Meanwhile, can you send again the turn to Rocinante ? (jmot AT sprynet DOT com) ? You'll be sending it over there for the time being.
Rocinante, thanks for chiming in. I'll pm you Apricorn's password.
Oh, so I should send the turn on, gotcha.
And please, I have one warrior, and I am in contact with two other Civs. I am pretty screwed in this game, I won't survive long . . .
Goober Apr 15, 2004, 09:18 PM Sent it, I hope . . .
Rocinante Apr 16, 2004, 12:53 AM got game, didn't get pm, still need password--send regular email jmot AT sprynet DOT com

Apricorn Apr 16, 2004, 05:00 AM Im sending my password to Rocinante. I should have civ3 access again this weekend, but I'll continue to stand out of this one for a while at least.
Goober Apr 16, 2004, 09:40 AM Ohh, so we should get a replacement for the Civ Elite match as well?
Apricorn Apr 16, 2004, 06:11 PM No, I should be able to play the Civ Elite turns from this weekend onwards.
Rocinante Apr 16, 2004, 07:45 PM Ah, still need password to play-- jmot AT sprynet DOT com
Goober Apr 16, 2004, 07:45 PM Ok, did I send on the Civ Elite one? I think I did . . .
And the password would be a good thing, yes, quite a good thing . . .
Apricorn Apr 17, 2004, 04:29 AM Rocinante - check your pms - I sent the password to you yesterday.
Arrogant Apr 17, 2004, 05:20 AM Aggie (our password keeper) must have also pm'd it to you.
Rocinante Apr 17, 2004, 09:41 AM PMs came through, thanks.
Rocinante Apr 17, 2004, 10:08 AM standing in for Apricorn
2310 sent to Iron Duck
Apricorn--you didn't specifically say what to do with the tactical nuke so I launched it at Sumeria, hope you don't mind.
ironduck Apr 17, 2004, 10:14 AM Sent to predesad, glad to see this game going again :)

Apricorn and I have an alliance, he is supposed to launch those nukes wherever i tell him to.
Arrogant Apr 23, 2004, 02:09 AM 2270 BC sent to RealGoober around 08:00 GMT
[Dr. Frankestein voice] IT'S ALIVE! [/Dr. Frankestein voice]
Goober Apr 24, 2004, 10:35 AM Got it, sent it, played it.
Sorry for the slight delay . . . I do send it to Rocinante, correct?
Rocinante Apr 24, 2004, 11:24 AM standing in for Apricorn
2270BC played and sent to IronDuck
Arrogant Apr 28, 2004, 06:20 AM 2230 BC sent to RealGoober around 12:00 GMT
Goober Apr 28, 2004, 06:19 PM Got it, played it, sending it (bloody ISP is being a beatch . . . )
I have no clue what time it is, just look above my name.
Rocinante Apr 28, 2004, 07:02 PM standing in for Apricorn
played and sent to Iron Duck
Goober May 01, 2004, 11:02 AM Not to seem impatient, but where is this? I have not seen hide nor hair of it for a couple days.
Rubberjello May 01, 2004, 11:47 AM Sent to Dogboy yesterday, and he acknowledged it.
DogBoy May 01, 2004, 11:49 AM Yep, I got it, played it, sent it to LouisWu.
Goober May 01, 2004, 11:53 AM Good, good, I was hoping that this wasn't stalled . . .
Rocinante May 03, 2004, 09:22 PM standing in for Apricorn
sent to Iron Duck
Goober May 03, 2004, 09:24 PM Right, I played this, apparently . . .
Goober May 11, 2004, 12:32 AM Got it, played it, found time to send it.
Righty-ho, mateys!
Rocinante May 11, 2004, 01:52 AM 2150BC sent to Iron Duck
Goober May 11, 2004, 09:49 AM Hey, sweet. When I got the e-mail telling me that somebody responded to this thread, it told me the message. Now THAT is pretty neat!!!
ironduck May 11, 2004, 02:52 PM Sent to predesad, but he's away for an extended time (check his profile), so..
Rubberjello May 11, 2004, 06:34 PM I have the feeling that (of the many PBEM games Predesad is involved in), this one was one he really didn't care too much about. I'm sure he wouldn't be upset at all if someone subbed for him.
Arrogant, you can PM him and get his password and a sub, if you like.
DogBoy May 11, 2004, 07:32 PM I think I have his password. I'm not sure because he sent me a lot of passwords, just checking to see if I do have this one. I pm'd him to see if he sent me his password because he wants me to play his turn. I'm just waiting for a response. If you guys don't want me to play his turn, I already have a sub lined up. I'm just waiting on his response.
Goober May 12, 2004, 11:17 PM Come on, I am doing terrible, waiting to be slaughtered, don't tell me that this is stopped!!!
DogBoy May 13, 2004, 05:29 AM Ok, the game has not stopped. Predesad has given me his password and I have found a replacement for the game. Whoever sends the game to Predesad needs to send it to:
civaddict2002 AT yahoo DOT com
He has agreed to take over his games. I have already e-mailed the password to him.
ironduck May 15, 2004, 12:46 PM Ok, I've sent my last turn on to that address, but I don't think the most recent one has made it to me yet.. either way, let's just play it from here.
DogBoy May 19, 2004, 06:25 AM Ok, should be no holdups here. We have our replacement, the game started moving again, now it's been 4 days. What gives?
ironduck May 19, 2004, 06:26 PM I sent it to the address you wrote here but never got a reply..
Methinks this game is just cursed and we should put it to sleep.
DogBoy May 19, 2004, 06:44 PM Ya, he got it because I got it. Someone after me and before you has help up the game.
Goober May 19, 2004, 10:09 PM So, where is the current turn? Who is holding things up?
I sent it last to Rocinante, where is it now? Lets not let this die!!!
Rocinante May 19, 2004, 10:51 PM Haven't seen it since May 10th.
Rubberjello May 20, 2004, 04:47 AM I'm suspicious of it being Arrogant. He's been awfully quiet lately, considering he is the host of this game.
DogBoy May 21, 2004, 06:07 AM Could be. It's been 6 days since I saw the turn last. I really don't know why people sign up for these games and either don't play them, or drop out of them when they don't want to play anymore, or at least tell the group when they are going to be away.
Rocinante May 21, 2004, 10:37 AM Probably Arrogant--I PMd him a few days ago but no response
He is my partner in another game and when I filled-in for him once I noticed he didn't seem to know what to do with his workers. He had the most magnificent start position I've ever seen but still hasn't produced anything after many turns.
DogBoy May 21, 2004, 10:39 AM Well, does anybody have his admin password then? I hate to drop the game host from the game, but if he's not going to play anymore... I would like to continue this game. Rocinante, do you have the password from when you filled in for him before? It might be the same.
Rubberjello May 21, 2004, 12:04 PM Aggie has all the passwords for this game, remember? Let's give Arrogant 24 more hours to check this thread, then we'll pm Aggie?
DogBoy May 21, 2004, 03:41 PM Ya, I agree with giving him 24 hours. Then if you could PM aggie that would be great. I hope nothing bad has happened to Arrogant.
Goober May 21, 2004, 07:18 PM Apologies all around, I got this, and sent it on to Rocinante. Sorry for the time it took me, things are getting crazy with the end of school coming up in about 4 WEEKS!!! THEN EXAMS!!! AHH!!!
I have played it, no worries.
DogBoy May 23, 2004, 08:24 PM Realgoober, have you taken your turn yet? I know that school finals can be a busy time. Been there and done that. If you did play your turn, then whoever comes next needs to play the turn and keep this game going.
The apathetic thought of "well the game is dead so I will just let it die" is pretty annoying. If anybody has that thought then let us know and we can retire your civ and get on with this game. If everybody just checks their e-mail once a day and plays the game then the game will continue, it has to continue. There is no logical explanation for this game failing if everybody just checks their e-mail and plays their turn.
Goober May 23, 2004, 11:09 PM Yes. Rocinante has it, I was just stressing about Exams. Truth be told, playing this takes like a couple minutes, max. There should be no reason for not being able to play it, unless you are on vacation, since it takes such a small period of time.
I agree with you completely, your second bit, the rant. And yes, I am doing very, very crappy, but i completely blame that on the person I took over from, whatshisface.
Rocinante May 23, 2004, 11:54 PM I sent 2110BC to IronDuck last Friday
Rocinante May 23, 2004, 11:57 PM Friday the 21st at 7:55 PM to be exact
Rocinante May 24, 2004, 12:02 AM Who is taking Predesad's place?
DogBoy May 24, 2004, 06:23 AM civaddict AT yahoo DOT com is taking Predesad's place. He has already been in the rotation once.
Rocinante May 24, 2004, 10:34 AM I sent 2110BC to IronDuck again just in case he didn't get it the first time
ironduck May 24, 2004, 11:51 AM I've already played and sent that turn.. resending again as well, just in case..
DogBoy May 24, 2004, 05:28 PM Ok, I just got that save and sent it to LouisWu so he has it.
Rocinante May 26, 2004, 10:52 AM Still standing in for Apricorn
2070BC played and sent to IronDuck
When is Apricorn coming back?
ironduck May 26, 2004, 10:55 AM I don't think he's ever coming back, this game is not a very popular one ;)
DogBoy May 26, 2004, 12:16 PM I don't think Apricorn is coming back for a while, but not just to this game. He had some computer problems awhile back (early April) and he hasn't been around since. My guess Rocky is you are just going to keep having to stand in for him.
I agree with Ironduck that this game isn't very popular, but it has the potential to be popular if people would just play their turns.
Goober May 26, 2004, 01:42 PM I got this, played it, and sent it. I think it was 2070 BC or something.
Rocinante should have it. Apparently.
ironduck May 26, 2004, 01:55 PM I got it from him and sent it along.. trying to crank out my very first settler from this ridiculous bug of a permanent size 1 city..
DogBoy May 29, 2004, 08:24 AM I am going out of town Saturday afternoon and will be back Sunday evening. Times are east coast USA. Have a good weekend.
But it looks like this game is stalled again so I'm sure I won't be missed.
Goober May 29, 2004, 11:22 AM Actually, me too, DogBoy. IU am being dragged kicking and screaming to Smogcouver, to Boringurnaby, and I'll be back Sunday night, likely late, knowing the bloody Ferries. (Vancouver, Burnaby, FYI)
I don't think it is stalled quite yet . . . I haven't even been eliminated yet!!!
Rocinante Jun 03, 2004, 10:10 AM 2030BC sent to IronDuck
ironduck Jun 03, 2004, 01:11 PM Wow.. I can't believe this thing is still humping along. But amazingly, I *finally* managed to do a timed workers-joining-city-of-death-to-produce-settler setup, so I'm now the proud owner of my very first settler! Who is playing instead of Arrogant now btw? Or did he come back? And why are we still playing this game? ;)
Rocinante Jun 03, 2004, 02:08 PM good question, I'd just as soon cross this one off my list, too.
DogBoy Jun 03, 2004, 02:51 PM We are playing because we all hate to quit games. It's really simple if we do this one simple thing...
1. Kick those who hold the game up for no reason out!
We all post "sent". If the next person posts three days later saying "I never got it" or "oops, guess I didn't see it in my inbox", they are gone. The game host retires their civ and we play with one less person. I really don't care about hurting anybody's feelings here.
Rocinante Jun 03, 2004, 02:55 PM I guess this one isn't so bad. Arrogant is around, I just got my first email from him (about a different game, though)
Rubberjello Jun 03, 2004, 02:56 PM I disagree about such harsh measures. There are genuine email snafus out there. Even if it is only true 2% of the time (Compared to the number of times that people come up with that excus, I would personally hate to be dropped for such a reason.
If, however, a distinct pattern emerges....
DogBoy Jun 03, 2004, 02:58 PM I agree with RJ. I don't mean we kick them the first time. But if we can see a pattern over time, that person is obviously holding up the game. I think most of us genuinely want the game to continue. If one person doesn't, then we should get rid of them.
ironduck Jun 03, 2004, 03:15 PM I'm in four games and this one is ridiculous compared to the others that move every single day. We seem to play a turn a week and I can never remember anything about my neighbours because of it.. This game has been going at this pace right from the beginning even though everyone pledged to make it move very quickly. So clearly there are people that are very slow at sending it on. I know that Rubberjello, Dogboy, and Rocinante are fast, and I'm reasonably fast too. I would expect an 8 player like this with dedicated players to make at least a turn every 2 days, so clearly something is messed up ;)
CivAddict2002 Jun 03, 2004, 03:29 PM just played the game and sent it to rubberjello. i know he will play it soon.
DogBoy Jun 03, 2004, 04:03 PM Played and sent it. We go 10 days without a turn, then we go thru the bottom half of the 8 players here in what...5 hours? Extract what you will from this.
LouisWu Jun 04, 2004, 02:26 PM gps  :)
DogBoy Jun 04, 2004, 08:42 PM Arrogant, the save should be with you now. It is been over 24 hours since LouisWu posted that he sent the save to you. I just sent you an e-mail. Let's keep this rolling.
DogBoy Jun 07, 2004, 08:35 PM Does anybody know where Arrogant is? The save should be with him.
Arrogant, if you don't have time or don't want to continue this game, can you send me the admin password and I will retire your civ and keep this game alive?
ironduck Jun 09, 2004, 01:20 PM Did Arrogant show up or did you resign him? I got the game and passed it on..
Rubberjello Jun 09, 2004, 02:42 PM I think Arrogant is not even checking this thread. He just happens to pick up his email *whenever*, plays it, and passes it on. (It appears to me).
This cursed game has more lives than Wily E. Coyote on a bad day. ;)
DogBoy Jun 09, 2004, 04:52 PM I hate to say it, but this game is probably dead. It is for me at least. It's a shame too because it had such potential to be a good game.
My following comments are not directed at everybody in this game. If you know I'm not talking to you, you should be ok with them. If I happen to hurt your feelings, then chances are they are directed at you.
I really don't care if I hurt anybody's feelings here, but some people are just (deleted by DogBoy) when it comes to playing these games. They show complete lack of respect for the other players. They are lower than (deleted by DogBoy) in my book. But wait you say, "It's just a game!" That's true, it is just a game. But it's also more than that. You have people that are expecting something from you based upon your word. You gave your word to check your e-mail once a day, and if the turn was there, play it and send it along. If you were going to be gone, i.e. out of town on business or vacation, you would post that here and everything would be ok. So that's why I think some of these people (deleted by DogBoy). They give their word to do a simple task, and they can't even do that. Their word is (deleted by DogBoy) and the only thing they are good for in life (deleted by DogBoy). (I used to do that so if I hurt your feelings, so what.) If you can't be trusted to do one simple task like playing your turn and sending the game along, how can you be trusted to do complex tasks like teach my kids in school, police the highways in your patrol car, sell medicine at a pharmacy, or any other job that (deleted by DogBoy). The answer is, you can't. You should feel embarassed if you signed up to play this game and don't check your e-mail, go out of town without giving the rest of us notice, or are simply too lazy to play your turn. Hey, if you are busy with work because the boss is riding your back, or if you are busy with school because finals are coming up, or if you are taking a vacation with the family now that the kids are out of school, no problem. Just let us know. And going back to the arguement of "It's just a game!" Well if it just a game, then play it. And if you don't want to play it, retire your civ and let the rest of us play.
I will get down from my soapbox now and play my other PBEMs with (deleted by DogBoy) than there are in this game.
edit: Deleted some stuff. Figured if I left some strong language in there I might get banned. Also, if somebody gets their feelings hurt they might want to start a flame war and I really don't care for that. Not over something so trivial as someone breaking their word.
Goober Jun 14, 2004, 10:09 AM I have the save, this is not dead yet. Since I am already late for school, I am going to dash off, but I will play and send this when I get home.
DogBoy Jun 14, 2004, 02:05 PM I disagree, it is dead. I posted my message 5 days ago and not one single person has replied. That tells me one of two things, either some people read it and knew it didn't apply to them so they felt there was no need to reply. Or some people didn't read it because they don't care about this game and they didn't reply. Now 5 days later someone posts they have the save? Either you have had it for 5 days and haven't cared to send it, or somebody else had it for 5 days and just now sent it to you. Either way, somebody or some people are holding the game up. That = game is dead.
Rubberjello Jun 14, 2004, 02:10 PM Well...not dead yet. But definitely in Intensive Care with trach tubes, IVs, respirators, Dialysis machines, and continual cardio-stimulation.
;)
Aggie Jul 22, 2004, 12:55 AM Do you still want me to keep those passwords?
DogBoy Jul 22, 2004, 04:48 AM Delete the passwords. The game is dead, most people won't even post saying if they are still alive or not. It would be too hard to figure out who is playing and who is not.
