dll that handles it. What happens if you try to associate .zip-files with that dll-file? Or search on google?
