In PTW my little Mod had plenty of Barbs roaming about, but under C3C (I converted the Mod) my Barbs don't seem to increase nor are they very aggressive. In fact I got out of the first era without seeing a Barb at all!

So checked in debug mode, my single Barb camp (I’ve only ever started with one camp on the map) the Barb camp did not increase above 2 in about 30+ turn and only one Barb moved out to fortify its self in the next square...

My Barbs are set at restless, I could increase this... but it was ok before?

This is not normal for my mod under PTW what has changed?

HELP please

i myself recognise a lousy barb AI in c3c - they seem to fortify with countless units on one square and do nothing as long as you don't stand on a "HOT SPOT" - if you stand on such hot spot they attack until they got defeated or conquered that space - but they do no exploration attacking or anything else - they just fortify and do nothing

if someone knows how to get them more aggressive i would appreaciate it to know how to do this too

I've also noted Barbarians fortifying indefinitely in C3C. Didn't MUs get suffficiently defanged in PTW or what? 24 barb Horsemen fortified on a mountain in the middle of nowhere is just pathetic.

YES, the barbarians are complete wooses now. In 'poly I remember somebody writing, that the great AI barb activity in PTW was accidental. I don't think Firaxis has an exact formula to affect the behavior of AI barbarians. But I could be wrong, a Firaxian could better explain what happpened.

P.S. Would better stats for a barb help?

I have not tested this in-game yet, but this news is most distressing. I'm a BIG Barbarian fan! The Civ II barbarians were probably the best ... if they've gotten even WUSSIER in C3C, then it's a crying shame.

Are you playing on RAGING HORDES (my default setting)? If you click on Raging Hordes, and they don't RAGE, this is a serious bug that needs to be taken care of in the next patch.

I’ve just changed from restless to raging to see if its any better, I think I'll increase the number of Barb camps as well it may help... NOT HAPPY!

I must admit I like the aggressive play of the Barbs in PTW they really add to the game especially in the first era where they can do some serious damage, if your not read for them and at the least act as a check to development on all the races.

My Mod has lost its BITE!

See, I personally prefer the Barbs to be more cautious... I especially didn't like it in Civ2 because they'd attack anything and everything. In Civ3, they weren't much better, but in PtW, they really seemed to sharpen up and go for kills they could actually win.

I dunno about C3C too much though.

Yes I agree, in PTW the Barbs are fun and challenging in the first era, and could be used to limit expansion... BUT NOW, they are useless, you might as well turn them off for all the good they do! By that I mean they do NOTHING!

I hope this is a temp thing and will be fix in a latter patch!

i totally agree quinn dexter - in ptw it was challeging but now they are nothing more than a roadblock - in ptw you needed to explore and put a small army against the barbs but now if know where they are you only need to go around them :(

Well, I tweaked my Mod Barbs on rampage and placed 15 Barb camps on map to start with.

I'm now out of the first era... and yes I have seen a Barb but only in his CAMP! I have yet to see any movement out of a camp and all the camps I have seen only had one unit in!

Hmm... Not Happy

So the games has lost its freshness, its unpredictability one game just plays like another... will I keep playing... short term yes, but you know when you get that feeling of.... game over, well I just got it with C3C.

Don't know, may even uninstall and go back to PTW...

So the consensus is that the barbs were best in PTW? I always thought the PTW barbs were regretable weak compared to the Vanilla ones.

For the record, I always play with Raging barbs.
