-Oz Well, right. But glass was a valuable trade good until the late Middle Ages. The secret of glassmaking was... top secret. BtW, Some of the original ressources are also not as "natural" like it seems. So what's the problem with glass?

Everything depends upon POV -- in my modding, I ignore saltpeter as it's commonly found in manure piles; yes, a secret at first ... ;)
Also, having a manufactured good like glass be a "natural" resource begs the question of placement -- only adjacent to those cities where glass would have been manufactured?

Gogf Jan 09, 2004, 06:01 AM I didn't want people to get a pile of sand mixed up with saltpeter. Also, aluminum is in a final form, as is silk, dies, and incense.

Everything depends upon POV Exactly. I personaly prefere having some more "ressources", wich could give each scenario a specifical feeling, even if this are not 100% real "ressoruces", over a few "correct (and only) natural" ressources wich are nearly the same in every scn. So my POV is different from yours - and glass-ressources are o.k. to me. I allready use glass in my own Rise of Rome Scenario since beginning. ;)
Ankka Jan 09, 2004, 08:34 AM Looks very nice IMHO. :)
Ozymandias Jan 09, 2004, 01:03 PM  OK, I've been made a convert! -- And uyes, BTW, the glass resource DOES look very nice :goodjob:

Pounder Jan 09, 2004, 01:32 PM I would say that sand is the resource and glass is the product.
Lightening strike on the beach, silicon dioxide melts and cools off into a mass of glass, someone witnesses this and decides to melt the sand himself in a forge or whatever.
I would not consider sand a valuable resource.
If we could trade finished goods, this would be great.
Gogf Jan 09, 2004, 01:35 PM Well, sand doesn't appear in the forest. Also, look at aluminum, that's a final product, as is insence... If you want sand, use saltpeter.
