There is a poll in the UN (http://cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/civ3/viewtopic.php?t=5561&sid=2d09cd8d67c20ae593ba05248f585050) on wether we want a totaly random map or a moded map. To quote Boots in the UN:

Here are the choices for this poll over whether the map should be pre-made or random:

1) NO modification of any type. (Admins see the map, note the map for posterity/safekeeping, we begin play.)

2) Extremely minimal modification. (Admins see the map, note the map posterity/safekeeping/eventual *****ing about what was changed, alter any starting positions in which they feel the LAND is excessively bad, we begin play.)

3) Moderate modification. (Admins see the map, note the map posterity/safekeeping/eventual *****ing about what was changed, alter any starting positions in which they feel the LAND is excessively bad, move any resources which favor/disfavor any team to an unfair degree in the judgement of the admins, who we have all confirmed we respect and trust in their judgement, or they wouldn't be there and then we begin play.)

4) Serious/total modification. (Admins see the map and massively revamp it, OR admins create a map from scratch.)

This poll will be open for the standard 72 hours, in the interest of starting the game as soon as possible.

This poll was posted Fri Jan 02, 2004 7:23 pm in the UN, which means we won't have much time to vote on it.

So what do you say?

Oh, and I think we have to decide on the Barbarian level and which civ we want to be very soon...

I like #1 and no barbarians and the for us to be the Netherlands.

IMHO we should vote for #2 or #3.

BTW, Cheetah, thanks. for posting this. :) I was a bit too lazy yesterday...

Wiz: No problem, just remember to vote for us at the UN before the poll ends. :)

And people: There are very little time to vote in this poll. If you want to vote, do it now!

We should consider making this one cumulative, but in which direction? Probably the least modification supported by a majority...

Seems like Option 2 wins.

Wizard: Will you give our vote at the UN?

I voted two too, without peeking. ;) It can be very unfair, like when you start on an island with only tundra and hills. But I don't like altered worlds, like they do on civ3duelzone.com, where they change the positions of resources to make it more fair. :undecide: That way there's no cheer for discovering resources near your land.

Edit: Like I espected: CDZ voted 3. ;)

Cheetah: CivGeneral is the only one who can vote for CFC, so we'll have to wait for him. I'm only assisting here...

I voted for option 2.

I voted 2 as well.

Still no vote at the UN from CivGeneral. :( Thankfully, due to their forum outage, CDG has extended the vote deadline until roughly 6pm GMT tomorrow(the 7th). Is there any way that myself, as moderator of these forums can make the vote? I would like to turn the tide of our poor representation at the UN but do not want to step on CG's toes. Then again, we never technically had a vote for Team Captain.....

As long as CivGeneral isn't here I think someone should be allowed to replace him, possibly until he returns.

It is noyt possible, CG is the only one who can vote, the poll is a specificly set one so only team captains can vote...:( I would've done it otherwise.

Oh, he just voted. :)

Good, then. :)

He just voted verbally but the vote count is still the same. People are already asking what will happen if the verbal count doesn't match the vote tally.

We really look like amateurs over there. :(

So? The game hasn't even started.

Still, next time be on time, CivGeneral. :nono:

Because we don't have anyone who would visit the place regularily and have something to say... or that is how I feel. :(

Never Ever vote for random again. Always go for a complete makeover for a map.

What do you mean by that comment? I'm quite happy with the map that we played on.

 You're happy with this map. :crazyeye: The map needed to more balanced to make the game even. The other continent was way to powerful. Six luxuries to two, is not fair in anyone's language.

Well, I enjoyed the challenge. Plus, we had ivory (SoZ), a chokepoint (easy to defend), and an island (harder to conquer us (not in this case, however)).
